QUOTE(Bobsmom @ Jul 21 2011, 04:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have had all I am suppose to today but have the munchies. What do you have?

I know my JCC told me to try not to snack... to volumize even my last snack of the day rather than keep in the habit of munchy eating. However, having said that (because I KNOW how easy it is to say, but hard to actually do!!!), here's something that's not too bad. I often have this snack while I have my after dinner snack (which I usually hold off for until later at night). It's written informal since it's how I copied it from somewhere on these forums:

cauliflower popcorn as a tv snack? Use fresh or frozen florets. In a large bowl drizzle a (teeny) bit of olive oil (less than a teaspoon) on them and a bit of Mrs. Dash. Stir them all up and put them on a cookie sheet in a 425 degree oven and roast them for about 45 minutes. Cauliflower has a natural sugar in it that caramelizes at a high temperature. It's WONDERFUL. Eat it like a bowl of popcorn.

Only difference I did was this:
- I use Pam Olive Oil spray
- I've only ever tried it with fresh florets (the smaller the better I think, so I cut up the larger ones)

Hope this helps.. they are pretty tasty! Hmmm, I think I might have another batch since my snack time is in about an hour! biggrin.gif

Excellent idea! I love raw baby carrots dipped in Kraft fat free peppercorn ranch dressing.

Something I'm addicted to right now are clementines. They're in season now and according to the MetabolicMax software only 35 calories a piece. It's something I can "dive right in to and attack" when I'm hungry, but the peeling keeps the hands busy and draws the eating out longer. Plus, sweeter and not as hard to peel as an orange!

"If" I get hungry I'll grab some fruit or make a small salad. I don't get the munchies too often because I use a routine that seems to keep things level. I eat breakfast around 8:00, grab a fruit mid morning, lunch about noon or so, grab a fruit if I need it in the afternoon, eat supper about 6:00, then I save my snack and one of my milk servings at 8:00. I think the milk really keeps me full through the night. If you haven't tried a specific routine, you may give it a try. I think our bodies get used to it and likes it, therefore keeping us satisfied. Best of luck.

I have a can of v-8 and drink a full bottle of water (cold) and then wait 20 minutes. If I still have the munchies, I eat raw veggies, carrots or cauliflower, but I have TMJ, so I always want soft things, so, if all else fails, I have gotten to the place where I can eat one small slice of colby cheese or have an additional low calorie snack like a pudding or just recently, I have 1/2 a serving of some type of baked crunchy (like gold fish or pop chips) -- but seriously, this happens only about once every other week for me and I will cave in, so I do it and get right back on track not making it a downward slide and eating 10 cupcakes or something, lol. That is how this has been a lifestyle change for me. I realize that I will have those cravings and I CAN control them for the first time in a VERY long time. I was sooo very scared for almost 2 months to give to this, but was assured that I was in the right frame of mind, and you know, it was true! I allowed myself to experiment with it and gave in and the world didn't crash and I have continued to lose weight! So, it really depends on where you are in your journey, what mindset you are in and how structured/scheduled you have to be. My back up if this is happening more than once in a while is a veggie soup I make up or sf jello and some ff whip topping! You really have to experiment and be MINDFUL and find what works! Good luck!

I've figured out here in the last 4 or 5 days that I do much better if I do not eat my breakfast first thing when I wake up to get ready for work before my commute. It's only 6:00 a.m. or so then and if I eat then it makes all my eating early and then by evening I am ravenous. I have been waiting till I get to work and have been eating at about 8:45 a.m. This makes me able to go without a midmorning snack, allowing me to put that in the middle of the afternoon when I'm usually hungrier. Then since I've gotten more midafternoon I'm not so ravenous trying to commute home my 45 miles for supper and I'm able to do my modular after supper or mid-evening and be okay.

I am going to try that roasted cauliflower "popcorn" idea, though sometime when I'm still hungry because I think that would be great!

I love Kale chips. My grocery store has pre-washed & cup kale. Spray a large baking sheet with pam, spead kale pieces out evenly. Spray with olive oil (I love those olive oild sprayers) and add any seasoning you like. I had chili pepper and garlic powder. Cook in overn @ 350 for 15 minutes. The come out light as air.

I even have my husband addicted to them.

That's the beauty of this whole thing. You can experiment with all kinds of (non-starchy) veggies. Some experiments work better than others but it's usually a tasty experiment one way or another. :)
