Well, I officially met half way today! I've lost 46.1 lbs! Which is really great. But when I signed up I am sure I was told that at 1/2 way I got the 1/2 the cost of my enrollment cost back. But I called and they said I must have misunderstood. Today I was told it was refunded after I met my goal weight and kept it off for 1 year. Nope I'm sure no one told me that.
But what is worse..is I feel that a trust has been broken between me and my JC consultant. I am already on 100% meals on my own due to job lose and lack of $ to buy the food.

Sorry you're having trouble. But don't let a misunderstanding stop you from taking care of yourself! Take a deep breath - let it roll - and realize that you are doing this for yourself - for your health, etc., NOT for the money back. Look at your paperwork from when you signed up and see if there is anything written about it. I believe I was told I'd get half back if I met my goal. I don't remember anything about the keeping it off for a year part but that may be. Just don't let this railroad your progress - hang in there.

I thought it had always been after a year of maintenance. But that's why we sign contracts (to protect both parties). Details are in there.

It's funny because the program I signed up with several years ago was different than the current one and I just happened to ask my JCC what the difference was and she told me that in the case of the new plan was that you have to reach your goal and keep it off for one year to qualify for half the sign-up fee returned. (I get different incentives.)

There may have been some miscommunication but I agree with DebJoy. Remember why you signed up and congratulations on doing so well! Think about it. Would you rather still be carrying those extra pounds or get your money back? More to the point, if they didn't offer half the enrollment back, wouldn't it still be worth having lost almost 50 lbs?

Don't let this misunderstanding stop you from continuing on the road you've taken or slow down your commitment to yourself and continue on your weight loss journey. After all, you're more than halfway there!

Keep up the GREAT work!

But that's the same deal I got when I signed up in 1993, so it's not new.

Sloppy paperwork and customer service at my center. I never signed a contract..in fact they just sent me the unsigned contract. I thought I had a friend and someone supporting me at the center. My consultant and I talked several times about the 1/2 way mark and the refund. Unfortunately, it wasn't just a one time occurrence.

That being said- I have not decided if I'll be going back to the center. Its not about money- its about trust. I am however, tracking my weight loss on my own and eating right. I am no longer eating JC food. I have been eating on my own for a while now and still losing weight.

Thank you for the encouragement.

Yeah, you did misunderstand. You have to hit your goal weight and keep that weight within 5 pounds (up or down) for one year...then you get the money back. I have 5 months to go and cha ching....$$$$

I hit halfway last week.
At that time I got $50 off my order.
As the others have said, after you have been at goal for a year (+/- 5 lbs), you get 1/2 your enrollment fee back.

It all depends on your contract.
