Hi everyone! So I just finished week 4 on JC and I am down 14 pounds. Yay! One thing though that I have really found myself struggling with is being completely obsessed with my at-home scale. I often find myself weighing 2-3 times a day, and sometimes waking up early in the morning and getting up to see what might have changed overnight. I feel like a crazy person and I am just wondering if anyone else has or is struggling with this issue. What can I do to take my mind off of it? (Of course, I could always get rid of the scale).
Thanks!

Hi Amber, you just might have to get rid of the scale if it is causing you to weigh several times a day......its too convenient.

I, on the other hand, can weigh once a day a leave the scale alone til the next day....but you are not alone girlie, I have read where ALOT of folks here do the same thing you do. You really might have to kick it to da curb!;)

I'm attached to my scale too and weigh myself throughout the day. I can't help it and I don't really care cause even if I do gain a pound, I tell myself it's just bloating or whatever. I know you shouldn't be attached but if you can brush aside the times that the scale isn't showing you what you wanna see, I don't see the problem. It actually pushes me more when I see I lose a bit and I'm even beter during the rest of the day. Congrats on your weight loss and do what works for you. If it's not good for you, then take the batteries out and toss em!
xoxo Alina

First, congrats on the great weight loss! Way to go! :)

I weigh myself first thing in the morning when I'm naked. And I often weigh myself the last thing at night just because I'm always fascinated by the fact that I can "gain" weight during the day and miraculously it's gone by morning.

The evening weigh-in is more for my own amusement rather than an obsession.

You have to understand that there are dozens of reasons why your weight will fluctuate during the day and if you can't understand that, then by all means either lose the scale or as Alina suggested, toss the batteries until you're better able to control the impulse.

Truly try to limit yourself to once a day...if at all...so that you don't drive yourself up the wall.

Good luck! I have faith that you can take control of this "obsession" as you also have learned to take control of your eating. :)

I am like that too. BUT just a couple days ago, my scale broke. I had a digital WW scale and it worked for a long time, then one of my lovely children flooded the bathroom when she had a shower and the scale got all wet and I think she ruined the electronic display. OH well. I want a new one but will try and do without for now.

Thank you everyone for your stories and support! I'm really glad I decided to join this community; I know that this is going to be such a great help to me, and hopefully I can help others as well.
Things have gotten much better with the scale. I'm now down to checking my weight only once right when I wake up. It has certainly kept the stress of it to a minimum.
Thanks again,
Amber.

Good for you, Amber! That's the spirit! It's the process that's important and not some stupid arbitrary numbers on a scale. :)

I'm proud of you!
