Learned my lesson...do not put pressure on yourself! Take it one day at a time.

My mom weighed in first and lost 5lbs. So when I got on the scale I was thinking to myself" if my mom lost 5lbs and didnt' work out then I would lose 6-8lbs because I worked out for 30mins 4 days last week".. so the final number was 193.2.(starting weight was 196) I was like...WHAT???
Then my counselor explained to me that because my mom didn't work out she lost 5lbs in water weight and because I DID work out I lost 2.8 of actual fat. Pretty cool huh?! Dont' get me wrong, I was super excited I lost the 2.8 I guess I was just expecting more. Now that my counselor explained it all to me it made sense and I now have a better undestanding of what my focus should be and how to get to my final goal.
I need to not focus on the actually pounds per week but the overall picture. I feel lighter from eating healthier and excersicing every day. And that is what truly matters. And I have SO much energy it is ridiculous. I mean I am getting things done that I would put off because I was too tired to do. It is truly a great feeling! My husband has also noticed a positive change in my mood. He likes it too!
So I will take it one day at a time, week by week. I can already feel like my clothes feel loose and that makes me happy!
I hope you all can share this journey with me and share your stories too!

That happens to me a lot.. I feel I lost more and then I end up disappointed when I get on the scale! That's where I really had to work on myself.. I had to celebrate all my progress for the week instead of focusing on the negative. There could be so many variables as to why you didn't lose as much as you thought. 2.8 is really actually GREAT. What's probably happening is that you want to see the numbers your mom is seeing but really even though she's your mom, you guys still have different bodies. I know you said you shouldn't look at the individual loss per week..and while I agree the big picture is what matters, there's nothing wrong with celebrating EVERY loss in some way (that doesn't include food <g>) Again.. 2.8 pounds is FANTASTIC.

Thanks Linwalker! You are totally right. I will celebrate each loss every week no matter what it is. I just meant I won't focus on the negative if I don't lose what I think I shoudl have lost. And 2.8 is GREAT! I think I will reward myself with a mani/pedi!
I can't wait for my next weigh in. I've been really active and feel great. I'm really happy to be doing JC again!!
We can do it!
