Okay so to save some extra cash when I go to get my food from Jenny I wasn't going to get any snacks or desserts. Instead I was going to make a dessert off this website and have it last me the whole week. Has anyone ever tried this before? Will you still loose weight if you do this?

I talked to my Consultant when I first joined and told them the food was expensive and I needed to cut some of it out. I do my own breakfasts and snacks (using the 100 cal. snacks that you can buy at any grocery store).
Hope this helps.

Eating Jenny food alone is not what helps you lose weight. What helps is learning about portion control and dietary exchanges, what your body needs. To me, that is really what I'm paying for by buying expensive food. It's not the best taste-wise, but I'm learning and losing a lot through my consultations and keeping track of what I eat.

Most Jenny snacks/desserts are about 130 calories. As long as the recipe you are using falls about at that calorie level, you will still lose weight. Look for ways to keep the fat and sugar down in recipes. For example, substitute applesauce for oil, that kind of stuff helps.

I tried to do this also, but it didn't work for me; it's very hard to control portions, even the 100-calorie packs come in a box of 6 or more and I'll just keep opening more packs until I'm full!

and a lot of prepackaged food has way too much salt, which made me gain weight

Lynda, I'm confused. How is having a box full of 100 calorie snacks different than having a freezer full of JC snacks? We still have to maintain SOME self control. :)

Well, yes, the sodium in a lot of the supermarket food is higher which is why you need to check the nutrition panels and compare the store bought with the JC but TECHNICALLY you didn't gain "real" weight with the sodium. You gained water weight which is a little bit easier to lose than fat. ;)

So if you're going to do foods with higher sodium, you need to make sure you're taking in extra water to flush out your system and/or drink water with lemon juice and eat lots of asparagus which are both natural diuretics. At least that way what shows up on the scale won't be water weight and you can keep better track of the fat you've lost. :)

Regarding the difference between having a multi-pack of snacks in the house and having a freezer full of Jenny snacks...there's a big difference. At least for me anyway. When we order Jenny food, we order one snack per day. In my mind, if I were to eat more than 1 per day, I'd be short at the end of my week. With grocery store snacks, I can always buy more. It's a psychological thing for me. I just can't have extra snacks in the house at this point in my weight-loss.

I totally agree with you on this point. I can't either. I make my hubby hide his snacks from me. I honestly don't know where he keeps them and I don't care as long as I don't see them. I do see the wrappers that are empty on occasion, but those don't bother me. For Halloween, he goes and buys the candy he likes and that I don't like. The leftovers get hidden with his other stash.

Excellent point! Sorry for not seeing it your way which makes perfect sense.

I stand corrected and with my head down in penance. :(

Phyllis you were VERY right in that we all SHOULD have the willpower to have lots of snacks in the house. I wish that were the case for me...hopefully someday! In the meantime I celebrate the little victories like sticking to this program completely for 3 weeks...I can't remember the last time I have been this faithful to a diet plan. Hopefully I can make it until I reach my goal...I feel confident that I can. :)

Have a great weekend!

Don't feel bad. My SKINNY husband has a sweet tooth and has become a snack hound over the years. And we have a rule (well, actually *I* have the "rule" - LOL) that there will be no snacks coming into the house unless they JC (for me) or something that I HATE (for him). So far, that helps. :)

Welcome, Miss Kitty's Mom! We're glad you're here and congrats on your loss thus far. Keep it up! You're doing great!

And please come to the forums more often. It's an unbelievably helpful resource and also a great "distraction." :)

A HUGE kudos to you for quitting smoking....I did too 10 yrs ago. It feels so good to breathe in fresh air instead of killer toxins and actually smell your own perfume again. lol. I never realized how utterly disgusting ppl who smoke smell until YOU quit the nasty habit!

Congrats on the weight loss....keep it up girl!
