Started JC 17 days ago and was really disappointed at the first weigh in. I had lost only 0.2 pounds. I followed the plan exactly. I went on a five mile walk (which I do once a week) and couldn't keep up with my friends. My body was so weak. Well, I continued on following the plan and talked to my consultant. She said sometimes the weight comes off the second week. Plus I don't have a lot to lose (17 pounds). The second weigh in was yesterday, day 17, and I lost 2.6 pounds!! I ate more before my five mile walk this week and felt much better. I am hoping to continue on the weight loss path. My consultant said I can reasonably expect to lose a pound a week. I hope so. I have counted calories in the past and have been successful, but as I get older the weight seems to stick to me. I have even tried P90X for 6 months and lost no weight and didn't change my body fat percentage. Even the doctor was shocked to see how high my body fat percentage was, even after weight lifting. I just want to be at a healthy weight and body fat percentage now so that I can continue to be active for many decades to come.

Welcome to JC and the Boards!

You're right, it's really disappointing when you don't immediately lose but you did GREAT the second week! Good for you! :)

This is a terrific program but you're also right that if you don't have that much to lose and as we get older, it's more difficult.

I am curious though. Why are you only walking once a week? It would be much better and you'd probably build up your endurance faster and better if you walked even a mile or two at least three times a week. Is that the only exercise you're getting? If so, that COULD be your biggest problem. (BTW, this is being said from someone who until recently didn't do ANY exercise. LOL)

But otherwise, your goal to get healthy, is a great one to have because it's something important and concrete to work toward.

Please come to the boards often for support, encouragement, ask questions, rave about successes and rant about problems. We're all here with you and for you! :)

Thanks for the reply. I have never written in a forum before and I am a little intimidated. I do exercise more than just my five mile Friday, but I never miss Friday. At times I will walk a couple of times a week for 3 miles each time. I have been mowing the lawn and I cleaned the garage the other day. It just depends on my schedule. My husband, son and I are looking into joining a boot camp. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm afraid to start the camp because when I did P90X I didn't lose any weight and my measurements didn't change. I was in better shape and that is good, but I was not happy with my apperance. I was thinking of joining the camp when I reached half way, but my husband is excited to start so I'm okay with it. My weigh-in is on Wed. I hope the scale has gone down.

Well, you're more ambitious than I am. Boot camp? Uh, not for me. But, hey, if you're up for it and you want to do it, it sounds great! Go for it!

Besides, you'll have your hubby with you and that will help a lot.

No need to feel intimidated by the boards. None of us is going to bite or judge you. :) We just like supporting one another because we know that helps almost as much as the diet and exercise (and sometimes it helps more). :)

Sorry for the confusion about the walking. Now I get it. :D

Come and chat whenever you want. One or more of us will always be here to "listen" and help whenever or wherever we can. :)

I am so excited that Jenny Craig is working for me. I just had my one month weigh-in. I have lost 5 pounds and 3.5 inches!!! Like my previous post stated, I was nervous when my weight loss was slow in the beginning. Some days I am hungry, but other days are more manageable. I hardly use any of my limited free food since I know that with little weight to loss I need to be strict. On those difficult days though, I reach for my sugar-free popscicles. I feel like it is a little dessert and I love dessert. I fill up on veggies as much as I can, but if I eat a lot I do struggle with stomach aches. Not fun. We went on a weekend trip to visit my son at college and even brought our microwave with us so we could stay on the program. We did eat out with our son, but usually only had salad and grilled veggies. I can't say that it was easy to watch him wolf down a hamburger and fries, but it was manageable as long as I ate some before we went.

Boot camp starts next Weds. Very nervous. My husband is excited so I'll give it a go and let you know if I survive.

Well,I am back to being frustrated. I finished a month of boot camp. Super hard. I have stayed the same weight for the entire month. My consultant said I should focus on cardio for right now and wait to use weights. I'm going to try that this month. I have weighed a couple of pounds less on my scale on some days, but it always slowly creeps back up. I really hope I have some weight loss this week. I do not think I can handle a 5 week plateau. My consultant also said to switch my lunch and dinner meals. I haven't tried that yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

So sorry to hear that! Have you had your thyroid checked? Are you on new meds or medication that makes losing difficult?

I assume you're getting in at least your 64 oz. of water.

It doesn't make a lot of sense. How about inches? Has she measured you lately? Maybe what's not coming off on the scale is at least showing up on the tape measure, especially since you've been working out with weights.

Also, what calorie level are you on? Sometimes it needs to be adjust up or down.

Our bodies are odd things and they can get temperamental. :(

Hang in there! Post more often. It's especially helpful when you're going through a difficult period to stay on track and focused. We're here for you. :)
