Hi all,
Writing on a forum is something quite new to me but I'm looking to gain insight from others and seeking any avenue possible to attain my health and weight loss goals. Like many of you I've been on more diets than I can count, been to other weight loss programs where I felt like it was a cattle call to attend the program and felt like maybe I should moo on my way to the scale. All ending in obvious failure.
About four weeks ago I had an epiphany and decided that this is it. It is now or never, I was healthier when my son was first born four years ago than I am now. Lost 20 lbs quickly after he came home from the hospital. I wish I could say this was a kudo to me but I wasn't even pregnant, my darling son was adopted. They weight that first year just melted away then began to slowly find its way back to my body until I had my epiphany...I either get healthy for myself or I can't take care of my family. For the first time in my 19 years of marriage, I'm putting myself on in the top three things on my daily to do list. Hubby, career, extended family and family needs always trumped my needs. How empowering to put myself toward the top and for once...I don't feel selfish!
So I made the call and voila, I've been slow and steady but losing the weight. I've got a long way to go but I think I'm headed in the right direction.

Welcome, Elizabeth! Thanks for posting and introducing yourself.
Well, you won't have to feel like you're just part of a herd here because here you will be seen and heard.
Seriously, we're a funny, if not, dysfunctional group but we care a great deal about each other and are all here to root each other on.
You have a great attitude - but I have to say I did laugh when you talked about losing the weight after your son was born - only to discover he was adopted!
Getting your head in the right place is one of the biggest challenges you'll face with JC. The rest of it is pretty easy. Eat the food, make sure you eat every 2-3 hours, get some exercise and drink about a half gallon of water a day (ice tea, Crystal Light, Mio flavoring or just water) to flush out your system and help keep you full.
It's that simple. The weight will come off and if you use the plan to help you not only to lose weight but also use it to learn how to develop a new relationship with food that you can keep the rest of your life, that will be its biggest benefits.
Hope you will come to the boards often to let us know how things are going, what challenges you may be facing, get in on discussions or ask a question. We're all on the same road with you or some of us have already completed the journey and will give you a heads up on any potential pitfalls.
We're here for you so welcome to our "family."
