First, congrats, for almost making it to halfway! That's a big accomplishment! :)

As for motivation, what made you want to lose the weight to begin with? The stronger your motivation, the more likely you will be able to stick to it.

What is causing you the biggest problems when doing MOMOs? You don't know what to eat? You're unsure of portion sizes? You are more tempted to eat things you shouldn't?

As far as the exercise is concerned, don't "try" to do them - do them! :) It will not only help you to lose the weight but it's essential to keeping your metabolism working at its best and, of course, it will help greatly in keeping the weight off when you hit goal.

You have to keep in mind that this isn't just a diet. It's a way of looking at food for the rest of your life so having it take a while to reach goal can be a good thing because it gives your body an opportunity to learn to handle a new relationship with food but also your mind.

If you tell us what you're struggling with most, we'll do our best to give you some tips to help and to cheer you on. :)

Yes, it's hard, but it's so worth it!

Thanks, Phyllis! You're right. It's a journey and there are many ups and downs. I just need to recommit and treat it like I did when I first started. Even though my pants are baggy and people are complimenting me doesn't mean I'm done. I'm going to recommit to this for the home stretch. I was vigilant my first 6 mos and it payed off. I just need to stay focused with my eye on the prize. Also it's a bit scary to think of what I'm going to look and feel like with another 25-30 lbs gone. Processing and dealing with all these things is part of this journey. I just re-upped my arm band subscription and found that dancing in my living room with head phones on for 30 minutes gives me an extra 6,000steps and practically 30 mins of vigorous activity. I CAN DO THAT!

And I'm going to!

Good for you! Looks like you have your head back in the game. And dancing in your living room is such a fun and easy exercise. :)

BTW, just curious. What is "scary" about wondering what you're going to look and feel like losing the last 25-30 lbs? (That is, if you don't mind sharing.) :)

Hi All,
I too am hovering near my halfway point and have been for a while. My consultant hasn't been very helpful with MOMO or DOMO. She has just wanted to sell me the food. However, now that they are ending my "rewards" program, I must take matters in my own hands and finish this journey. I have an armband also and love how it keeps me accountable. However, mine doesn't register my steps right when I do aerobic exercise or use the elliptical glider. I practically killed myself on Sunday following some skinny chick and her crew on an aerobics tape at home and when I plugged my armband in it only registered 2000 steps! I was beat, sweaty, and sore and it only registered 2000 steps. I can climb on a treadmill and walk for the same amount of time and get 4000 or more steps done with less effort. Go figure!

I agree with this being "scary". I am afraid to finish and afraid to fail. It doesn't have to be a rational fear it just is a fear. And one that we can overcome. Anyhow, I would love to work with some other JC clients that are stuck halfway like me! Maybe we should set up a link and see how many we can get to join us.

Well, maybe there is a small benefit to be "scared" in that you're less likely to fall off the wagon but some people get so stuck on the fear that they won't allow themselves to even try to do some MOMO and that's not good. That's the point of starting to do the meals on your own when you hit halfway so that you can experiment to see what you can and can't eat and know how to do portion control, etc. while you're still in a controlled environment and still seeing your JCC on a weekly basis. That way if you make some mistakes (and we all do), you have time to learn from them and "recover" while you're still losing.

Some people are so afraid, on the other hand, that they refuse to do the MOMOs until goal and then they either stick with JC food all the time (good for them if they can afford it) and REALLY trip up when they do have to eat off plan.

It's very likely that if you've been paying attention to what you're eating on JC, that it's been a great learning experience.

One of the ways to help you recognize portion sizes is to take your JC food out of the tray and put it on a regular dinner dish so you know what a JC portion looks like. This way if you're dining out or even doing a MOMO you'll know what you should be eating and how much.

It's a simple tip but it helps A LOT!

Hang in there! You're going to do great! :)

I'm also a few pounds away from halfway. I already do my own breakfasts and snacks. I'm not perfect on the exercise but it definitely makes a difference.

I've gotten some cookbooks with light recipes so plan to start planning out what I'll be cooking for dinners on sat and sun nights. Will probably do a lunch like JC with either salad and a light sandwich etc.

Then I will just do JC during the week for lunches and dinners only. I work during the week so think this will work best for my lifestyle.

Cooking light is one of my cookbooks and the other is by better homes and gardens and has exchanges in it also.

What motivates me is trying on smaller clothes, feeling so much better and knowing that what I do now will impact my health years and years from now. I live in the south where we have amazing cooking but much of it is quite unhealthy which is why so many in this part of the country are considered obese. I want to be active as I age and not someone tied down to a scooter or wheelchair and having to pay extra for prescription drugs for diabetes, cholesterol etc..,,

For me it's scary to be the skinny, attractive girl I've always wanted to be. I know it sounds strange but it's just dropping that personae of the BIG girl. I guess it's just change in general. And the fear of getting fat again, too. But it being fit is so much better. Articulating it helps because now the idea of being scared to look hot seems crazy! I'm over it!

And you guys are right about MOMOs and DOMOs - it's a struggle at first but we've got to take the leap - that's when the real learning begins. Taking your JC food out of the countainer and putting it on a plate is SO KEY! Valarie, try to find a new consultant that is encouraging you to try meals on your own. It's so important!

It's funny you should write that about being "the big girl" because on "Dancing with the Stars" the other evening Ricki Lake was talking about the same thing.

She was small when she was little, was tragically molested in her home when she was a little girl, and started to turn to food.

She always wanted to be an actress and was in school plays and such and finally got her break in "Hairspray" when they wanted a "big girl." She worked a few more years in movies in that role but then realized that she needed to lose weight and she started to and her career blossomed again as a talk show host.

She started out on "DWTS" still overweight and whenever she had to do dances as a "pretty girl" she didn't "feel" the part or had to have her partner lift her, she didn't want him to because she was uncomfortable and afraid she'd hurt him.

She has lost 20+ lbs since the beginning of the show (actually I think she lost more than that) and her partner was saying that she still has the image in her head about the "big girl."

Then they were showing her transformation on the show and she didn't notice it until she saw the clips and you could tell from the way she was talking that she wasn't quite comfortable with the thinner image she now shows but she was starting to get used to it and I think she is motivated to want to lose even more because she was just beginning to like what she saw.

(Actually, come to think of it, I think she would have made a better spokesperson for Jenny than Mariah, but that's another story.)

Anyway, you're not alone. LOTS of people are shocked and nervous about losing their "big girl" image and attracting the type of attention they now do.

But you're definitely not "the big girl" anymore so you better get used to being the "hot" girl instead. :D

Madhouse, I think you're scared of the "unknown." If you have never been the 'skinny' girl then its unknown territory.

Be rest assured, you will adjust in time and LOVE being the NEW skinny minny :P ;)

Hey Everyone!

I'm back from illness, stress and laziness! I've been struggling with the plan for three weeks now, but really trying to work the MOMOs. So I thought for sure today would be a disaster when I weighed and I actually lost. YAHOO! So I know that I can maintain! It's now about getting back to the LOSE THE WEIGHT mode. I don't think that's going to happen hard core until after the holidays (I'm just being realistic) but it's okay - I talked it over with my JCC and holding down the fort over the holidays, planning and exercising is SOOOO much better than just dropping the ball until January. So, here I am. Back for the long haul! Thanks all of you guys for the encouragement and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

XOXOX
