Hi everyone!
My name is Michelle and I am 39 years old. I am married and I have 4 children ages 11, 10, 9, and 6. I also have Lupus and Behcet's Disease. My Lupus primarily affects my central nervous system. Early on in my journey with Lupus, my digestive sytem was destroyed. This made it very difficult to eat. Literally, the only things that didn't hurt my stomach were high starchy foods. LOL On top of that, the medicine they use to control the lupus caused extreme weight gain... I once gained 15 pounds in 3 days. Then the doctors killed off my thyroid gland. Well, add this to my love of chocolate and taco bell... and you can see why I am here. biggrin.gif
I recently got a service dog to help me with balance and mobility issues, so I am able to walk a bit more, and even go up and down stairs!!
So, with increased mobility, I decided that although I will never be really healthy, I want to be as healthy as I CAN be. So, I decided to try Jenny Craig. So far, I am really enjoying it! The food is great, and my consultant is very friendly. My goal is to lose 60 pounds by May 3, 2012... My 40th Birthday!

Hi Michelle,

I am new to the forums but a vet at Jenny Craig. I just started over today. I also have Lupus, so I hear you on the meds issue. I am 28, in the California Bay Area. I have 1 daughter, she just turned 3. Now we are hoping to try for another, but with all the risks with Lupus plus being over weight, it's pretty scary.

I just wanted to wish you good luck on your journey!

All the best,

Sophia

Hi Ladies!
My name is Jayne! I'm 36, married with one son who just turned 16 and I also have Lupus since 1997! I live in the Chicagoland area and I'm so glad to have found others with lupus doing the program! I blame prednisone for all the weight I've gained and the fact that I'm unable to work so my activity is less to none. However, after seeing recent pics of myself at a fundraiser I held for Lupus, i decided I MUST TRY to lose weight despite being on prednisone still. SO, I just started my 3rd week of food. My 2nd weigh in was Friday and I've lost 9.1 lbs so far! I think thats pretty good smile.gif The food is pretty good and I seem to keep full, but I hate that I keep thinking about food constantly ya know?
