Hi!
I am ready to join, i think...but I have concerns about family dinners. Has anyone come up with a way to cook for the family (not eat what you cook) and all sit down to dinner together???

I'll admit this is a hard one for me, as I'm a single mom to twin boys, so cooking for just two and then having my own meal is a bit of a pain. But trust me...the end result is worth it! I just make sure that I plan all my meals in advance as to what I'm going to make them, so I'm not tempted to throw something together that I really know I'll eat (and disregard my own meal). I've also been making things that will freeze - so half can go in the freezer and save me time at a later date. I still make sure we all sit down together and eat on plates - no plastic tray at the dinner table for me! :) Hope this helps, even if just a little bit!

Kristin gave some great tips. I think that planning ahead, such as making meals for the family and freezing the meals, is really good advice. Depending on the ages of the children, they could even pitch in and 'help' Mom.
Depending on what the children are being served, there is enough variety in Jenny foods, that the meals could actually be 'matched up'. Jenny Meatloaf when the children are being served homemade meatloaf, Jenny Spaghetti, for their Spaghetti, etc.. Just an idea and hoping that everything works out well.

My friend gave me this idea. She makes her family meal the same as her JC meal. Meaning if her JC meal is spaghetti & meatballs, the family gets spaghetti & meatballs. She also puts her meal on a plate, doesn't eat out of the tray. You still have to cook like always, just not for yourself. Your JC meal is only a few minutes in the microwave.

I've been cooking 2 meals for the last 3 or 4 years and will probably continue to do so well into the future. I now prefer to eat much more healthier than my family and have incorporated a lot of new veggies & legumes into my diet than they would prefer, so even now when I am doing DOMOs - it's usually 2 separate meals.

Like anything else, you have to plan ahead and make time for doing this. Yes it can be a pain at times, but you are worth the extra time. You need to be willing to do what it takes in order to change your life. One thing I didn't do in the beginning is cook any foods that would have been a trigger for me - it they wanted anything deep fried, they could go out and eat it somewhere else. Now - it doesn't bother me anymore.

I match up with the things I am cooking for the fam too. And I munch on carrots, jicama, etc if I am teampted to eat while I am cooking. And I have a cup of tea then too. Then Im not so tempted. It gets easier as you get used to it.
