Just checking in.
Pattylynne hope you're alright after Tues earthquake. It did occur to me how many calories does an earthquake burn, not to mention aftershocks.
Marg hope you are alright too.
DH got his staples out but still can't lift anything which is concerning since Irene appears to be headed straight for our town. I should have a ton of activity in between Thurs - sat, possibly Sun am. I'll have to get the house ready and all the plants at the garden center. We haven't had a hurricane in 20 years and that one went south of us.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I need to get to bed, tomorrow is my monthly wi. I think I'm just over my goal weight. Phew!!! That;s pretty good after this past months craziness. Take care.

Nancy--sounds like things are looking up for you. You have your sense of humor back, so things must be looking up. If DH is txting what he wants you to do, he's feeling better too. Buckle up girl, it looks like it may be a bumpy ride for you. There is nothing more dangerous than a man who is at home recouping with a remote and a phone. Toward the end of the recovery, he could be driving you insane--he'll be well enough to think about the tasks, but not strong enough to execute them, and will want you to do it. (((HUGS))) You are in my prayers even more now...
Pattylynne--you said you were battling the inner 2yr-old. Give in to one indulgence...savor it, enjoy it, make a memory of it. Really take your time in the delight and allow it to yourself. You may feel satisfied enough to let the rest of the "wants" go and can really focus on the program. Kinda like taking a little food vacation and getting past the need. Also, make sure you are rewarding yourself for your wins--they don't all have to be scale related victories. Eg. Reward yourself for exercising for x days in a row. You may be feeling a bit deprived emotionally and this is the way your body is telling you to handle it. You are a good person and deserve good things!
Georganne--We have been having spectacular weather in the Upper Midwest where I live. Hope you have the same. Hope to hear from you more.
Angela--what have you been getting from your garden? I'm sending my baby off to college for the first time next week, so we can lean on each other while you send your baby to preschool for the first time.
Marg--so good to hear from you. I'm sure you will slip into the business suits in no time. With the good weather you say you are having, I'm sure you will get lots of walking in.
As for me, I have news...I lost 3 lbs at WI yesterday!!! I'm only 0.4 from breaking into one-derland!! When I lose 4 more, I will have lost 100 lbs. total. So many big goals so close together. It feels great to hit my all-time low with JC and break through this darn plateau. I WI in the evenings so I bet if I went during the day I may see the 190's. But I'll stay with evenings and really work hard. My walking buddy said all I need is "one big fart" and I should be there--guys...
Well, I hope everyone has a great day and a fabulous weekend planned ahead. Gotta get back to work.

Pattylynne and Marg, batten down the hatches ladies. Looks like we're in for a bumpier weekend. After this cue the locusts.
Angela, Hope all is well out west. I'd have 94,000 things planned while the girls are in school if I were you. What's on your list of things you want to do.
Ok time to get things put in the basement before the storms hit. Make that more storms hit.

Oh what a week and the finishing touch a hurricane by the name of Irene. Ugh so where are the toads and locusts. I'm still shaking my head over the earthquake. I had no damage to my property but one of the buildings on the University campus had some damage & is off line until Sunday.
Ok the workouts this week with the new trainer were interesting and I think this is going to be a good change for me. He is pushing me into developing a real vision of what I want to accomplish. I've been in a rather dreamy state but now he is helping me focus. This next week I will be without a trainer but I am not panicking. I have several routines I want to try out and I have enough experience with free weights to do this. Then when he comes back I hope to have my own act together.
Well I have to run now and complete my morning ritual. The freshmen are here and they are being oriented as I write. It's good to have the kids back at the University. So happy to see them again!! Take care everyone and batten down the hatches for the wrath of Irene

Power stayed on which meant the sump pump contined working and all we ended up with was a little water in a few spots in the basement.
Monday is a new week and time to start buckling down a bit.

I made it through the storm OK with no power outages!! Yeah...though it was rather tense yesterday but I did manage to get some things done at home. Today is absolutely glorious so after Church this morning I headed out for a drive in the country. Tomorrow is going to be nice too with classes beginning at the University. I must admit I did indulge in some donuts yesterday & today but I thought carefully about what I was doing. It felt kind of nice not to worry about what I was eating or how many calories I was burning. In addition to the donuts I ditched my Body Media Band and I don't think I am wearing it this week.
I wish you all a calm Sunday evening and a beautiful Monday.

I'm in the process of kicking Irene's keestha outta heahh, as we say around Baahhston. She's giving a few last big gusts all the sudden. Monday and the rest of the week should be gorgeous. Which is good because I have a ton to do outdoors, 1st put the garden center back together since we huddle everything in to safe area's. Getting the activity in and burning calories and steps should be no problem. We had the electic blink and had some good sized branches come down but nothing serious.
Now I just need to be a bit better on the food side. I did make some cookies for my DH and had a few,(more than I should have). While he was in the hospital he gain 8lbs like overnite from the sailene(sp). Okay this is aweful but a tiny part of me thought finally he knows what it is like to blink and gain weight. However with 0 appetite he is now down 24lbs from where he was just after the surgery 2 weeks ago. Life just isn't fair, the man is not even trying and doesn't have it to lose. So I have been cooking trying to get some weight on him and none on me. Yikes! I was 131.6 at my WI for the month, I was 130.2 the day before so I forget what I had the night before but I know it was salty.
Tomorrow is the DH birthday too, so he wants pizza. I'll have a Lean Cuisine pizza. Normally he would get a pizza with everything loaded on it but not sure he's ready for that. I did get lots of sticks/branches and leaves cleaned up this afternoon.
Pattylynne and Marg glad everything turned out well for you all with the storm.
Pattylynne sounds like your new trainer will be great. SOunds like a nice week to get out and walk.
Marg, looks like all went well in NYC too, and you should be able to get some nice walks in thisweek too.
Donna did your son leave for school yet. How nice another sewing room until Thanksgiving.
Angela, I picture you singing it's the happiest time of the year and then turning into a hallmark card commercial. Big hugs to you.
Georganne, thanks for talking me through Irene.
Okay I have to get to work super early tomorrow. Good night all.

Who would have thought that Nancy would be getting the hurricane that I was thought I was going to get earlier in the week? For those of you who don't know, I am in the Florida Panhandle. Glad I could help Nancy! Now our eyes are on a new system that is developing. Oh well, tis the season!
Hope your husband has a wonderful birthday.
Everyone have a great week.

Glad to hear all you East Coast girls are safe. I've never been through a hurricane, but have been through tornadoes. And with all my kite flying, I know what a powerful force wind (and other elements) can be. It's nothing to mess with. I'm so glad that the weather is now nice out there.
I take my son (my baby) to college on Thursday. I want him to go, there is lots of planning that I would like to see completed--and have my living room back (where we are staging his move). But I will probably will cry all the way home, though.
I went to a party put on at the dance studio where I have taken my belly dance lessons. They wanted to make sure I was invited, as they miss me. It was "Inappropriate Song" night. Those that wanted to could prepare, costume and perform a dance to a song that has naughty lyrics in a safe environment. My instructor danced to a song called "Show me your peacock"
I got my last payment for the windsock and it is no longer in my possession (YAY). My DH says we should pay bills the the $$, since we are struggling financially. He also said I should cut out my belly dancing classes again--even though I haven't been for the last two sessions. Needless to say, we had words about that! I plan on taking a fourth of the money I got and paying for belly dance classes for as long as the money holds out--I figure about 18-20 weeks. I worked hard for that money and deserve to play with some of it. I don't care how strapped we are. Besides, I've put up with 27 years of his alcoholism and smoking--both of which he's stopped (for now). My choice of spending on myself makes me a better, healthier person--I don't think he can say the same.
Sorry to have ended up venting like that. I'm really glad all of you are safe. Good luck with the start of school for those it involves. Will post again after my WI--Keep your fingers crossed ladies, I've been working hard.

I think you need the belly dance lessons too!! What a great way to work those abs. You earned that money through your own work and yes you deserve it.
As for your son's pending move, yes you will probably shed some tears because this is a new chapter in his life.
Take care!

For the love of God will this month never end. My crown just came off my tooth. Enough I say enough. Probably from clinching my teeth after I just got some much unwanted advice from my sister in law on what I should be doing when my husband is ill and who to contact. Perhaps it will take a few tons of bricks for her to realize that he said not to contact her or the rest of his family in regards to his surgery. Then he was informed by his father that he is not healing up to his father's expectations, his father has no medical background. Hmmm perhaps this is why I was told not to call. This after spending the day cleaning up from Irene, when staff decided to call in sick because cleaning up after a storm is hard work. Sorry about the rant.
But I will easily burn 2500 calories, walk more than 22000 steps and 4 hrs activity for the day. Plus I guess this is God's way to say "stop eating".
Donna, clearly don't worry about venting to me
Georganne, thanks for the info on what to do about Irene. Hopefully 10 will turn into a 0.
Pattylynne, How was the first day of school? The weather here was gorgeous today, I bet DC had great weather there too.
Thanks for being there ladies, now if a I can just get the crown clicked back on the right way for the evening. Take care all.

Ya know, I never really realized what AWESOME people I have in my life. I'm so glad I've come to these boards and have found such loving and supportive friends--like all of you! Thanks for your kind words--I just hope I can give back even a portion of the kindness I've received...
My walking buddy says "it's good to have emotions". Pretty profound for a guy. He deserves better than he's getting at home too, so I hope that my support in his efforts helps. He's been a broad shoulder to lean on from time to time with the troubles I've had with my DH. It's nice to have a man's perspective on life's situations without the added drama.
Nancy--sounds like your DH's family have control issues. Your DH recognizes it and you have been respecting his wishes. He's recovering nicely and that's what matters most--they can just deal with it. The nasty things they have said to you are their way of trying to assert some control over the situation, even though they have NONE. Their role is to be loving and supportive, not the decision makers. You are a saint in dealing with that they way you have--so go and get your crown fixed. Next time tell them off if you must. We will be here for you when/if you do!
Pattylynne--how's the new trainer working out? Good luck with school starting.
Georganne--stay safe, hope those systems don't develop.
Angela--How's it going? Haven't heard from you, so you must be busy preparing your girls for school.
Marg--Do you have much cleanup from Irene? How is your dog? I need to get back to working with my four-legged trainer now that it isn't so hot all the time. Have you been able to cook ahead, like I know you like to do?
Well I must get back to work. It's an "off" day--no appointments at my office today since the hearing specialist is at the other Madison location. My counterpart at the other office put in her notice last week and I was given the responsibility of scheduling the interviews for a new candidate and reviewing the resumes. I'll have to train whomever they hire, so I'm busy putting together materials (my current counterpart is leaving behind a mess). At least this is something I know I can do and do well.
Have a great day!
Donna

Nancy - hope you tooth is doing better.
Donna - definaetly sign up for some classes you earned them for all the hard work on the wind sock -- and I sure it will feel good to pay a few bills too with the rest. Did your son head off for college yet?
Doing well here did get a mile walk in tonight (longest walk in awhile).
Tuesday I will have to dust off my suits and hopefully having to wear something a bit snug will encourage me to drink my water and stay away from the vending machines.
Have a great rest of the week.
