Okay, so I'm starting to get discouraged here. I started at 159 lbs. about six weeks ago and I'm only at 157. I've been eating the food, drinking the water, exercising...and nothing is happening. My first week I lost 2.8 lbs. and then I gained 1.8, then I lost 1, then I gained .8 I expected to be a minimum of 5 lbs. lighter by now.
I feel better with the healthier eating, I have been able to go off my ADD medication and I feel fine. My cellulite, though it's still there, is lessening...but the weight is still there. The pants are still too tight.
Do I have to literally go running uphill every single day to lose a pound?
Obviously I was already only eating about 1200 calories a day, so cutting my calories and spending all this extra money on food doesn't seem to be the answer if I want to lose weight.
Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed and frustrated today.
I'm sorry you're having such a tough time but is usually a logical reason.
For instance, are you truly sticking to the exact plan? I mean, are you drinking a MINIMUM of a half gallon of water? Are you eating something every 2-3 hours? Are you eating enough non-starchy veggies? Are you eating ONLY JC meals and not "tasting" things you cook for your family? Do you eat your fruit every day? What type of exercise are you doing and how much? Are you sure you haven't had "just a bite" of this and that because it didn't seem like a big deal? Are you still drinking diet soda?
When someone isn't losing weight on this plan, there's usually a reason like you're retaining water from too much sodium somewhere in your diet, you're not exercising enough OR you're exercising too much for the amount of calories you're on.
If you're doing too much exercise on a low-calorie plan, your body will try to hold onto every calorie and ounce of weight. If you're not doing enough exercise, you may not be burning enough calories (although a diet of less than 1,200 calories isn't healthy).
If you are "skipping" food because you're not hungry, you don't feel like eating or whatever, that's also a problem.
If you are doing EVERYTHING you're supposed to be doing, what does your JCC say? If she/he isn't giving you enough help, maybe it's time to switch to a different JCC (most are great but there are some that are mere food order takers and don't offer enough help or advice). So talk to the JC manager at your center.
You said you're off one of your medications and that's great but have you had your thyroid checked? Several of the people on this board discovered they had a thyroid issue.
I know it's terrible to keep trying and spending the money and not seeing results but there has to be a reasonable explanation somewhere.
From your photo, you look young so I'm suspecting that it's not an age problem (which those of us over 40 often have), so there has to be SOME reason for it.
This plan - in fact any 1,200 calorie plan when combined with water and exercise - will HAVE to work assuming your body is working properly.
It's simple chemistry and math.
You will gain a pound of fat for every additional 3,500 calories you consume. Likewise, you will lose a pound of fat for every additional 3,500 you burn off. So something has to be going on because what you're going through doesn't make much sense this early in the program.
It's true that some people hit a plateau but not usually at the beginning of the plan. And, yes, it's not unusual to see a small gain now and then but that's usually a temporary thing that occasionally happens on WI day.
Try to determine what the cause is and let us know what you find out.
Hang in there. We're all here cheering you on.
