Good news on the walking too. I know from experience that you have to start slow and build it up slowly. I started with 1 lap around the building. Now I am up to 2 miles during my lunch!!!
I just ordered a new recumbent bike to ride during the winter. It will be easier on my hips and my knees while still giving me a cardio workout.
I know you can do it!!!

I'm also so happy that you found a scale and can accurately record your number. Whoo-hooo! Thank the nice scrap yard man from all of us.
As for uploading a picture. OK, go to photobucket.com. Upload your photo.
Then when you've done that, it will show your picture with options underneath it.
Click on the SHARE.
Then click on GET LINK CODE.
Then click on IMG for Bulletin Boards and Forums
Then right click on the IMG set of numbers and hit - SELECT ALL - then hit COPY.
Then post something on the JC Board. At the top of the REPLY section you'll see an icon to the right of the smiley face. Click on that and it says INSERT LINK.
Then right click your mouse again and hit PASTE.
And that's it. (BTW, thank Melissa - Blessed4Life2 - for teaching ME how to do it! LOL)
Can't wait to see your pic!

On to good news; so I decided to increase my walking to 5,000 steps and today I walked 5,300 steps on my walk and finished the day with 7,000 steps – which was close to tying my all-time best, but even better – did not leave me feeling like I was sore and about to fall apart if I tried to stand up.
Now let’s talk about the approaching elephant in the room … HALLOWEEN … here comes the candy, here comes the candy. No I am not tempted for all this month I have been avoiding buying the candy, but now it is all going on sale as the stores rush to empty their shelves. So I bought the candy that I will be handing out on Monday, but I am not keeping it at my house. Thus the bags are tucked away at my girlfriend’s house, in the cupboard down low where a tall man like me can’t see it without bending over. Out of sight, not in my house, hey I might forget the candy is even there in which case the kiddies are out of luck on Monday night. So I hope all of you are preparing for the holiday (should you be observing it) in a similar fashion that does not sabotage each of your eating habits. And with that said, what’s everyone dressing up for costumes? I’ve gotten some glow in the dark makeup for my face and some fake fangs, and with a wave of these additions the Ren. Faire costume becomes a walking dead Ren. Faire costume for the Halloween dance.
Keep apples and grapes nearby to avoid temptation of candy everyone, and tune in next time for another fun filled up date on REJOICING IN TODAY’S SUCCESS … which incidentally is my motto for the time being, taking pride and joy in the day to day accomplishments, no matter how small. It is helping me to feel awesome and maintain a positive attitude, and I hope it will do the same for all of you. Until next time.

I have 4 kids so chocolate is bound to come home with them Monday night...but our Halloween rule is that they each pick their 30 favorite pieces, and all the rest goes to work with Dad the very next morning. They're allowed 1 piece a day for a month. (How mean am I?
P.S. I usually get sick of everyone eating candy every day after 2-3 weeks of this, and tell them to just eat it all at once and be done with it. hahahaha

It's sad because for the first five years I lived here, we used to really decorate the house and would have either no kids or only one or two.
I wound up going across the road to a family community and would stand in the street handing out candy which didn't work well due to families being overly cautious at this stranger in the street and that was understandable.
Anyway, now instead of candy, I just raid the piggy bank for change in case a stray kid does manage to make it into our neighborhood. They like money too and I don't have to worry about unwanted candy in the house.
As for dressing up, I'm not really dressing up for Halloween but as a side "acting" job, I sometimes work as a "fortune teller" at parties which is what I've been doing for the last two weeks. It's basically "reading people" which is something I'm pretty good at and since I'm in costume with my "crystals," "tarot cards" and a knowledge of the basic lines for palm "reading," it's fun and guests seem to enjoy it.
In fact, that's what I'll be doing later today. (Hey, it's moeny! LOL The writing market has shrunk considerably.)
So unless you want to have visits from the "tooth" and "fat" fairies - step away from the candy!!!

And while I wait for the scale at the centre to register my weight, there is still good news to share! Inches have been lost! I have lost 1/2 an inch of each of my arms at the biceps, an inch on my chest and an inch on my belly! So that is great! If this were a movie now would be the point where the mysterious narrator with the deep voice would say "it has begun" and then we would shift into a montage (spelling?) with some fun music that summarizes the next several months of my journey. but seeing as this is real life, I'll just say that I was pleased to see the small improvements in the inches, I am glad that I am able to perform functions that just three weeks ago were difficult for me, and since the wheel in my car has been glidding freely as of late I tried lowering it one notch to where it was six months ago, and while it did rub into my tummy again with that lowering it was not as bad as it had been when i was forced to raise it to the highest notch. So there are lots of good things to celebrate as I continue on this journey. Perhaps this coming tuesday that scale will register me, but if it doesn't then I will not be detoured for ... cue narrator voice .... IT HAS BEGUN.
Oh and I can also walk to my mail box now without getting winded, got to love 45 minute walks in the mall, woohoo.
So to recap, 3 inches down with more to come!
Oh and Annie, none of us will tell your boss, we promise.

You and your girl make quite the handsome couple!
BTW/I love your idea about focusing on something each day that you really want to do...like you said "driving a blue convertible corvette". That is such a great thing.. to remember all of our dreams and not let them slip away!
You are such a great asset to this forum! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and kindness!

Such great pics!! You guys make a cute couple. I'm so glad you found a scale. I've found sometimes I can't tell if I've lost any weight but the scale shows otherwise. Other times the scale doesn't seem to move but I've lost inches and clothes fit better. JC is a great program and easy to follow. I've kept in mind your commitment to exercise and that has helped get me moving...am down another 2.4 pounds this week so 4 pounds away from halfway.
For Halloween I plan to watch scary movies and have a snack bag of 100 calorie pop secret popcorn. We don't get trick or treaters because we live in the country.
Keep posting!

Okay ... this should work ... so if it did then the first one is Jessica (my girlfriend) and I in our outfits, then me striking a "manly" pose all by myself, followed by a picture of Jessica and I with Moonie.
Great shots! Have you thought about auditioning for the part of King Henry? You'd be perfect!
P.S. Glad your friends found some writing work. I'm finding it but the pay is sooooo ridiculously low - $1 or $2 an article - which means that I'd literally be working for change in an hour - that I've passed. But glad that SOME people are getting more lucrative writing gigs.

Greetings friends, fellow journey travels, hard workers and dedicated weight loss intendants. I hope that everyone had a safe and pleasant holiday and that like a great storm you each weathered the flurry of calories that passed by our eyes in the form of candy and other ghoulish treats! As for myself, I am looking forward to weighing in this week and seeing how much I have lost. I am keeping my fingers crossed and my exercise up, so I hope it is a good number.
My week has been so-so; I am doing well with the food and exercise but was feeling a bit lonely and blue. We went to the Halloween dance on the 29th, and even though 20 people were supposed to be there only 5 showed up, so the dance almost kind of sucked but after the first hour Jessica (my girlfriend, for those who were not clear on her name) volunteered us to go get our karaoke stuff and bring it back to the party. So we rushed back to her place, got all my karaoke things and her little TV and then headed back to the party. So the last hour and half of the dance saw everyone karaoking for a little bit, and then dancing for a little bit, and then karaoking again and then dancing again. So the second half of the dance was more fun than the first half; but mostly I felt bad for Nicole to have such a poor turn out after she and Sara put so much work into having the studio decorated so nice.
Now I confess that I had two Halloween cookies at the dance, and last night I had maybe 10 or so fun-size candy pieces, but dang it I think I made it through Halloween pretty good. I did buy some grapes to have to snack on last night at the store, but alas ... even though they were in the "seedless grapes" area, they turned out to be seeded
On a happier note, I went walking in the mall yesterday for my exercise and had the pleasure of seeing all the little kids out in their costumes for trick or treating. It was great fun to see this, for the mall is usually deserted to a fault, but yesterday it was jam-packed for the first forty minutes of my walk. There were costumes of all shapes and kinds, one kid was Pac-man, another was a rocket, and there were numerous super heroes to be seen with lots of Batmans and Green Lanterns as well as some transformers. Many princesses and fairies also visited the mall, along with a number of Super Mario Brothers (gee, do you think those kids like video games? Hint, hint, mom and dad!). One family group caught my attention especially because it was a group of 5 little boys, the eldest of which was dressed like Ghostface (the killer from the Scream movies) while his four younger siblings were all super heroes. Now what made this group so much fun to watch was that their dad had placed the other four in charge of making the eldest (who was probably 12 or 13) behaved himself. So each store they came to for trick or treating, the younger brothers would hop out in front of the eldest and tell him something like “you’d better behave in here and not try to stab anyone” or my favorite was when the little boy dressed as Thor hopped in front of his brother and held up his plastic hammer to say “Ghostface, you shall do no wrong to the candy!” Got to love it right?
Sadly, as the little ones faded away with their loot, out came the teens and the 20 year olds in their non-costumes or their slutty-costumes. Honestly, I can understand a woman wearing such an outfit in private for her special someone, or even at a private party so she can show off in her closed circle of friends … but why go to the mall? I just don’t get it.
Anyway, switching to other good news, I made five laps in the mall yesterday to walk for over 6,000 steps and hit new best total steps for the entire day at just below 8,000 steps according to my armband thingy. I am very proud of myself for this; it just goes to show how easy it will be to extend my exercise and total number of steps each day by adding laps to my walk. when I walk 3 laps I come in around 3800 steps, four puts me at just over or about 5,000 and five laps sends me over 6,000. Imagine, one day I'll be doing ten laps and the armband will tell me I walked like 15,000 steps or something!
Anyway, I had planned to weigh in tomorrow and have my meeting with my consultant, but recent family plans have altered slightly. I was intending to go and visit with my brother and his family this Friday and Saturday, but now I have to go tomorrow (Wednesday) and return the next day. So I am going to see if I can meet with my consultant on Friday and do my weigh in then. Well that about covers all the news in my neck of the woods; let’s see what’s happening in your areas!
