(Hope I picked the right topic, so many to choose from)

Well, today was my first weigh in and according to the scale I lost about 3 pounds and some ounces which is awesome. When I first weighed in with them (first day) I weighed 205 (with clothes and shoes on) and now with everything on, it says I'm 202 (there were ounces, but I don't remember those).

This is great and exciting, but when I went home and weighed myself with just my undies and nightie, I ACTUALLY weigh 198.5. And yes, I weighed myself with clothes on too and it said 201. So I'm trying to figure which scale is correct or if there's a small difference. *shrug*

But, anyway, I've lost weight and feeling good. I'm now on week two and I'm hoping I lose at least 2-4 more pounds this week. I may have to step up my exercise a bit. Right now, I mainly walk (or more correctly march) to and from work from the bus stop. No, I'm not in the military any more, I just walk really fast naturally.

I'm still motivated though! I do need to cut back some on my diet coke intake. I can't outright cut it out since I can drink about 4 2lt bottles in a two day period and those 64oz double gulps call out to me daily.

But more water, wee bit less soda, and a bit more walking to start should help shed a few more pounds. I did get some excellent advice to change up my menu so my body is constantly guessing what I'll eat today, the next day, etc. Like have lunch for breakfast and vice versa so my body doesn't expect the same thing every day and it doesn't work for me anymore. Heh, having a dinner for breakfast would really screw with my poor body.

Just wanted to share my story.

Ta!

Well, congrats, on a great first WI! (And who cares which scale is "correct"?) You lost weight!! Yea!!!

Welcome to JC and the Boards. (Don't worry where you post - we'll find you. LOL)

As for the Diet Coke - yeah, sorry, you ARE going to have to cut down and eventually cut it out. :( It does get easier and if it makes it more of an incentive, you will actually lose MORE weight and retain LESS water if you cut out the Cokes.

So try to switch over to Caffeine Free DC first (which will help your body to adjust) and then STOP BUYING THE TWO LITER BOTTLES SO THEY DON'T CALL OUT YOUR NAME! :P

Seriously, most of us went through it but in the end, it will be worth it. :)

Keep up the great work!

Congrats on the loss! As a fellow Diet Coke addict, I can absolutely feel your pain. I used to easily go through a 12 pack in a couple of days. I still haven't managed to cut it out entirely, but I have cut it down significantly (I let myself have one can a day, after I've had at least 2 24-oz bottles of water). It crept up again after I hit my halfway point and I got a little overconfident, but Phyllis is absolutely right - I noticed the difference pretty quickly in the amount of water I retained and the smaller losses at my weigh ins. So it's now like any other "treat" - I have it so the cravings don't drive me mad, but I keep it in moderation. That really seems to be the key! You might try picking up those little cans they sell as mixers - until I switched to caffeine free, those were a fantastic way to keep me from overdoing it.
