Hi my friends. I found on that I am losing my job. I lost 5 pounds between Friday and this morning. Needless to say I had a fantastic weigh in. I wish I was excited about it. but I know it's just the stress. I'm bummed but not even considering giving up. I decided that no matter where I work or don't work this is about my health. I'm in it for the long haul. May as well start a job search in a bad economy with my health and confidence.

Norma,

Sorry to hear about your job loss. It's epidemic.

My husband works for the PO and you would think that would be a safe, dependable job. Uh, not so much. They just heard that they are laying off over 250,000+ employees and closing about 250 post offices.

He's a few years short of retirement and we know they're closing his facility in the next 2-5 months. We just don't know when or what he's going to do.

Anyway, I'm glad you have such a great attitude about such a sad situation. You're a bright, determined lady. I suspect you'll find something else soon. As they say, when a door closes, a window opens. Hope yours opens onto something bigger and better. Hang in there! :)

Hi,

We lost our postmistress here in NH. We are a small town and she lives here (for several years) and knew what was going on and who was who. She used to remind us to vote, when the property tax bills were due, etc. They forced her into early retirement and we have had two postal people since who messed up our mail. I know, I know, new on the job, give them a break but why couldn't they have left her in place for a few more years?

As for losing jobs, you are getting support here which is great. I understand some of it (stress) as we are having layoffs now at my company. I hope I survive....

Sorry to hear Norma...
Hey if you need someone to help with a resume / cover letter - lemme know - that's what I do for work - I'd be happy to help you or look at what you've already created
All the best to you...my hubby lost his job last summer and was out of work for about 3 months...it was a tough transition, but it turned out to be a really good thing for him to take advantage of other opportunities.

DonnaLee thank you so much for the offer! I do need to get my resume together. I have worked for the same organization for 11 years. Of course I applied for promotions but doing so did not require a resume. I will keep in touch with you! = ]
