I'm seeing all the posts for the "50's" and I thought I would start a "Fabulos 50's" thread.......where we can all "meet" once, even a few times a week......get to know each other here. I used to be on another diet board in a group called "40 somethings"......as we all got to be friends and got into our 50's, it was so amazing how we got to know each other and never met. We are now, 11 years later, planning a long weekend to meet in a central location. How awesome that will be!!

So come on.............let's get all you 50 somethings together........if the thread gets too long, we can start a new one.....

Let's get together and support each other on this weight loss journey. We need to be healthy for our families. For our husbands, our children and most of all now, for our grandchildren.

Come chat, introduce yourself, tell us about yourself.....I'll do that same, should this subject take off. biggrin.gif

Hi Scrapbook Queen & all the fab 50's, I'm Maureen and joined JC on 3/16. I'm an at home membr, for now. I'm about halfway now, and I just can't believe I've lost weight. I had been trying for some time but the scale would not budge, I figured age, metabolism, homones prevented it!! I'm so happy I joined, I feel so much better, more comfortable in my clothes, etc. For the first 4-6 weeks I followed the menu pretty consistantly, but lately I feel I'm getting "sloppy" and I don't want to do that. I've been ordering personalized and sometimes it gets confusing. I think I start 2 MOMO next week! Anyone doing that yet?? I've never worked with "exchanges" so that is all new to me too. Glad to be here (but maybe wish it was still the 40's group)! Hope we can keep the thread going - where are all the fab 50's?? come join us.
Maureen

Hi Maureen,

First, I too wish I was still in the Fabulous 40's but unfortunately, time doesn't stand still. LOL

You said something that I can can totally relate to..........after a little more than 4 months, I too feel somewhat "sloppy" in my eating, in my food tracking, in my diet as a whole. Each week I tell myself I need to get back to basics and I don't. I'm still ahead, thank goodness, but I I don't want to mess up too many times and then say what the heck.....I am past my halfway so yes, I am doing 2 MOMO. I think those are the times I get sloppy.

BUT - I am trying as hard as I can to stick to the narrow road. We are planning a cruise for October so I really, really, REALLY need to get myself on the straight and narrow now.

Glad you're here......hope we can get a few more 50-somethings in here.

Oh yes, the fabulous 50's! I have been on and off Jenny Craig for 15 years now and would always lose weight right off the bat. I rejoined 6 days ago when I reached my totally unacceptable weight of 181. The scale has barely budged this week. I'm not sure if it is actual menopause, or the hormone replacement I am on, or the hypothyroid which I was diagnosed with a year ago, but I can tell it is going to be a very slow weight loss. I am just happy that i have stopped gaining.
Good to meet you all. I have made many friends on another diet board and I am sure we all have alot in common

Hi,
I am just starting JC for the first time. My goal is to lose 50 lbs, 1st week got off to a pretty good start in spite of some bumps & barriers that happened during the week! My first weigh-in today, I'm down 6 lbs! I know future weeks will probably not be as high, that's a pretty good start. I am cautiously optimistic!

Hi Fab 50s....

I am in 3 weeks so far and doing alright. I lost 4 lbs first week, gained it back due mostly to not paying attention and am losing gradually now. Unfortunately, I apparently do not own an accurate scale...when I weigh myself at home I fluctuate up to 5 pounds within hours. How can that be? I am pretty sure I have lost a couple of pounds this week as I am following my meals closely and have actually gone walking a couple of times a couple miles each time. Progress. Really glad to be working toward my goal of losing weight and becoming more healthy. I have spent years now not doing much about my health. Good meeting everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I just turned 50 and am older than all of my friends. I had been gaining 2 lbs a week and couldn't figure out what was going on. I now know that it is hormones and menopause all rolled into one. It was like the perfect storm. I then decided to join Jenny because I couldn't stop it. I was swimming 3-4 miles a week and I still continued to gain. After 4 weeks I lost 10 lbs on Jenny and was very shocked this diet works so well. I started walking every day instead of swimming. So far so good. I am doing this at home and I feel very alone in it all. Any tips on other food selections or any other support you can give would be greatly appreciated. I hope the weight keeps coming off. I only have 2 weeks more worth of food. The past 6 weeks have cost me $1,000 dollars and I can't afford it anymore.

Hi Everyone,
I've been doing JC since September - and it's been coming off slow but sure. I hit plateaus and then suddenly I'll drop a few pounds. It's all in the right direction so I'm okay with it. I just turned 54 and I am down to a weight I haven't been in over 10 years and it feels great! I have about 20 - 25 more pounds I would like to lose - I'm not looking to be skinny-skinny, just a healthy weight so I feel and look good. Hope to get to know some of you better!

I'm a newbie so I'm not sure what MOMO means. I'm 52 and just starting my second week. Its really encouraging for me to read about other fiftysomethings being successful. My goal is 60 pounds away but I'm looking forward to having more energy and to getting rid of sleep apnea as I get closer to a healthy weight.

Hi! I just joined JC last Monday. I have had a pretty good week. I have eaten out twice but I think that I made very good choices. Guess I will find out on Monday!

I am looking forward to getting to know all you Fabulous 50's people!

I just turned 55 and have been on JC since April 28. I joined with my husband (we both needed to do something, since everything we had been doing wasn't working). I have lost 22 so far and am determined to get to 125 from 203. I have found it has been harder for me, adding activity has been challenging but i fight with myself to get to the gym and treadmill and the bike for at least 20 minutes. If i am really motivated i get on the rowing machine.
Anyway, i still am having problems with urges....especially popcorn and the cheddar popcorn isn't cutting it. anyone with suggestions would be helpful.
I am so glad I found a group that I fit into, Fabulous 50s

I can't wait to see what you do tomorrow. I also weigh in and know that there had better to be a drop. You have tremendous courage to eat out your first week. I was so neurotic for about 6 weeks to even think about eating out. Let me know how you do.

I didn't really want to eat out, but I had already scheduled one dinner and then my friends and I eat out every Friday. It was either, don't go, eat before hand and then watch them eat, or try to make a good choice, which I think I did. There are a couple of girls at my office that are doing JC, so I also have them as a sounding board which is really nice.

Here's to hoping you and I have a great weigh in! biggrin.gif

Let me introduce myself. I am 58 years old and work in Software Development. This means that for most of every day I sit and tippy tap on a computer keyboard. I joined JC the last day of May this year. I have over 100 pounds to lose.

I have been on every diet I know about. I have lost weight on all of them. Even did Optifast 4 years ago and dropped 95 pounds in 9 months. I cannot really blame Optifast, but I had such a huge binge once I was able to eat food again that it set me back on the road to gaining it all back + more. I don't want to do that again and so I am thinking that since JC gives you food and sweets and salties all the way through that I will not build up that craving like I did before. It was like all I could think about was what I would eat once I could eat food!!!! YIKES!! I kept telling myself I wouldn't do it..... but I did. And therefore here I am to lose it again.

So, I have a question for those that are at goal or close to it. What kinds to things do you do to prevent those binges?????

I want this to be the very last time I lose this same weight. I have the BodyMedia armband and it is a LOT of fun. I am pretty much an electronic geek, so it is right down my alley. I like being able to see what my calorie burn is everyday and how many steps I am getting in. Those steps are gradually increasing as I drop pounds the pain in my hips gets better which makes it easier to walk more......

Glad to be here!!

Debbie

Hi Debbie -
I'm about 20 lbs away from goal - but I noticed with JC I do not have the urge to binge like before - I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that JC works on 3 things - one being MIND - and you need to get the MIND portion along with Food & Body in order for it to work.
I'm not as well versed as some of the posters are on this board - but I had started reading lots of posts and got my mind into it as well as the rest of me.
I think the BM helps a lot to keep you focused - I got it in Feb and wore it through May - I'm taking a little break from it right now - as the novelty of it wears off. I'm hoping after the summer to use it more regularly.
Stick with the plan, read all you can on it. If you do it right - it really does work.

Good luck!

Thanks for that feedback! I think I am feeling the same with the binging right now. I am just trying to get my mind in another direction as I go through this phase so that when I get to maintenance this time I don't go nuts and start binging again.
