In February I was at an all-time high of 172.5 lbs -- I'm 5'7" and 64 years. I noticed that my DH quit taking photos of me at events & on vacations. I would catch my reflection in a window & think "who is that fat woman?" So I figured I'd better do something quick. On my own I lost 10 lbs between February and Labor Day, but I was doing what I always do -- cutting out meals. A friend of mine had only 10 lbs to lose -- on Jenny she went from 117 to 107 lbs. She's barely 5'2", petite and 48 years old -- she looks fabulous in a bikini! It worked for her and she is back to her former size 0. So I thought, "if she can do it so can I!" BTW, she goes off & on JC as soon as she sees a couple of lbs creep back.

I started Jenny 18 days ago, using the Metabolic Max program to religiously track my progress every day. By the end of the first week the program showed that I should have lost 2 lbs (7000 calorie deficit), but I had only lost one. Then the next week again I should have lost 2, but I had only lost .4. But at the start of this 3rd week -- WOW! 2.2 lbs in 2 days! And I'm not doing anything differently. I know I can't expect to continue at that rate, but I just wanted to share with you that sometimes it takes your body a while to get the message that 'things are gonna change around here!'. I still have a way to go, but I'm determined to be at 135 lbs, my weight up til I was 33 years old. I want to reach that by my 65th birthday in March and maintain it for the rest of my life. My doctor is always trying to get me on statins because my cholesterol is elevated. I bet that when I lose the weight, my cholesterol will normalize.

Good for you...I am glad things are working out for you. I know you can do it. I am on the MM program also. I don't go by what they say as far as how much weight I am losing. I use it more for how much exercise I am getting. I am happy as long as I have more going out then going in LOL!! Good luck to you and keep posting :)

Way to go!

I am 5'2 and was almost 180 when I started. Unlike your friend, I was never one of those people who looked good being at 110 or less with my body frame. My goal was 132 and it took a while but I did get there and kept it off for three years.

Now I'm 62 and it's taking a little bit longer to lose the 10 extra pounds I regained and I might go a little lower than the 132 this time but I know it's just going to be a journey and not a quick trip.

You're going to do great with your attitude at whatever weight you choose! :)

Hi,

I lost a lot of weight first two weeks, but did not noticed any slackening in the waistband. Now this last week (week 3), I noticed my pants are getting loose but I only lost 1 lb. I expected a bigger drop than that since I can see it in my clothes and how they fit this week. This adventure is interesting.

You may or may not see the scale drop even though your pants are getting looser (BTW, congrats for that!). Your body's weight distribution is also shifting, especially if you're exercising. So who cares what the numbers on a scale show if the sizes in your closet get smaller? :)

Love the attitude!

Yes, your cholesterol will come down very quickly indeed. Just like your dr, mine wanted to put me on meds too....HBP meds as well, and I said give me a month to lose weight and I will come back and re-test.....needless to say, she really didnt believe me, she hears this all the time. Well low and behold, I DID IT!!!! I went back after losing over 10-15 lbs (dont remember) and retested.....my stats came down substancially! After losing 25 they were all normal. So long story short....you dont have to lose all that much before you start to see positive results.

I had been on statins for a while (my family has a history of heart problems) and I forgot to fill a prescription or something and I didn't take them for a couple of months but I also was on JC and losing weight so when I went back to the doctor to tell him about how I had somehow forgotten about the statins for several months, he re-tested me to see what dose to give me. But as it turned out, my numbers dropped so dramatically (not as low as it was on the statins) that he said, "Nope, don't take them. Just keep doing whatever you're doing because it's working." :)
