Hello everyone,

I am new to Jenny Craig and my first two weeks were very challenging. First of all, I traveled to another state to visit family for memorial weekend. So as you can imagine there were a number of picnics. I tried to do my best with portion control while still eating things I liked at picnics, I brought my JC traveling food for all the other days. Unfortunately Fate and Mother Nature threw me a huge curve ball in the form of a TORNADO. Yes, that's right a tornado hit my parents home in Massachusetts where there has never been any type of weather like that, ever. The tornado damaged their house and dropped trees everywhere, one tree crushed my car so I ended up being stranded out there a week longer than planned. For the first week post tornado, we didn't have any electricity, nor water, etc. Therefore we couldn't cook foods or anything. Disaster relief volunteers would come around bringing us things like Doughnuts, pizza, hot dogs, etc... Terrible things for my JC plan, but I did what I could and tried to be smart about portion control. I ate only one doughnut instead of 3 or 4, I ate 2 slices of pizza instead of 5. In the end, on a lot of days I was totaling 1600 and 1700 calories instead of 1500. One plus side was we were busy cutting trees and hauling brush from dawn to dusk and I think that helped. Today I went into the JC center for my first weigh in and I lost 8.6 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!! I am very excited and motivated to continue.

Pam

When stuff like that happens you have to worry about you first..diet second. I guess cutting down all those trees made up for the hot dogs and donuts. It is good that you didn't take advantage and chow down!! Congrats on the loss and back to the plan smile.gif

That is awesome Ryssa!
You were stuck in a terrible situation, but did what you could.
I live in MA and have seen the pics of the destruction - amazing.
I've never seen anything like that before.
I hope that your parents house isn't too damaged.
Kathy from MA

Start date 6/6/11

What you eat in private, you wear in public.

Thank you Reddy and Kathfitz! I think just being conscious of what I was putting in my mouth helped. My parents house took some damage to the roof and some broken windows, but all in all, they were very lucky. Other houses on are street were completely leveled.
