You are NOT alone! We're all here for you.
I was in my late 50s when I started JC and I am 62 now when I returned to lose about 10 lbs. that I regained. But I did that and I'm back at goal!
I think the "secret" to making sure we don't have to keep returning to JC for a big number is to make sure that when we hit goal, we really watch that scale and if it starts to tip over the 5 lb. mark, head right back to JC and get the weight off. Then it's not so overwhelming.
BTW, if you post on the General board, chances are you're going to get a lot more (and a lot quicker) responses.
Yes, it's a bit more difficult to lose the weight the older we get but it can be done. And you have half the battle over already.
1 - you know that the plan works because you're a "returnee"
2 - you have a goal (actually a couple - the cruise and a healthier you)
Now all you have to do it follow the plan, get in your water and exercise, and watch the pounds start to go. It's not going to just drop off as it did when we were younger, but it DOES come off, so hang in there.
Come to the boards often for support, ask questions, rant about problems and rave about successes.
Looking forward to seeing you more often on the boards.

Welcome to the boards!!!
I am also planning a cruise for January ( I like to escape the cold Ohio winters for my birthday). I am trying to get my head in the right place as well because one of my favorite parts of a cruise is the food. However, each ship has a ton of exercise possibilities. All the equipment imaginable and a built in walking track.
I think the key to it is planning. Plan on getting in your calorie burn every day. While in port, explore the island on foot. You will save money and burn calories. Splurge a bit on your favorite things. Have 1 or 2 bites of that chocolate melting cake. Linda Spangle's book points out that the greatest pleasure comes from the first 2 bites. It doesn't get any better after that so stop there!! You can have 2 more bites the next night!!
Since I am going before you, stay tuned. I'm sure I'll be reporting back with how I did. I know I won't be perfect. Progress not perfection is the Jenny motto!
