i have been out of control since reaching halfway.... I thought i could have a few 100cal snacks and it wouldn't make a difference? Well, once i eat an off program snack, i am on a binge that i can't stop. I want to know if anyone has experienced this problem and if so how did you work through it to get back on track. Ihave 30more pds to go. I am thinking that i should give up sugar all together? Anyone tried this?

If I were you, I would go back to 100% program with the planned meals. Don't give yourself permission to eat anything not on that paper until you feel in control again.

I worry about this as well, since the last time I lost weight, I binged big time when I was off it. I am trying to keep that in mind this time and do the things I need to do in order to NOT repeat myself..... for example, DO NOT DEPRIVE MYSELF. I eat every snack, salty and sweet that I am allowed to have. I don't want to be feeling like I can only have this "good" stuff once I am at goal. That makes me start to obsess about food...... NO NO NO!!!!

I agree with Debbie.....I would get back on plan 100% and stay away from the 100 calorie snacks if they cause you to binge.

When I first started jc I was so afraid to eat ANY sweets.....I am a sweet fanatic, so I gradually started allowing myself a couple of jc snacks a week until I could gain full control of myself. To this day sweets are my downfall but I keep them in check....I have to, my health depends on it!

Dear Diamond, I have that same problem...I crave carbs especially at night and I end up binging even if I did not intend to...I am sorry I dont have a solution either and the reason I am writing you is so that you know you are not alone! I too was thinking I was the only one with this problem...And I am not sure if going back on the program 100 per cent is the solution cause I ask myself some day we have to eat on our own...cant stay on JC for the rest of our lives? There has to be a solution to this problem besides avoiding what is the real cause...just have not found it...good luck and stay in touch if you like! Maybe we can get on here during one of the binges and write down what we are feeling... maybe it will be a wake up call to what we are doing and help us stop! I dont know if there is adding people as friends on here for easy communication...if there is let me know...bye for now.jen

I fully understand your binging craving. As I stated above, I killed a previous weight loss by binging after I was at goal. That is why Jenny works for me! I only give myself permission to eat what is on that paper. There are sweets... salties.... spicy..... burgers... popcorn.... all the things I crave. I don't ever get to the obsessing stage because I have given myself permission to have the sweets... salties....spicy.... burgers.... popcorn and it is all a part of my plan. Sure there are days I think about a big ole spoonful of peanut butter (you can pick your own food love), but you have to change your self talk. I will talk myself out of it - (REALLY DEBBIE??? REALLLY??? Do you REALLY want that more than you want to be HEALTHY???? REALLY???). Then I go and get a big ole glass of water and add MIO to it or Crystal Light and fill myself up. It does help. If I still hear that self talk I honestly just go to bed since it is usually that I am so tired anyway that I have lowered resistance to that nasty talk. I CONSTANTLY remind myself why I am doing this and how much I want this MORE than that "whatever". Linda Spangler's book is a good one to help keep motivated. Her statement in there about how the 1st 2 bites of anything taste better than the remaining bites. Try it. Before you take that 3rd bite REALLY THINK about it. You have the power!!!

I agree with the other ladies.

Look, it's like any other addict. You have to stay away from certain things.

You wouldn't suggest to an alcoholic that "One drink won't hurt you," right? So if you are craving sweets and you know that there you're undoing, then stay away from that type of snack - JC or otherwise - if you're afraid that you're not going to be able to stop. It's not easy, I know, but getting a better control on our food intake isn't easy to begin with. You just happen to be more sensitive to sweet snacks.

Hang in there and do you best to get control of it. In time, like most "addicts," you will "need" it less and less. Remember, progress, not perfection. :)

Yes, that is true...for me its easier to stay away from my binging triggers..it seems i can not just taste it..i can get out of control and keep eating even after i am full and feel sick....I am still trying to figure out my 'head' and why i crave certain foods and why i let myself get out of control...thank you guys for responding to diamond cause it helps me too to read the comments and it gets me thinking and looking at things from another point of view..yes progress and change takes time..just hope i change before the end of my life hahahahah ty guys again. jen

Love this Deb! Self talk really does work for me too. If I get a hankering to snack in the evening (which is my worse time) I just tell myself "THE KITCHEN IS CLOSED FOR BIDNESS!" lol. I turn out the lights and step away slowly. ha :P :D

Yep. My time is nighttime as well. That is why going to sleep works. I've also discovered that binging occurs more often if I am bored. This happens on the weekends more than during the week since I am not busy with work. So when I start to get those urges to binge, I just get busy. I don't eat AND my house is a lot cleaner!!! 😜

Mine is night time too. When I first restarted, I went to bed early to force myself to stick with it. I don't have to do that anymore. I still sometimes use the "trick" of brushing and flossing my teeth after I've eaten all the food on my plan for the day.

I have the same problem. What I have found that helps me fill up at night, which is my most difficult time, is sugar free hot cocoa. I use my fat free milk allotment to mix with the Nestles sugar free cocoa. Otherwise, a strong mind set, drink lots of water, and go to bed!! Get far away from the kitchen. I do know how difficult it is and especially this time of year.

I have been on maintenance for almost 2 yrs, with a 5 week return to Jenny in Oct of this year. I also find that nite time is a weakness for me, so I always save my snack for tv time before going to bed, and have it with milk or coffee, while my hubby is pigging out on pretzel m&ms and the like. I have also had to tell him if he offers me another m&m I'll have to kill him. But if I eat all the food I should have in a day (esp fruits and vegs) and I don't get to the point of starving, I do ok. And the snack and milk satisfies me.
