lost 30 lbs on jenny about 12 yrs. ago - since hitting 50th b'day last year, it's been creeping back on. afraid to join again though; not motivated at the moment. think i can re-join free since maintained loss over long term. does anyone know if this is the case? How much can i expect to spend on weekly meals? How hard is it to get back into the groove of losing?

Lingo,

I think your re-join depends on the type of plan you originally bought into. I bought what was called the the "lifetime" membership way back in the late 80's or early 90's so I was able to upgrade to the metabolic plan now for a small price. You should call them.......that's free. biggrin.gif

Food runs anywhere from $90 - $115 for me.

I just rejoined yesterday. I had lost about 40 lbs. when I was 50 (I am now 56) and to be honest, never really finished. I had been perimenopausal but then I hit menopause with a big bang---depression---and that was that. So after getting all that under control, I feel great in most areas but my weight...gained all my weight back and a few pounds for extra measure. I am not hiding and ashamed like I used to but I know this weight is not healthy at just under 5.5 and about 194 I think....I didn't look. I love my new consultant but as I have been on every diet under the sun in my 56 years....gained and lost football teams.....I know I can lose weight but have NEVER kept it off for any length of time.

After completing day one, I feel better already but it will be a long road though I am in no hurry. I have no timetable.

Depending on the program you bought, you may be able to rejoin by paying a smaller fee but you'd have to call JC and have them look up whatever plan you bought.

I started JC when I was in my late 50s, lost 45 lbs. and kept it off for three years. Gained 10 lbs. back due to my own stupidity, and ran back to JC at age 61. I'm now 62 and am, once again, close to goal.

I had a lifetime membership (which means I bought the plan and renewed it each year for somewhere around $60-$70 just as "insurance").

If you're motivated enough, don't use your age, past failures, menopause (I've been in pre-menopause and menopause for 15 years!) or anything else as an excuse.

If you are motivated, you can not only lose the weight but keep it off. How you get yourself motivated is going to be up to you. If you're tired enough of carrying around the weight or your health suffering (BTW my menopause symptoms eased when I lost the weight), then you can get yourself motivated.

As for the weekly costs, if you do strictly JC for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, it will run you about $120-$130 a week. Actually, depending on the program you signed up for (one where you got discounts the longer you stayed on the program), your costs could be considerably less.

You also can chop some of the costs by only have JC for two meals but follow the JC guidelines for the third meal and snacks.

Go back to your JC and talk to a counselor. He/She will be able to answer all of the questions with regards to how much it will cost you specifically based on the plan you originally choose and paid for.

Good luck and we hope you come back! :)
