My name's Kelli, I am 23 years old and I live in NW Houston. Today is my first day on the JC program! So far I am liking it but find it's just so much food to eat! Is it really necessary to eat all of this food??? The price is a bit high too... is it possible to make your own food at home and get the same results?
I am 5'5" and 150 lbs, looking to lose 25 lbs and get back to 125. Since I graduated college (Missouri S&T) in May 2010 I moved to Houston and got a desk job. I've become a lot less active, and have increased my snacking habits due to boredom.
I am really bad at dieting as I have been fortunate for most of my life, always able to eat whatever I want and not gain weight, boy has that all changed! I'm a junk food junkie so this will definitely be a struggle for me. I don't eat much as far as portions are concerned usually, but what I eat is probably the worst for you. So any tips you all have would be greatly appreciated!
So my biggest weakness is going out to eat... I love it! Any tips on how to eat out at least once a week and still stick with the Program? What about alcohol? My JCC basically told me I can have one shot of alcohol and that would replace a meal if I chose to do so.
Glad to meet you all!

I have been with Jenny since 2004 and it has been a great plan. I am now on the maintenance plan and it can still be hard at times. It is good to know that you have a gal pal here in SA. I am new here so, making friends and having someone that understands is great.

Started the year off great and was down 14 pounds when my world fell apart with the end of my 20 year marriage. I've been on a willy-nilly-whatever kind of plan and am happy to only to have re-gained 7 pounds... so I'm down 7.
I'm currently in the Holiday season mode of maintenance is good; and a loss would be a bonus.. and have managed to have losses the past 3 consecutive weeks.
I'll be back on track by micro-managing with my Body Media fit armband and menu tracking... all for the hopes of being in being perhaps 40pounds lighter by mid-May for a 14-day cruisetour of Alaska with my family. It is a dream vacation that was put on hold for 21 years with my now ex... and well now that he's out of the picture, it's becoming a reality... so I want it to be as great as it can be.
Hugs & Blessings!!

Well if that's your half of a face, that's one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen but it must be something in the water in Texas because you gals are so beautiful.
Anyway, as far as the food is concerned, yes, you have to eat the Jenny Craig food - especially when you're starting. It's a food-based program.
Now that doesn't mean that you won't ever be able to eat out or sub out foods but you admit that you already have bad food habits so for the time being, you really should try to stick with as much JC food as you can.
Yes, you have to eat all that food. Yes, you have to eat something as written out on the plan every 2-3 hours. Yes, you have to drink a MINIMUM of 64 oz. of water a day (you can flavor it with Crystal Light or Mio if you want a sweeter alternative but stay away from the diet soda which will actually make you crave sweets even more).
As for alcohol, it's not your best choice. Most are very high in calories and/or sodium so you'll be retaining water like crazy.
Look, you have everything in the world going for you. You're young and that's a HUGE help when trying to lose weight. Get active. You're going out with friends,? Great! Go dancing. Join a gym. Take up a sport. The more active you are the more quickly you'll lose.
And if you know you're going out with friends to eat, you have a couple of choices. You can eat your JC meal before you go and have a salad with a FF dressing when you're out or you can get the JC Dining Out Guide (or go online and see if you can find the restaurant's menu) to pre-plan what you're going to have so that you're not tempted to order something that's not going to be the right choice.
And DO NOT let your friends talk you into things. This is YOUR journey so YOU get to decide what you do want and what you don't want FOR YOU!
You have been lucky that you didn't put on weight sooner but now you have to break all of those habits so that you develop an entirely new relationship with food FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. And you want to do that because believe me, hon, from experience, it is MUCH more difficult to take off the weight the older you get.
Come to the boards often. We'll all be here to lend you as much support as we can, answer questions, celebrate your losses with your and listen when things are going not the way you want them to.
You CAN do this BUT you are going to have to change the way you've been thinking about you and your relationship with food but you are so worth it!

I love hearing about all of your journeys with Jenny! Spring will be here soon...and that will mean some warmer Texas weather (although we have had quite a few beautiful days here in South Texas...in the 80's). That makes it nice to be outside...and active!! I am planning on a garden that I will plant in March during my spring break (I am a school counselor - so I still get a spring break)!! And a coast trip to Port Aransas in April...so lots of motivation to stay on track!!!!
Have a great evening everyone!!!

I am joining Jenny this weekend. Deciding what facility to go to and if Jenny Direct is made for me. Anyone have any suggestions on either one? My BFF has done Jenny and has been very successful so she is my inspiration and will help me along the way if I need it. For those of you that go to a facility, what do you like about it...and those of you that do the Jenny direct..what do you like about it? So ready to get on the Jenny program...80 degrees the weekend and now back to 60 degrees...so love the cold weather.....excuse not to wear shorts...50 pounds to go!!! LOL
Thanks!

I was in Austin this weekend at a wedding and the weather was great!!! I do the Jenny Direct and love that my meals are delivered to my house!! I like the convenience of that...I'm not located near a center...so that's my best option...I enjoy the food...
Welcome to the forum!
