Way more than 200 to loose

Though if I may before I get to that, I've noticed that many people have these weight loss tracker rulers in their signatures, can anyone shoot me a message with a set of instructions on how I can set up one of my own? those are cool.
Now to business. My name is David and I am 29 years old and today is the second day of my Jenny Craig program; and I have done well! Right now the centre has me on a special 3000 calorie diet; but I am telling you I just can't bring myself to eat that much food. Yesterday I managed to get about 2500 calories in me, so I will continue to do my best to follow my program but I am not sure I'll be able to make 3000 each day. The food so far tastes great, and I am growing as a shopper at the super market (learning to become a healthy shopper instead of a tasty shopper so to speak).
For my daily exercise I've been taking walks in the mall. Right now I am managing 3 laps (its a very long mall) which brings me to about 4000 steps and just under two miles walking distance. The walks last about 45 minutes, which is what the program calls for me to do, so for now I am very proud of myself. I synced my arm band last night and found that I had burned almost 6000 calories for the entire day and was so psyched. I am looking forward to what the little device has to tell me tonight.
I am sorry I can't tell you how much I weigh currently, I am too big for the scale. But I hope in the coming weeks that that fact will change and I will beable to report solid numbers regarding weight loss. Until then, good luck to us all and I'll be back to post updates on my progress here each week or whenever I need a little extra motivation.
Remember, we can all do this!

It sounds like you have a good plan in place. This board has lots of good tips and advice. Some of the things that really helped me... I keep the mindset that I only eat what's on my menu, drink lots of water, use your measurements as a tool to see your progress, most importantly it's a lifestyle change but one that is very achievable.
I find I used to eat so much crap and now I'm eating more fruit and veggies I ever had in years....probably a major reason the pounds crept on. Also put your meals on a plate so you can start getting a sense of portions. I did get a headache in the first few days as my body adjusted to what I was feeding it but it went away.
Another great thing is to reach out and find a buddy you connect with. I have someone in Maryland who we email back and forth to keep us accountable and exchange ideas. There is also a guys section so you may find some good info and contacts there also.
Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to reach out and encourage you as the program is amazing. I'm in Alabama so I am surrounded by loads of good home cooking but I would rather be healthy and feel good so I can resist especially when the JC food is so good.
Best wishes,
Audrey

Well I have reached day 7 and I am still going strong. I had my first consultation in the centre, you know apart from when I signed up and when they brought me back for my three day check up. Answered a similar set of questions again, got my homework on what I need to read for the next week. Sad to report that I was not able to register my weight on the scale at the centre, but my consultant continued to pressure me to find a scale that has a high enough limit. Actually, before I continue I have to say that this continue pressure from the person who is suppose to have my back for emotional support is a negative mark against the program. yes, I have a lot to loose, yes I want to know how much I am loosing each week, but hey if it takes a few weeks for me to come down to a size that lets me use their scale, then that is fine with me; so it should be fine with her too but its not. Second bad mark, and last too so far before i get back to positive reports, while I was at the consultation I took out my iphone and ipod from my pockets. At the sight of these things the consultant asked me why i had both items. I explained that when I go for my walks, which I did after the meeting, that I like to listen to an audiobook on the ipod, and use the iphone to record how many steps I take during the walk. She snorted at that notion and pointed out that the armband is a far more acurate tool so I don't need the iphone ... right, and the fact that I want someone to be able to call me incase they need me, or vice versa, has absolutely no possible function either, right? So she spent a few minutes giving me a product speech, you know when the sales person tries to convince you that their product is the best and can't be beat, before we got on with the meeting. I've alread bought the armband, so why does she need to make the speech?
Awe anyway, so thats enough venting. I think I'll need to switch consultants though if this continues to be the tone of future sessions.
On to the good news that I can report. I feel very possitive and that my skin has gotten tighter in the "flabby" areas, not so loose or able to pinch and pull away into a peak. I can also report that when I got behind the steering wheel in my truck yesterday and today, that my belly was no longer rubbing up against the bottom curve of the wheel (one of the reasons I knew I needed to do something because I can't raise the wheel any more). So that is a great sign as far as I am concerned that this is going to work well for me. Another good thing I noticed yesterday as I was dressing for my walk that my work out shorts felt a little looser in the thigh area, not quite catching as much as it had 6 days ago. So yay for me. I'll keep those small positive results in mind and I'll get out the meassuring tape and see if I have lost any inches in a few more days. In the mean time, I am enjoying the food and my walks, and I have set up the reward system for myself that for each week that I complete in this program (meaning that I stay on the menu and don't stray, while also getting my exercise in) then I'll reward myself with a new audio book to listen to. Thus, I have something new each week to listen to while I walk, so my reward renforces my activity, good thinking huh?
So bottom line, I feel good, i am enjoying the program, I feel that it is working for me and I know that I am going to stick with it and suceed.

Don't even hesitate to switch JCCs. That one sounds like a real "winner".
I know what you are talking about with the steering wheel!!! I had the same thing!!!
How about finding a trucking company that would have a floor scale? They aren't real accurate but it would give you a ballpark. I am also thinking that the post office might have a scale in the back. You could call and ask the postmaster if they would help you out. Any company that sends out material usually needs to weigh it before shipping.

Even if its hard to get on a scale you will be able to tell by how loose your clothes start getting like you have been. I still need to get a measuring tape..keep forgetting.
The other thing that helps me a lot is to go the boards here. Post in the new members forum as you have questions ...there are several people out there who have lost 100 pounds and more. I am on week 6 and still find it to be a great program. And I don't do the metabolic max armband thing figure I will consider if need to later but I like my droid apps.
Feel free to email me if I can help with any questions.... audreylest@aol.com
I look forward to hearing more of your successes!

Greetings friends,
Well I wish I could report that week two was as perfect as the first week, but nope. Had a few hiccups, and I definantly felt a mood change ... maybe mood is not the right word ... I guess the best description is that the "new" factor of the program has worn off. The armband is not the new toy anymore, it is a tool still and I still like it, but the excitement of the program is gone I guess. I imagine the excitement will come back when the scale registers my weight (a definant sign of progress).
That was not today, but that is not to say that I don't have good things to report. First off, I am at my new centre and working on the new consultant thing. The first big difference I've noted between this centre and the other one is that these people have a lot more explanation and suggestion (very good sign). They had a clear cut reasoning for why I have been placed on a 3000 calorie diet, and they gave me further instruction on how to make more use of my armband. These two facts cheered me up a great deal today when I returned with my meals for the week.
Also let me just say that the food for the second week prepared menu was not as good to my taste buds as the second week. I will never, repeat, never try those chicken fajitas again, or the popcorn YUCK. And the honey mustard sticks OH MY GOD bad breath that would drive off a dragon! The veggie chips were also something to gag on. There, no more complaining, I promise, but can't I just have s'more bars to replace those?
Okay, next good thing that the new consultant put me on, was to assure me that walking 3 times a week is good and that i shouldn't try to kill myself with the 5 days. I had one day when I came back from the mall and I laid down on my bed to relax for a while, but when i got up (about 30 minutes later or so) holy crap ever part of my body hurt and i couuldn't really walk ... i had to ... hmm ... wabble, stumble, try not to scream, my way down the hall to the front room. Where, upon sitting myself down the couch I fell asleep for about half an hour. when I woke up, all better. I guess my body was telling me "sleep - now! need to reset!"
yay found this so posting fast before it vanishes again.

Glad to hear you changed centers. It sounds like this new one will be a much better fit for you. I also had a not-so-great week -- maybe it's something in the air. I had friends in town and ate off plan about 50% of the week, and felt miserable and tired. But, I just weighed in this morning and still managed to lose half a pound. Miracles do happen I guess, hahaha. As for the food... if there are certain things you don't like, or things you see on an upcoming menu that you want to substitute for something you really enjoy, definitely tell your JCC. I'm a picky eater, so I'm on the all personalized menu. I'm not sure if all personalized would be an option for you yet, but as you sample some more foods and figure out what you do and don't like you should be able to personalize here and there as you go. I stick to the same 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 4 dinners, and 3 snacks every single week. I know it sounds boring, but I like those options best and know I will actually look forward to eating them rather than waste them. So if you like the smores bars, you should be able to substitute those for some of the snacks you don't like. Keep up the good work!

I am sooooooooo proud of you for so many reasons!
First, I'm glad you switched centers. This one sounds like a far better fit for you. You have to have a "teamwork" feeling with your JCC and your previous one didn't sound too much like she was a team player. So as my Aussie art teacher would say, "Good on you!"
Then you started to walk, really walk! That's fantastic! Yes, you're using muscles that aren't used to that kind of work out but they'll get used to the routine soon and you'll be able to up your walking.
The other thing about walking three days a week instead of five is that you work out, you give your muscles a chance to relax and "heal" for a day and then you start over again.
And, personally I'm thinking you must have lost a bunch of weight to already see in such a short time that your stomach is getting smaller and your skin much more pliant. That's FABULOUS!!
As for the food, if they have you on the planned menu, it is supposed to be the most nutritiously sound method and it also gives you a chance to try out everything on the menu. But, like you, I wasn't all that thrilled with many of the selections (although I like the veggie chips and the fajitas), so I switched to the personalized menu. I do tend to often eat the same things day after day and week after week. And, yes, it MIGHT have slowed my weight loss a LITTLE but it is so much more helpful to me to be able to look forward to food I enjoy rather than food I'm dreading having to eat. Blech!
As for the scale, who really cares about the numbers? I mean, yes, ultimately you want to know how much you're losing in pounds but it's your body's fat loss and shape that is what you and others will see...unless you have someone standing in the bathroom with you when you get on the scale!
When you lose enough to get on a scale, you will. And I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised at the weight you've lost. In the meantime, start watching how many belt loops you have to pull tighter.
Hang in there, kiddo. We're are ALL rooting for you and know that you are going to be one of those people that we'll see in a poster on the JC Center walls when you've hit goal.
Thanks for keeping us in touch. I've been thinking about you and hoping that you were doing well and staying on track. You are an inspiration!
Hugs,
Phyllis

And a quick question ... how does the arm band know that i am a asleep? because it always makes me laugh to see it record me being asleep when i take it off to take a shower; I'm going to develop a reputation as being a person who takes many naps if these records ever come to light

Haha! That is too funny...I was leaning up against a wall at a sales meeting and it said that I was asleep for an hour!!! Lets hope my manager doesn't get wind of that report!!

And while I wait for the scale at the centre to register my weight, there is still good news to share! Inches have been lost! I have lost 1/2 an inch of each of my arms at the biceps, an inch on my chest and an inch on my belly! So that is great! If this were a movie now would be the point where the mysterious narrator with the deep voice would say "it has begun" and then we would shift into a montage (spelling?) with some fun music that summarizes the next several months of my journey. but seeing as this is real life, I'll just say that I was pleased to see the small improvements in the inches, I am glad that I am able to perform functions that just three weeks ago were difficult for me, and since the wheel in my car has been glidding freely as of late I tried lowering it one notch to where it was six months ago, and while it did rub into my tummy again with that lowering it was not as bad as it had been when i was forced to raise it to the highest notch. So there are lots of good things to celebrate as I continue on this journey. Perhaps this coming tuesday that scale will register me, but if it doesn't then I will not be detoured for ... cue narrator voice .... IT HAS BEGUN.
Oh and I can also walk to my mail box now without getting winded, got to love 45 minute walks in the mall, woohoo.
So to recap, 3 inches down with more to come!
Oh and Annie, none of us will tell your boss, we promise.
