Hi Jenn,
There was another Sacramento forum that people were responding in but I saw this and read your post (check the General section to). Sorry to hear about your weight gain. That sucks big time. Were you off the program when that happened? Are you back on? What's going?

Hi Jenn,

I'm in my 5th week and have lost 9 lbs. What happened that you started gaining weight?

Don't give in to the tempation of "Oh, I give up already!". You DID lose 40 pounds and as we all know every pound is hard work! You can dwell on the few pounds back or you can say that was a "slip" and now we have to get back to it. Every time you put yourself down you are letting the "weight" win. I would bet you still are looking marvelous...remember why you started; those reasons haven't changed you just need to put them in the forefront of your mind.
Now, for most of us it is all about bad habits not feeling hungry, so we need to switch up some of our normal routines. It can be as simple as I get up and go downstairs and start the coffee--to get up and get your shower then get the coffee started. Think about your physical routine in the minute day to day and try switching it around. Obviously, we all need to shake our groove thing more and nibble less. But try to think beyond that to mentally shake yourself up. I keep a glass of water or club soda when I sit and watch a movie to keep my mouth occupied when I really want to munch. And I do get satisfaction in knowing I did it, at least for one movie. Try keep your goals in mind to motivate but realize it is just like the old song.."One day at a time, sweet Jesus..."
Try to also notice time of month changes, there is truth to brain chemical changes that want us to seek carbohydrates to boost our brain during this time. Also, regular chips and those frying oils cause the brain to turn on the eating receptors hense the Lay's "you can't eat just one" is brain chemically true. The Omega-3 oils can help turn these receptors off (no, eating fish oil caps won't stop you from eating but now you know why you can't eat nearly as many raw almonds as fries and chips)
Bottom line...you've done great. Shake off the negative and focus on what lies ahead.
