I am restarting Jenny Craig after about a 2 year hiatus. I had an ankle injury while hiking in Sept 2009 and that threw me off. I had lost 32 lbs the last time (my goal was still 28 lbs away) but gained back about 15 and held a steady state for about 2 years. But in the last couple of months I gained another 10. I'm sooooo uncomfortable at this weight and need to loose about 53 lbs. I'm really ready to start again! This time I switched to the at home program -- I just received my food and had my first phone consultation. I really loved the food last time so I know I can succeed again. I've planned my week including exercise so I'm prepared. I'm trying something new for breakfast this morning -- apple cinnamon waffles.

Best wishes and success to all of you who like me are restarting.:)

Susan,

Welcome back! We are very much in the same boat; I started back on the program on Oct 23. Like you, I had past success with JC and had kept the weight off for a couple years, then over the last two years, I let the weight slowly creep back on....all the while trying to be in denial of it! LOL 5 months ago I had a work related injury that resulted in surgery to my right knee and left shoulder and have been off work since then...UGH! I have physcial therapy three times a week trying to get my body back into full working order! With the lack of mobility, being around the house too much and cooking way too much for my family, my weight is something I can no longer ignore.....so, I fully understand how your ankle injury threw you off your weight loss. Between having to get back in shape and needing to loose the weight, I know I have an up hill climb, but I don't want to continue to feel uncomfortable in my own skin anymore, so I'm looking forward to making these positive changes! I wish you the best with your weight loss!!!

Everyone,

Thanks for all the great encouragement. This is a stressful work week with briefings to Generals, intense preparation, and some eating "events". However, I'm really doing well and still feeling quite motivated. Today I had a work lunch but it was a salad with a pita as the bread so it was quite managable. After work we had a social but fortunately they had a roasted veggie platter in addition to the usual appetizers, meatballs, etc. I stuck to the roasted veggies and counted them towards my dinner veggie count (sticking to chicken carbonara when I got home). Tomorrow both a work lunch and dinner, then one lunch tomorrow and I'm through the week - phew! I know this is just the first few days but I'm feeling so motivated and hoping to keep it up for the long haul.

I appreciate these message boards and look forward to more exchanges. :D

Briefings with Generals?!?! :o Wow! Are you in the military?

Either way, I'm impressed! :)

As for the veggie dinner count - unless they are starchy veggies, you don't have to worry about them. You can have veggies (the non-starch variety) as often as you want and as much as you want) all day, every day so there's no need to worry about them being a lunch veggie or a dinner veggie. :D

So, eat up and enjoy! :)

Phyllis,

Thanks for the info. I am a civilian in the Air Force. I'm an engineer and have been with the Air Force for 30 years. I've had a great career so far...I'm the civilian equivalent of a 1 star general. They call us senior executives. We had 1, 2, 3 and 4 star generals visiting this week and some civilian equivalents to 1,2, and 3 stars. My boss is a 3 star general and his boss (the 4 star) was part of the group visiting. Sounds like a lot of stars :D . It was a pretty important meeting and I had the second briefing to give (right after my boss gave the 1st one).

I'm really finding the boards helpful this time around. My 22 year old son saw me on the boards and he said, "you post on message boards!" He couldn't believe it - it was pretty funny.

Savana,

It's funny you said "forum" because my son actually used the word forum not message boards - that was my obviously outdated word.

Susan,

Well done in the meetings with the "brass" and in losing more than two pounds this week! I'd salute you, but I think that's reserved for the "true" military. ;)

Instead I'll just a big Hooo-Haaaa! :)

Hi There,

Back to Jenny. I lost 50lbs back in 2008. I've kept off most of it only gaining back 5 lbs until this summer. Huge project at work and 5 quickly turned into 18. Figure I have to get a handle on it now. I found these boards very helpful the first time. Hope that holds true this time. I was on in the days of the Val's Pals. My first batch of food is on the way. I'll post the first weigh in. Have a great weekend all.
