I just need to vent a little. I've been sticking with the plan and I lost .5 lbs today for a grand total of 16.5 lbs in 6 weeks (this is 4th day in 6th week). I do get discouraged though sometimes when my weight does these little flippy flop things.

For example, Monday morning I'll weigh 187, Tues same, Wednesday same, Thurs 186.5, Fri 188, Sat and Sun 185 (these are examples). I'm wondering why my body will lose 2-3 lbs and sit there for an entire week, doing minor ups and downs, and then right before my Monday evening weigh in, I will weigh 2-3 lbs less than the week before. Sometimes even 4 lbs less than the week before.

Is my body getting used to each drop in weight? Is it resetting itself?

I'm not complaining that I DO keep losing weight steadily each week, I'm more annoyed at how my body does it.

Yes, I weigh myself every morning. People can say until they're blue in the face not to do this, but it's an OCD of mine when I'm trying to lose weight.

I just find it weird sometimes. And sometimes I do get a little discouraged that I'm not losing fast enough. I know that losing too much weight too quickly can bring the pounds back on lightning fast, been there done that. But the splurges the JCCs say you can have occasionally, I don't want to do because I want to hit my goal first. If one COULD consider these splurges, I do have a coffee or a small MOMO, but I usually replace that 'splurge' with whatever I'd have had around that time. My own meal? Replace lunch/dinner. A coffee? Replace my snack.

I think I just need hugs and some encouragement. I haven't cheated and I'm not rushing to McDs or Wendys or even Taco Bell for junky food. Well, I did go to Taco Bell today, but it was to get my husband food. I wasn't standing there drooling or anything, I was just like 'stomach, dude, we have food at home, so shut it'. Heh.

Thanks for listening to me complain. Makes me feel better.

You are doing amazing, first of all. Our bodies have natural fluctuations all the time. I also weigh in every day and my body goes up a down all the time. That is why it's important to have your official weigh in at the same time each week.

As far as you not losing fast enough. It's taken me 2 years to get to where I am. I don't know about you but it took me 30 years to get to where I was and it's gonna take me more than a while to get to where I want to be and make the lifestyle changes to maintain it.

I totally understand your frustration! The same thing happens to me. Since I started on JC in January, I have AVERAGED about 2.5 lbs per week. But it definitely has not been consistently 2.5 lbs each and every week. On several occasions, I have gone 2-3 weeks without losing anything at all - and then all of a sudden will drop 5-6 lbs. I used to find this so upsetting and frustrating because I absolutely never deviated from the plan (not even one time in ten months - I am proud to say!). I used to weigh myself everyday and then obsess about what I was doing wrong and could be doing differently or why my body was reacting this way, etc, etc. I decided to stop weighing myself everyday. In fact, I only get weighed by my JCC every two weeks now and since starting that I have noticed a more clear pattern. For the first two weeks, I will lose next to nothing, then the next weigh-in two weeks later I will drop a big amount - and the cycle repeats. I now just accept that is the way it goes for me and stay focused on the big picture. Hang in there - the plan will work if you just stick with it. :)

I know. I was 160 when I got pregnant with my 13 year old, gained 70 lbs, lost 20 the second after birth and hovered between 200 and 210 for 13 years. I'm 34 and I know I'm doing pretty dang good. I just get discouraged sometimes, really. I know it won't happen over night, but sometimes I get so annoyed at how my body works.

Thanks for listening though!

Look, Eane, you can rant and rave as much as you want. That's why we're all here. :)

But, seriously, PLEASE look at the BIG picture.

Does your body react the way it did when you were in your teens? Uh, no. Did your body do strange things when you were pregnant? Uh, yeah. Do men lose faster than women? H ell, yes! Is life fair? Probably not. ;)

Listen, even if you knew the answer why - and I could probably find a scientific reason for you - would it make a difference? I mean, it's not like you can "will" away the fluctuations. It is what it is. (sigh)

You are doing AMAZINGLY well! Seriously, there are women on these boards that would KILL to lose a pound a week...or even a half a pound...so PLEASE TRY to relax about all of this. The reason why is happens doesn't really matter. As the saying goes: Sh*t happens. :D

Frustrating? Sure. Manageable? Only psychologically.

Last week I "gained" three pounds. Did I really? Uh, not so much. I was constipated! :P

Did it make me a little crazy? Yeah, sure, for about a minute. And then I realized that if I'm going to be doing this for the rest of my life, what difference does a day or two make. It all "came out" in the end. ;)

Just hang in there. This won't be the first time this type of thing happens and if you insist on weighing yourself every day you might as well get used to it.

Now, once you hit maintenance (and at the rate you're going it's likely to happen sooner than later) if you see that scale creep past the five pound mark, yes, then "panic" and call JC right away and go back to lose it and get a "refresher course."

In the meantime, just stick to the plan. It hasn't let you down before and it's not letting you down now. The only thing that's "wrong" is the way you're looking at your journey. So lighten up! :D
