I am wondering if anyone has tips on getting rid of those last 5 pounds.

My past few WIs have gone as follows:

7 pounds to go
7 pounds to go.
2lb Loss!:: 5 pounds to go!
Gain :( :: 6.5 pounds to go
.5lb Loss:: 6 pounds to go

So if anyone can help with tips or anything on kicking these last 6 pounds, I'm sure I'm not only one dealing with this.

I understand your frustration. I remember my last five pounds were the hardest.

There are a few things you can try. Change up whatever you're eating. For instance, if you're doing a lot of the pasta dishes, switch to the meat and fish dishes.

You also can go to the Planned Menu. Statistically you're supposed to lose the most on that plan because it is the most nutritionally balanced. (Personally, there were so many meals on the Planned Menu that I didn't like that I couldn't force myself to eat the stuff so I was willing to struggle and lose the last five (actually seven) and lose it in ounces rather than pounds.

Either up or change your exercise pattern. Watch your sodium intake carefully. If you're drinking anything like diet soda, cut that out completely. Drink a lot more water.

If you're doing DOMO (which you usually are at this stage) switch entirely to JC foods.

Be INCREDIBLY diligent about eating every 2-3 hours. Watch the fruits you're eating to make sure they're the right size and calories. (For instance, cut out bananas.)

I'm sure others will come up with some ideas.

Good luck! I know you can do it! :)

Just reached goal today - woo hoo!

I had an unbelievable almost 3-month plateau with 3 pounds to go. Up a pound, down a pound, etc. I was doing about 2 days on my own - meticulously counting calories and balancing food groups (like exchanges, but not counting by exchanges).

So I went back to almost 100% Jenny. Now, in three weeks I'm .4 pounds under goal. Go figure.

I did change up my exercise a little (actually reduced it).

I think the key is change something. Anything.

I don't have any tips on losing the last few pounds but just wanted you to know that you are not alone. I have been struggling to lose my last 5 pounds since before the summer began. Last week I stopped doing MOMOs and actually lost 1.6 pounds. Again, this week I didn't do any MOMOs but wasn't able to achieve the same amount of exercise as last week. Given my weight this week is up a few ounces, I'm not feeling real confident that I will have another loss at my WI on Sunday.

Phyllis, great ideas. Thx.

It took me as long to lose my last 5 pounds as it did to lose my first 30! I had done the personalized menu from day one and it worked well for me, but for the last 5, after hitting a plateau, I did the planned menu (with just a few substitutions of things I just couldn't stomach), and bam, 3 weeks later I was under goal. I really went back to the basics, I actually took my armband off and went back to writing everything down as I ate it and did jenny for almost every meal instead of doing 2 days on my own. The last few pounds are the worst, but I know you can do it. Good luck!

Have you checked your measurements? I noticed even when I didn't lose weight for a week, that I did still lose inches...and that might just be the motivator you need to kick those last few pounds. I know several people have suggested to just eat JC, but when I went off it completely and really continued to watch what I was eating on my own, I continued to lose weight. And that is the idea right, to be able to do it on your own and at least maintain what you've worked so hard to lose. The other thing is to make certain that you are eating at least the 1200 calories...you don't want to eat less than that, because your body starves and messes with your metabolism, which has the opposite effect. Stay positive...you'll get there! Good luck!

Eating more on my own and tracking faithfully allowed me to maintain (=plateau!). I had to get closer to the full JC program to lose (pounds or inches). Counting calories seems easy, but I truly believe it is more accurate when dealing with JC products.

WOW!!! It is great to read other people's posts about the same thing that I am going through...even though it sucks...I reached my halfway weight fast, but than when I was down to the last five...bam I put on 5 pounds. this is really depressing and it makes me mad, I have brought JC food back in completely and I lost 2 pounds, but than I gain 1 and lose .4...I just do not have the money coming in as before and so I cannot go do the full 7 days on JC, but I do 4 and three, but even though I watch what I eat I seem to still gain. At first, I was doing Insanity, but I quit due to the impact and I think I was gaining from that, but I am just getting discouraged because I have gained for the past 5 weeks and it irritates me to the max....What can I do???

OK, so you switched from JC foods a few days a week to doing DOMO to save money, right? What does your JCC have to say about this? Does she have any suggestions? Are you reviewing what you're PLANNING to eat off plan with her BEFORE you eat it or are simply reporting WHAT you ate after you had an unsatisfactory weigh-in?

And how close are you really doing when you're watching what you eat? I mean, I get it. It's REALLY easy to think you're doing okay but when you analyze it you can see where you might have had a little more starch or too much protein or fat.

It's REALLY hard to do when you're not either measuring your food (like the old WW) or paying attention to not only portion sizes but also the ratio of protein to fat to dairy to carbs.

One of my "tricks" is to take my meal out of the plastic tray and put it on a regular dinner plate so that I get used to visually seeing just how much of what I'm eating. I got to the point where I was actually counting how many bites of meat I was taking just so I knew whether I was eating too much protein. The same went with carbs. (Yes, I'm weird.) LOL And as for the fat, I never add some because I figure there's usually more fat in something off plan than I would be able to guess or know, so I just assume I'm getting in enough fat.

Anyway, sorry you're having such a hard time losing that last weight and even seeing the occasional gain. :(

But may I make a suggestion. If you have to cut out JC meals, why don't you cut out breakfast and snacks totally. They are the easiest to do exchanges on. There are bunches of 100 calorie snacks out there to choose from that will match the JC exchanges and they're much more affordable. And most of the breakfast choices are easy to replicate. Maybe that way you can afford to do the JC lunch and dinner seven days a week and still save money. (Just a thought.) :)

Hang in there. It WILL eventually come off. And besides, it's not like your life going to change that much when you hit goal. You still have to watch what you eat for the rest of your life. So maintenance is just going to take a little longer to get to. (I know, that sucks, but it's probably true.) :(

I know you will see that "magic" number sooner rather than later. :)

Phyllis,

Thank you very much for your response. I think that I might try to take out the breakfasts and snacks to help save me money. Also, I really focus on what I eat and I know that at dinner I can only have 4 oz of meat and typically I like to fill up on the free foods such as cucumbers, tomatoes, and such. I eat a salad everyday at lunch and even measure out my dressing that goes on it. When I dine out, I always choose grilled, and everything on the side, so I can portion control the small things. I have my appointment tomorrow and I have not seen a difference in weight again this week. I am sooo frustrated and I know maintaining is way better than gaining but it is like my body does not want to lose weight. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I feel that I want to give up because there is no difference, but than I think that if I give up I will just gain weight.

Typically, my JCC has me fill out my menu for the past 2 weeks of everything that I eat in a day and than she reviews it, but she says that I am making healthy choices and she has even provided me with meals on own ideas. She has talked to me about my exercise as well and actually told me to maybe cut down on it, so I just do not know what i am doing wrong.

thanks so much for listening and giving me guidance. It is much appreciated and I will try out some of them as well!!

Alaina
