Any suggestions or ways to stay motivated and focused?
I want to lose a total of 25, so far have lost 8-10.
I am 57, 5'5, weigh now ~158-9 and want to get down to 142-145.
Thank you for any tips or motivational strategies not to give up and just start eating "normal" again!

First, congrats on the great beginning weight loss. Now, here's the thing. The older we get (especially around menopause) the less quickly we're going to lose.
I tend to lose in ounces and on occasion, have even "gained." As long as I've truly stuck to the plan, I know that it's not a true "gain" but rather water weight.
Have you been drinking ALL of your water? You're supposed to drink AT THE MINIMUM a half gallon (or two liters) a day.
Have you stopped drinking diet soda? Yes, that's another tough one but it's really essential.
Are you watching your sodium?
How much are you exercising? It's very possible that if you're over doing it, you're not getting enough calories and your body is holding onto the weight so it's possible that you might either need to slow down the exercise or increase your calories.
What does your JCC have to say?
Good luck and let us know how it's going.

Basically you change up the number of calories you are eating everyday - but don't go over for the week. So, for example, if you eat 1100 on Monday, then 1300 on Tuesday, 1000 on Wednesday, and 1400 on Thursday. It still averages out to 1200 per day, but it varies up and down over the week. Apparently this keeps your body from going into "starvation" or "diet mode" and will help break through a plateau. (That is my simple explanation - but there is some great information on these boards or on the Internet). I have been on JC since Jan 1st of this year. I have done this little trick three times and it has worked like a charm each time.
