Hi,

I was reading a post the other day about a person wanting to use the eTools but did not understand the difference between abdomen and waist. After being on several different weigh plans, there is one thing that stays consistent. Taking your measurements the same way each time. And I will say this: it is a great motivator every 2 or 4 weeks to take your measurements and see the inches sliding away. If you are on a strength training program at your local gym and the needle on the scale stops, you usually will find the inches lost are not stopping. That has helped me in the past and why I made sure to take them.

Bust - JC says at largest part of your bust. An alternative to that location is at the braline (right under your bust where your elastic band is located for your bra) which will measure losses from your back and chest and you will know it for buying new bras.

Waist - Some say measure at your belly button but I have a high waist so I bend to the side while looking in the mirror to find the crease where I bend and take it there. I take a deep breath, let it out, then take a 1/2 breath. I suck in a little bit but it is consistency that is important here.

Abdomen - JC says about 2 inches below your belly button. For me, this is the location of my "fat roll" so I use this location. I do the same breathing as above and live with it. At my first 4 week measurement, I did not lose in this area but lost everywhere else.

Hips - Some say largest part of the hips, others say take this measurement at the hip bones. I stand sideways and again to the front and locate the widest part. It is actually a bit lower than my hip bones. I try to measure this same area each time.

Now this is only the way I do it. In the past, I also did about 5 inches down from the inside crease of my inner thigh to measure my thighs and, measured my biceps and calves at what I could find to be the widest parts. I did not these extra measurements time but I wish I had started doing all this back in August when I started.

Melissa, that was a GREAT description about taking measurements! :) I know where they are but I'm sure I would NEVER have been able to describe them as well. I'm sure you helped A LOT of folks. :)
