Made it to Halfway - now what?

Hey everyone,

This is my first post on this forum. I made it to my halfway goal last Wednesday and I can hardly believe it. It's really overwhelming. I'm thrilled, don't get me wrong - but now what? I'm a little scared at the idea of fixing my own meals, incorporating a glass of wine, etc. I don't want to ruin what I've got going. I know I have to take it slow and one meal at at time. I just realized that this forum existed for halfwayers so I'm going to read all the posts and get some advice. I guess I just wanted to reach out to you guys who have done it and know that while it's a blessing and I'm stoked -- I'm also a little freaked out.

Hi and congrats on making it halfway!

You should talk to your JCC about starting to do MOMOs to see how you do. In the beginning, they should definitely be planned meals based around the exchanges.

As for adding in wine, are you sure you want to do that? While it may not be terribly high in calories, it is very high in sodium and if you're like me, I have to DOUBLE my intake of water for two to three days just to flush out the sodium. So if you want avoid it, it's probably best.

Your JCC will likely start you on MOMOs for a few weeks before adding possibly a DOMO every couple of weeks once she know you can successfully do MOMO to make sure you are following the program correctly and that it's not adversely affecting your weight loss.

Yes, for many people doing the MOMO is "scary" but it's very possible if you are VERY diligent about what you eat.

Have you started to take your JC meals out of the plastic container and putting it on a regular dinner plate yet? If you haven't, you should start. It will help you A LOT in learning the visual clues to what a portion size is especially with your protein and starch.

Anyway, talk to your JCC and congrats! You've accomplished something MAJOR and you have every right to be proud of yourself. :)

I've been reading other people's anxiety about starting MOMO and DOMO and I now know I'm not alone! I've also gotten a lot of insight just reading what you all are doing. I'm also going to take your advice and wait on the wine because I think I'm like you with the sodium - and it also makes me careless when it comes to making good food choices. It's just another challange that we'll all get through together, right! : )

Good thinking about the wine. Yes, alcohol does sometimes cause us to make poor choices. But, you're right, this is just another challenge and you've done so well so far. I'm sure you will succeed here as well. :)
