When I first went on the JC plan about six weeks ago, I was never hungry. The meals were the perfect portion and I felt satisfied. My routine is breakfast between 6 and 6:30 a.m. (I get to work at 6); snack at the 9:30 break; lunch at 12:00, snack at 2:30. I get off work at 4:30 and it takes an hour to drive home - then I have dinner. If I'm still awake by 7:00 - 8:00 I'll have my evening snack.

Now, six weeks into the plan, I eat my breakfast between 6 and 6:30 - I'm hungry by 8:00 - I try to hold off having my snack, but I give in about 8:30 - 9:00 - then I'm starving by 10:30 - 11 and have to try to get through to lunch; after which I'm starving again by about 1:30 or 2 - and I feel famished before I can get home to eat my dinner.

What's up with that? It's like my stomach has stretched and needs more food than it did when I first started.Posted Image

Kelly,

Well, I know you probably don't want to hear this but...water, water, water! :P

It really DOES help to fill you up. Plus, there are other things you can do. Bring some veggies with you. Make yourself a cup of flavored tea (besides adding to your water requirement, it also will taste like a treat). You also can have some hot broth. Or how about a low sodium V-8? I find those very filling when I'm feeling hungry in between meals.

JC also has Souptizers (which I'm not particularly fond of but some people like them) or make your own veggie soup. One of the things I used to like to do because I wasn't that crazy about eating the cooked veggies in the soup (plus it was difficult to do at work) was make the soup and then when the veggies were cooked, I put them into a blender with some of the broth. (You also can use a food processor.)It made like a vegetable bisque that was easy to drink from a thermos (or a cup if you have a microwave at your disposal). It was tasty and filling!

I'm sure some other folks will come up with some other ideas. :)

Are you exercising more than you were at the start? Maybe you need to bumb up the calories to 1500 if you are doing a lot of exercise, your body probably IS hungry!

Kelly, I know you FEEL like you are starving, but I highly doubt you REALLY are. Are you really 'hungry' or just 'empty'? The reason I ask is b/c sometimes our tummy's are just empty....and thats perfectly ok, its really ok to feel actual hunger pangs sometimes....and to be perfectly honest, you should. We cant expect to feel like we are slap dab full at all times of the day. We should be satified and not full anyways.

My jcc encouraged me to allow myself to feel hunger pangs occasionally. I know, who wants to feel hungry, right? lol

See, thats what got us here in the first place.....noshing out so much that we stretched our stomach's so out of whack :o . I dont know about you, but I rarely felt hunger pangs before jc...I never ALLOWED myself to get "empty".....and that not good. Now, I have excepted there will be times during my day that I just might feel hungry.
In those times, I just imagine a pacman in my tummy eating up all the fat cells....WAGA WAGA :P:D

Now with all that said, if you REALLY think you feel hungry most of time, then you should talk to your jcc about it....you just might need more calories.

Sometimes we just need more water  ....that is true!

Hang in there hun, more than likely you are just adjusting to another phase in your journey.....this too shall pass.

I have been bringing veggies and eating them - mostly carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. And increased my water today as well. Just wondered if it was normal to be hungry now when I wasn't before. Someone said that maybe it's my metabolism speeding up and that could be causing it too. I'll have to research that one on the internet.

I am happy to report, though, there is a ton of Halloween candy in the kitchen here at work...and I haven't even wanted to have any of that...so I am getting to where I want to eat healthy instead of eating junk. Posted Image

As Melissa pointed out, yes, feeling hungry sometimes is normal. There are days I'm "ravenous" and days that I really don't want to eat and have to force myself.

In any event, it sounds like you're heading in the right direction (more water, no candy) so good for you! :)

It sounds like you have the right mindset and that's one of the biggest hurdles to cross. :)

Kelly, sorry you're having a lil' bump in the road. Are you losing weight though? I betcha a V-8 would be perfect on your ride home from work..to hold you over till dinner. If you don't like V-8 you could pack some other non-starchy vegies to munch on. The lil' baby carrots are yummy. Even sipping a nice big SF tea might do the trick! The Snapple Diet Peach tea is my fav!! :)

Good luck Kelly & keep us posted!

Hey Girlfriend!! Just wanted to say I LOVE this post!! Everything about it..from the "slap dab full tummy" to the "Waga Waga" of the Pacman!!

I agree with that empty feel in the tummy...that's when your body starts eating up the old stored flabby flubber! Yay!

And last but certainly not least...I love the "this too shall pass"! One of my favorite promises!

I thank God for you girl, and your wonderful posts!! :D

Mmmmm...vegie bisque! That sounds so yummy and soothing. You come up with the best suggestions,Phyllis! If you write a "Phyllis does Jenny" book,I will buy one. Now that I look at the title I'm thinking something else might be more appropriate!

Thanks for all your time & effort on these boards! You really do help a lot of people..like me!

Uh, yeah, I was thinking that "Phyllis Does Jenny" might sound more like a porno film! (Does "Debbie Does Dallas" ring a bell? LOL)

But, thanks, for the note. That's sweet. :) But that's why we're all here. We help each other to lose the weight AND keep it off.

You all might not realize it, but you're my "food police" (or priests). If I go off the program, I feel the need to "confess" to you all and I don't like doing that so you keep me on track. ;)

Sugar Free Gum helps me as does my favorite drink. I love Starbucks Tazo Black Iced Tea. I get it unsweet with Splenda and I love it. It feels like such a treat. They get me though the tough afternoons.
