First time reaching out for support on the forum. I reached my goal weight six months ago but over time have gained back 13 lbs. I'm feeling bummed out and unmotivated. Has anyone else been there? How did you get out of the rut? Thanks!

I hear you, I hit maintenance in March and this is HARD! I'm about 7 pounds over where I want to be, but only 2 pounds over my allowable range. I'll get it back where it belongs, but I want it back where I was 3 months ago! Anyway, I've found I've had to mentally smack myself and go "back to the basics". Re-read my original Jenny materials to re-set my head. I also went back to weekly weigh-ins. That was part of my problem, having a 2 or 3 week span between weigh-ins, I found I felt like it was permission to cheat because I had 3 weeks until I had to worry about it. Ugh - good luck.

Maintenance is difficult for everyone after being on a structured path. But I did keep the weight off for three years and when the scale creeped up to the 10 lb. mark, I made the call and went back to JC.

I STRONGLY advise you to do the same. It's likely not going to get better on its own and you already know that the program works. So make the call before you find yourself even heavier. You will be amazed at how easily you'll fall back into the program and how happy you'll be when you start to see the scale heading back down instead of up.

You CAN do this! You've done it before and you can do it again. Just don't hesitate.

We're all here for you and you're not the first person by a long shot to who had to go back to JC. There's even a whole board devoted to RETURNING CLIENTS.

We'll be here for you. You did something nice for yourself before, so why not do it again.

Thanks Becki for the great feedback. I think you nailed it about the weigh ins.
I was debating whether to weigh in at my appt. today but think its best to get back on a regular schedule with JC.

I am new to posting on this board, but so glad I am here. I only had 15 lbs to lose, but it has been so hard. I was .5 away from my goal weight before the holiday season and thought I would have tried to be good and get there, but the cravings took over and I totally slipped with turkey dinners and sweets around me for the last 2 weeks. I am scared to even go back and weigh myself. This is the worst, most frustrating time, but glad to read everyone else's stories as well..

Elizabeth, you're not alone and don't beat yourself up too much about your slip. It's not how many times we fall that defines us; it's how quickly we get back up.

Go back to JC and you'll be at goal before you know it.

Just a question - have you been doing your own meals since you hit halfway - at least several times a week to prepare you for maintenance - or have you been eating only JC foods (with the exception of the holidays)?

Hi Elizabeth,

I've struggled for the last week and a 1/2. Being around food and family (even though I love them) was tough between Christmas and New Years. I'm back on track today and looking forward to 2012. I am nervous about my weigh-in on Thursday but I'll get through it and move on.

Welcome to the boards - they are great!

Thanks so much for all of your encouragement! So glad I am here. I had not signed on for a few weeks, but this may give me the motivation I need to pick up the phone and get back to my consultant. I am not doing well with transitioning over to other food, I find the temptation to eat pasta and bigger portions so difficult, I have gone back to just Jenny food, but I have started to get bored of some of the meals. Any suggestions to add some simple changes to the meals? Also, how do you deal with it when your husband keeps bringing home fatty ice cream and sweets in the house. I can't stop thinking about the ice cream in the freezer! My husband still had the same weight he was at age 22 and he is now 42 and can eat anything..me, not so much..
The 5 lbs I added on over the holidays are not coming off and my sugar/carb cravings are getting really bad!
Thanks again everyone for any advice that has worked for you..

Elizabeth, personally I lived, for the most part, on the JC pasta dishes.

Two of our most successful JCers put together sites where you can find ways to volumize and change up foods and some great ideas for some wonderful dishes. Check them out.

How many meals were you doing on your own before you went on maintainence?
I ask because I think it's important to starting doing those MOYN (meals on your own) before you get to main. so you don't feel like the bottom fell out beneath you.
When I hit halfway, my JCC encouraged me to start doing it on my own and would give me cookbook and recipie ideas to try. That really has been key to me not gaining back my weight (I was 306!).

The other component, in my opinion, is "What is going on with you emotionally?" What are your triggers? That plays a part as well.

Best to you!
