At the end of September, I hope to have completed my first year at goal. I know that I am supposed to get 1/2 the program cost refunded back to me. Are there any other perks, discounts or incentives? I thought that I was supposed to get coupons occasionally after I hit my goal, but I did not get any. Also, how often do I need to go in and get weighed. I am sort of over the monthly or more visits.
Thanks!

I reached my goal weight on July 1, 2010. I wish I could say that the folks at JC celebrated with me, but I have been bounced around between counselors, so I guess they didn't see the significance of it. Enough of that! Anyway, after you reach maintenance, you must attain it for a year to get back half of your initial fee. Each month, you must visit Jenny, get weighed and buy something (a snack or something). I am not positive if you must spend a certain amount of money (I do not think so). After your first year on JC, you also need to renew your subscription for $50 or so. I paid that.

When I reached goal weight, I congratulated myself. I then set out to maintain my weight for the next year. On July 1, 2011 I did indeed meet my goal. Again, not a ton of enthusiasm from my myriad of counselors. They have finally submitted the paperwork to corporate and I am currently waiting to receive the refund.

Some advice: Keep your contract handy. Read it and reread it. Ask JC to print you a log of your weight loss. It is a great motivator! It will also help you later, if needed, when you meet with your center's staff. I do not believe that you have to stay a member to receive the refund, but I believe that the continued relationship is worth it. You can also go to your physician to get weighed.

Make sure that you reach or exceed your goal weight. You must be exactly at the number or below it, for the maintenance to count. When you visit and get weighted in a year later you must be within 5 pounds of your goal weight (up or down for a total of 10 pounds).

Good luck on your journey. You are doing an amazing job! Congratulations!

Bartistic, I'm sorry that you didn't get a whole lot of celebration for reaching and maintaining you're goal. If it makes you feel any better, here is some of the party you deserved. :)

Whoooooo-hoooooo!

Amara, to be honest, I totally forgot that I could have had half of my registration fee returned. Darn! But then again, I wasn't making monthly visits. However, I absolutely DO make sure that I keep up my renewal fees because you never know when you want to come back so I look at that bill as if it's my "insurance" policy. And, as it turned, out I did have to return this year but I'm heading back to goal and should be there soon so it was worth the investment.

BTW, congrats on your great achievement so far! :)

I tell you they are anxious to get your money but not willing to give it back to you. I reached maintenance 14 months ago and stayed within the five pounds either way since then... yeah me... anyway July this year was the one year anniversary - well where is my refund?

It came to my attention that they hadn't been putting my information into the system correctly and I was being entered as a regular visit and not a maintenance visit for the past year.

After they changed every visit I had they supposidly submitted my refund that was two months ago - nada nothing has come in the mail - called today to find out "we haven't recieved it"... five phone calls later the centre are resubmitting it - so guess I am waiting another month for it and hope that it comes.

I am not impressed with the Newmarket Centre at all - very disorganized, too many counsellors changing hands time to move on.
