Hi guys. I am currently struggling with Weight Watchers and thinking of joining JC. My problem is not with WW, but the fact that I have to think about how I am going to use my points. I don't make good choices and just want something that I don't have to 'think about' as much. Not that I am expecting not to do any work, but the constant counting of points has me crazy.
I have about 160 lbs to lose and am overwhelmed. Thoughts from any of you 'losers'? Worried about the cost of it all, and about not being able to eat 'real food'. My husband travels for work right now so I think it would be easier for me now.

Thanks for listening!

Hello Angela--

Glad you posted here. I chose JC because I knew that I wouldn't be able to make the choices needed to make WW work. I like to compare the programs this way--WW is like group therapy, you draw your strength from those around you as long as you have the willpower to change your behavior. JC is like visiting the psychologist--it's one on one help and you go home with a prescribed menu and foods.

I like someone telling me what to eat for entrees and guiding me with the rest of my menu foods. I've lost 95 lbs. so far and have about 60 more to go. I've learned valuable skills about eating and foods along the way, but still am not able to go it alone. I will probably be eating this way for the rest of my life and I'm good with that.

I highly recommend the program--I know it can also be a bit pricey. But if you consider not only your grocery bill but all the times you would eat out, including coffee and fast or convenience foods you are actually less with JC. If your DH is out of town a lot, then the prepackaged convenience of JC is good--you can then focus on exercise and things you like to do instead of dishes. Staying out of the kitchen is a good thing for me.

I also recommend staying on these forum threads. I draw a lot of support from these people which keeps me going. I don't have much support from home. I feel wonderful knowing I have friends all over the country who can relate to what I'm going through and what I need. I've also been able to inspire others--how cool is that?!

I'll be your buddy if you need one. I look forward to hearing from you again soon

As a former WW member, JC is so much easier. The food is all ready prepared, all you need to add is fruit and salad and that's it. I can't exercise very well because I need a knee replacement, but I am still losing every week (just about). Sometimes I mess up and eat at a party or go out to eat and eat too much, but other than that, I have lost 19-1/2 lbs. since May 6, 2011. Give it a try, and see how you like the food; if you don't like something, get something else the next time. You can personalize your menu. Good luck!! I wish you all the success you need.

Go for it!! I have been very happy with the experience so far and my favorite part has to be that I no longer have to plan ahead, make sure I've gone shopping, cook when I'm exhausted, etc. I'm a very picky eater so I do the personalized menus and really the only big decisions I have are which boxes to take out of the freezer.

It is expensive, but there are ways to cut the costs. I do breakfasts on my own, don't buy soupetizers or salad dressings and my weekly bill is usually $90 to $100. These forums are a wonderful support network and there are a lot of other excellent weight loss blogs.

I do miss cooking, but I know that this is what I need to do for the time being and it has been huge for me to be able to be eating normal portions and not eating junk.

That is exactly the reason I joined JC as well. I am a lifetime WW member, but just couldn't stomach all the point figuring.

I am on week 7 now and I am loving it. I have the MM armband and find it to be very helpful. Mostly because I am a techie geek and love to follow all the charts and graphs. But it does help me to stay accountable for what I eat and what I am doing throughout the day. I will sometimes go for a walk around the office just to see how many steps it is - whatever it takes, right???

I've done WW before. Twice. It just doesn't work for me. I start but give up. I enjoy the ease of JC. Yes it looks like it costs more, but really I'm sure the currant way you are eating adds up. Trust me, I know. It's expensive to get to almost 300 pounds and maintain it! LOL That's a lot of eating out, processed foods, sweets, etc. You won't be buying those anymore (most of the time!). I buy my food at JC, buy my groceries, and I'm done for the week. It all evens out in the end.

Now, my budget is being stretched because I need all new clothes. That's a good problem to have though!

Good luck with your decision. We all need support, and there are lots of here to help you through.
