I deluded myself into thinking I was in pretty good shape. I can walk and jog 3 miles, etc., etc. I picked up the 30 day shred thinking I would try the first level and quickly move on. . .

NOT!!!

That was the longest 20 minutes of my life (and the shortest work out I have done in a long time). I mapped out the 30 days, and I am definitely giving myself 10 days per level.

Assuming I survive the rest of the day, I will keep you guys posted about my progress. Phew!

Reporting back in. I survived Day 2 of Level 1. It is getting easier, but after 4 hours, I am stiff as a board! She is working muscles I never knew I had.

If you are looking for a way to jazz up your workout, Jillian's 30 day Shred will flat do it! I am planning on having surgery on my left hand next month, so I thought it might be good to get toned up as much as I could so I can get away with just cardio during recovery. I hope I am right.

I got this with my treadmill and it killed me the first day. I am a runner and can run 3 to 5 miles and this thing had me gasping for breath. I see how those guys are losing weight on the show! rolleyes.gif

I erroneously thought I would do the workout and then do a Leslie Sansone DVD for another couple of miles. I could barely walk to the DVD player to pop the disk out. The second day wasn't bad, so maybe by the time I am ready for Level 2 I can fit in another workout. I am STILL sore, and it is 3:00 in the afternoon and I did the workout at 8.

Sorry your first two post about the 30 day shred made me giggle. I totally understand what you're saying about that program... I do Zumba 3 days a week, and tried it for 5 minutes and gave up. So I'm curious are you okay you didn't post today...

Well - I made it through Day 4 of Level 1. I am still huffing and puffing, but I can feel my endurance improving. I won't kid you, I find myself thinking at about 20 minutes that I really could die! But, so far so good. She even says that when you gete to the 5th or 6th day you should find it easier. I hope she is right.

Another point I wanted to make about for those of us who are over 60 - I am working on my balance. There are two movements that I find difficult, so I have to really concentrate. One is the lunges. On one side, I do better than the other. The other is the final stretching she has you pull your foot up behind you to stretch your hammies. I can't do this without propping myself up on the entertainment center. My hope is that I will get to the point where I can balance on one foot. With aging, balance is very, very important.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will be having hand surgery sometime next month (I'll know in a week or so), and my plan is to get through the Shred so I can have the endurance to run during my recovery when I won't be able to use my hand weights for a while.

Barbara: you can do it. Just don't get too head up with it at first. Try and keep up, but if you can't, no biggie. Try again the next day. I was gasping for breath (and calling Jillian a number of interesting things - and it had nothing to do with our name we share (mine is just Jill)), but I was determined to get through it, and I did!

DOWNSIDE: I was UP 2 pounds at weigh in today. I know it is just water because I have been following my eating plan along with the exercise. I gave myself yesterday off, and today I just took about 1.5 mile walk with my greyhound in the park (excuse me - that is a 1.5 mile DRAG with my greyhound. Anyone who has a male dog knows of what I speak).

I have decided to stay with maintenance after all. Beginning with this weigh in, I am going every other week for weigh ins, and eating Jenny every other day. I'll let y'all know how that goes.

Hi Jill! I just ordered this DVD. If I was not nervous before I am now! lol, thanks for your posts, they are great. On weeks when I "UP" my activity my JCC recommended taking in an extra snack ( such as 8-10 almonds).
