Good news! I was down 1.8 this week! And I put the chocolate out of sight. Looking at it sitting there on the kitchen counter was too much. I only ate a little, I swear! Plus we gave one box of Indian sweets to a neighbor who is Indian and who appreciated it very much.

The new chicken tikka masala is quite nice. One thing I often miss on the JC plan is eating Indian food.

I hope everyone is doing well! Please check in!

Take care,
Angela

Angela - WTG on your weigh in -- good idea to give away some of the sweets -- they are good but very rich.

Janice - sorry to hear about your shoulder - glad you can still get your walks in and had another great weigh in

Nancy - you are so close - I am sure you will make goal next week. Glad you are having fun in your garden.

Donna - good to hear from you -- good luck with the kite project

Pattylynne - hope you have a nice restful weekend planned

Vicky and Jen - check in when you can

-------------------------------------------------------
As for me it is a cloudy cool day -- but not rain predicted until tonight -- so will get in a few walks and also need to do some house cleaning.

Scale is up 1.6 from last week -- will do my best to make good food choices today.

I do think the iron pills are helping (seem to have more color and energy) -- will go back to the hemotologist on Tuesday and see what she says. Then have another Dr's appointment for a thyroid needle biopsy -- it had been 2 years since my last check up -- so that has meant many appointments that needed to be scheduled after my physical in April.

Have one more week of regular hours at work then we switch to summer hours -- which means we start 45 minutes earlier -- but leave 4 hours early on Friday's --we are done at 12:15!

Well DH is ready for breakfast -- guess I had better start the day.

Good Evening!

Marg, glad you are feeling better. Yay for the summer hours. Now if we could just have alittle bit warmer weather. Okay a needle biopsy doesn't sound fun. Hope it goes well? Can you tell I'm needle phobic? It would be nice if the weather improved so that walks were more fun.

Angela, Congrats on your loss and managing the goodies. I bet you are so happy to have your DH home, especially when he comes bearing gifts. Sorry the tea business is having a tough time. I'm sure things like gas prices aren't helping.

Well all I can say is that it is just wrong when it is so *(&^%$ cold that you still need to wear long underwear to work outside in mid May. Yep I wore some today, froze yesterday, it's so cold and raw here. I'm hoping some day the idea of ocean breezes will seem like a good idea again. We are suppose to have cold and rain for the next 10 days. It's wreaking havoc with my plants and being a manager, means you stay and work in the cold and rain, is not much fun. Plus it destroys business. Not to mention not as much activity, steps, calories for me. I'm also fighting a cold and sinus infection. Is it June yet? Okay enough whinning, I'll put on my big girl raingear bibs and jacket and get on with it. can't wait for my next days off to warm up. Okay I'm going to take some medicine and go to bed. Night all.

There's nothing quite like clothes shopping to encourage a gal to stick with her healthy eating plan. I tried on some really cute capri's. They fit well and were comfortable, but I got a big time muffin top thing going on that was totally spoiling the look sad.gif I didn't buy it. I found a dress that was great, if only I was about 3-4 inches taller! The darn thing was almost pooling on the floor. I hate being so short. And I hate clothes shopping. I almost thought of buying the dress and shortening it, but I would have needed to buy a strapless bra as well. Not worth it.

If I could just get down one size smaller I'd be able to buy from the petite section. I haven't been able to do that since I was a teen!

Nancy - Sorry about the crummy weather. We've had a couple nice days the last few weeks, but its been raining here since yesterday.

Marg - No kidding, those sweets are nothing but ghee, sugar, & maybe a few nuts! A little goes a LONG way! BTW, I HATE iron pills... they always seem to stop up the digestive system for me.

Take care,
Angela

Hello,
Sorry I have not been posting or for that matter, not even checking in tell now!
What a crazy month it has been.
Weight is still the same-not going up or down just hovering at 176. So eating has not been the greatest but I did talk to my JCC about feeling like a failure as well as wasting her time. We talked about just being there for each other and hanging in there.

Working out has been okay. Not outstanding but still going.

We are in to the new place! My of my I should write a book on this one!! From the guy that washed our machines and not sealing off the electric so it didn’t get wet, to the internet company having our internet down at work for over a week, to the phone company messing up our information and having our voice mail linked to our fax number, it has been an experience!! But besides all of that, this is a bigger place, guys are keeping it clean and brand new offices-there is some good points!

Troy my husband is having surgery Thursday on his shoulder, he has a torn labrum. Hurt it last fall and you know how men are….oh it will get better….well it never did! So with an MRI and physical therapy we are set!!

My niece is doing well. She is talking about moving back home this summer but is still not sure. She hasn’t mentioned anything to her dad. She doesn’t want him to get his hopes up. I spoke to her about my concerned and asked how it was going to be different. I have encouraged her to find a voice in all this and tell it like it is and what she expects when and if she goes home. Hope I was helpful!

I did read through posts this morning and sounds like everyone is having ups and downs not just in weight loss.

Looking so forward to summer! Hope all is well with everyone!!

smile.gif Hi everyone...sorry about the silence but I have been in a real crappy mood the past two weeks or so. I have no idea why except maybe the pressure from work.

Quick update on me...have not been working with the trainer and its due primarily to my own stupidity. When I was recovering from the vertigo I froze my trainer workouts and had about 10 sessions in the "bank" to use. Then I though the account would unfreeze after 30 days but apparently I had to tell them to take off the freeze. Anyway ran out of sessions but I am set up tonight to go once more back to the trainer. I discovered during my hiatus that I really need those paid appointments with the trainer to work out. Ok lesson learned and now its back to work tonight.

As for my eating again up and down and I'm scheduled to see the JC consultant tomorrow evening. I think I will go back to the preplanned menus and do the JC program by the book instead of the Fairy Tale of Patty Lynne. I just get whacky during year end and having structured meals is a real bonus.

smile.gif Jeseth good to hear from you again and my condolences on the office setup. Does not sound like you had a fun time. Don't stress on the weight right now because it sounds like you have alot of balls in the air. Focus on what is important now and when things settle down go back and tackle the weight. Don't ever feel like you are wasting your JC Consultant's time. You are just important as a newbie because you are doing the difficult task now. Once the honeymoon wears off you are doing real soul work by being in the trenches. Talk to her and stay in touch because she is outside of your world and she can give you that thumbs up that you need right now. As for you niece keep listening and keep inviting her to stay with you.

smile.gif Angela congratulations on the continuing weigh loss and way to go on passing on the goodies. Sorry about the tea business sad.gif maybe its the economy. Are there any parenting groups that you could join to get some social contacts?? As for the clothes, yes they can be a good incentive to keep the weight off. I'm feeling so much better in my clothes by staying out of the 130s.

smile.gif Hi Nancy, I hear you about the weather. We are actually having a spring in the Metro DC area but at the moment we are under such a heavy rain pattern. The plus side is that everything is green and the robins are so fat!! The negative side is that it is so dreary and I'm seeing mushrooms. I'm planning on swing by a garden center in June to get plants for my balcony. I've learned that the plants from the garden center are hardier than what I get at Lowes, Kmart or Walmart. You definitely get what you pay for.

smile.gif Hi Kite Lady!! I hope that the wind sock construction is going well. How big is your sewing machine? Industrial strength?? It never occurred to me that a person actually sewed it together. What an awesome project and hope that it flies well

smile.gif Hi Marge! Yes maintenance can be a very lonely place as we strive to keep the weigh constant. It truely is working in the trenches. I feel for you. As for the biopsy I will say a prayer for you. Ugh needles I hate them and I can't bear to watch. When I give blood I look away because needles give me the heeby jeebies.

smile.gif Hi Janicel I hope that you own weight loss journey is going well

To anyone else I may have forgotten I hope that you are doing well and are continuing on your own weight loss journey!!

I almost forgot but I got the results from my first mammogram ... they saw nothing unusual YEAH!! Ok now that I've done in once I will do it again. As well as going back to my Ob/gyn on a yearly basis for the other dreaded exam. Knowledge is power and I mean to stay in the know where my health is concerned.

Take care everyone and have a glorious Tuesday!! Remember to move that body!!
With patience and perseverance I choose to pursue my goals.

Morning Ladies I just have one thing to say today.

GOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

WOOOHOOOO!!!!! Happy dance! I'm here right in the button. Down .6 to my goal of 130lb 89lbs goane forever. I have been sick with a sinus infection and not getting in enough activity so I was a bit concerned that I would just hover above the goal. I did a little bit of Leslie Sansone yesterday for 20 minutes. I'm trying to decide about the next 5 -10lbs. I think I'll continue and see what my body says. I'll have to get my DH to take my picture. Apparently my JC site doesn't take befores or afters, heck they don't even have toilet paper, paper towels or tissues. Seriously I can't beleive we pay so much and they can't even provide that.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Nancy - Doing the HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY dance for ya!

Vickie - I hope the surgery goes well today! I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you and your hubby. Sounds like your move was a typical one, there will always be SOMETHING that goes wrong!

Pattylynne - I am the queen of the Fairy Tale! Definately do the planned menu, it'll make a world of difference. YAY for a good mammogram cool.gif

Well, things have gotten "interesting" here. Our TV has turned into a radio. Now, I honestly dont watch TV a great deal, but it was nice to have. Mira watches a few educational programs, plus I was using the TV to play my exersize DVD's. Luckily we've had some nice weather the last few days so Mira can play outside, but the nice weather never lasts very long here even in the summer (and particularly in June during Rose Festival). We dont have money right now to buy a new TV, and we dont feel there is sufficiant reason to have it fixed since we never really cared much for this TV anyway since its the kind that heats up a lot and we have 75% of the windows in our house on the south side. So anyway, Mira has taken to being my "shadow" lately and I cant do ANYTHING at all without her being right there. Constantly. All day long. I cant even sit down with hubby to chat in the evenings without her being right there in the middle and constantly interrupting. Its driving me insane. I love her, but I do need the occasional break!

Thankfully I have a girlfriends weekend! Tomorrow I drive down to Ashland with my mom and my BFF to the Shakespeare festival. It should be a blast, we do this almost every year. But what about afterwards?

I need a REAL vacation! We haven't had a real vacation since before Mira was born... unless you count the trip to India when Mira was 8 months old (and I dont). I want a vacation where I am pampered! Hubby is talking about camping this summer since we are short on funds, but that is the exact opposite of being pampered IMHO. I want a vacation where I dont have to cook or clean. Where there is fun activities. Where its not a major catastrophy if you forgot to pack matches or bug repellant.

Oh, OK, I guess I nearly forgot that hubby and I had a long weekend in San Fransisco almost 2 years ago without the kids. It was heavenly! Except that I had been promised a week in Hawaii, and we couldn't afford that.

BTW, I finally have another tea party booked! Its in early June. YAY!

Take care,
Angela

WOW Donna, it's going to be fantastic! I can't help but think looking at the end of a rainbow is a very talented skinny artist. So much better and more priceless than a pot of gold. When will it be finished?

Angela, you could put your workout dvds in your computer and do your workout in front of the computer. Have a great time on your weekend with the girls. I remember you had so much fun last year. I know what you mean about taking a vacation, it's been years since I've been on one. Yay for the tea party business improving.

Vickie, I hope all went well with your DH. Moving a business is alot of hard work, but it must be nice to be in a better location. Sounds like your neice has a good head on her shoulders, just like her auntie.

Patty, glad the mammogram went well. I know what you mean about needing the structure. I stayed on the JC personalized plan for the most part because work is so busy and exhausting that it just seemed like the worst time to start maintenance. Especially with a cooler of ice cream bars right in front of me at the store.

Janice congrats on your really great loss this week.

Marg, I'll be channeling you after things settle down after Memorial day to get these DOMO going. Hopefully you'll get some decent weather to enjoy your long weekends. Wow, I just realized this means you have been there for over a year now.

Hi to anyone I missed. Take care and have a great weekend.

What a week. It is always stressful when we have to be gone from the shop so Wednesday was a bit crazy to say the least. But hubby made it through surgery and is doing well. They did not repair the labrum but removed it instead. I should have asked why but the doctor was in there for only a short time, I couldn’t think of anything more to ask him and really should have asked him why they decided to remove instead of repair. Oh well, he has a follow up appointment Monday he will have to ask then. The good thing is the recovery is shorter, sling for only 2 weeks instead of the 4-6 week that we had anticipated. So he is at home recovering today and should be back to work, maybe Monday or Tuesday.

My niece and I had a talk last night. Her mom and dad both want her to come back and live with either of them. So she got phone calls from both of them last night. Her mom is looking at a house and want her to go with and look at it and wants her to move in with. She DOES NOT want to go and live with my sister(her mother) due to the fact that she is acting like a teenage at the moment. That part in itself is sad enough but on top of that my niece and her mom were VERY close before all of this. My niece would have consider her mom her best friend! Now, not so much. Like I said before she is considering moving back in with her dad but is still not sure about that. He is not in a good place either!! What a mess. My husband and I have spoken to her about being honest and being upfront with both of them. Which she has tried. So our next step might be that my DH and I go talk to the parents and “tell it like it is”. But she is not sure if she wants us to step in yet or not. So we are all in the thinking stage of the next step! I sometimes feel like I need to call Dr. Laura or Dr. Phil and get some advice in all this! Lol!!

Eating hasn’t been too bad. I am keeping up with my workout except for Wednesday. I missed my cardio class due to the fact of working too late! Yuck. Last night I was so tired my husband, who had just had surgery, had to talk me into going and working out!!

It should be a nice quite weekend. Hoping so anyway!

Yard work today, need to get to finishing up with those weeds!!
Saturday I have to finish up the work I started in the storage room a couple of weeks ago then Sunday cleaning the house!

Ang-I hear ya about a vacation. I don’t have a little one to care for but we go on one every year. But last year we just weren’t able to, nor did we take anytime off. So I am really feel like I need one. We are going to Florida and Cancun in the fall this year!! Have fun on your gf weekend! Hope your radio oh I mean tv gets fixed soon.

Nancy-I am soooo happy for you!! I am doing a little “met my goal” dance for ya!! I must admit I AM SO JEALOUS!! wink.gif

Donna-loved the video. Have fun!! biggrin.gif

Patti-thanks, I know I will stick with JC but sometimes I feel like I am wasting money. Which in reality I am not. I only spend about $40 a week. I got the 30% off and I would have to buy food for me to eat anyway. So it is worth it to me. I just feel bad sometime. My JCC is great and we are working through it. Like she said, you have done this before and we will work through it again! Happy your results came back good!!!

I better get going! Hope everone has a great and wonderful weekend!

Just wanted to say a quick hello.

I've been reading here and I'm glad you are all hanging in there and doing well, moving forward and even hitting GOAL! WOO HOO.

Things have been insane here. My eating is way off and I should be 'glad' that its stable at 163 for the past 2 weeks or so. I am seriously wondering if I just have to 'live' with it. I just can't seem to loose and keep it in to 150s. Things at hubby's work are insane and I do worry often about him calling and saying he's been let go. We had a "medical emergency" with Vicky (not something life threatening or that will hurt her in the end, but bad enough) that I had to be off work for 2 days and we're still in the treatment phase for her and me -- its been crazy, crazy dealing over the last 2 weeks. 'Nough said.

Next week is the last week of school for my kids and I'm looking forward to that so we don't have to worry about fitting in homework with afterschool sports and activities.

One interesting thing my son said to me yesterday --- his game was cancelled (rain/wet fields) and he wanted to play at his best friend's house. I said fine and then I said --- I know you like spending time over there more than here and that its more fun and you are able to relax and play more....and he actually said "No, not really. Sometimes rules are good and I like the routine at home..." I said "Wow Brian, never thought I'd hear that." And then he said "I need to hear no sometimes." And then I joked "And, yeah, I'm good at that" and He laughs and says 'well yeah but its ok.'

Well, I better run. Keep moving forward everyone.
Jen

Jenn - glad to hear that things are getting back to normal for you after your "medical emergency", and maintaining during a stressful time like that is an accopmplishment in and of itself. Hope you find things a bit easier once the kids are done with school.

Nancy -- Woo Hoo! GOAL!!!! CONGRATULATIONS smile.gif Will be interested whether or not you decide to go for a few more pounds -- just realize that too low of a goal weight can sometimes be difficult to maintain in the long run.

Angela - Hope you have a great weekend away. Glad you remembered your long weekend getaway in San Fran and enjoy planning a vacation -- maybe you can comprise maybe have a short camping trip and then conclude it with a nice weekend somewhere. As for Mira -- do you have a neighbor or friend that you 's can swap babysitting or playdates with to allow for a bit of me time? Sorry to hear about the TV.

Donna - glad things are going well with your kite project and hope all is well.

Vickie - glad your DH's surgery went well and I am sure you will be back on a losing streak soon. Sorry to hear about your niece and hope she can work it out and let her needs be known.

Pattylynne - hope you are feeling better -- but I know the rainy rainy weather is not helping.

Janice - Did you have your tests for your shoulder yet -- always feels better once you know the situation. Great that it is not effecting your walking plans.

As for me, time to get back on track with my eating -- let things go a bit with all these Dr appointments. Between a routine gynocologist exam, Annual Physical, a visit to the Periodontist -- Thyroid Ultrasound, 2 visits to the hemeatologist, and an echocardiogram and the needle biopsy -- that was 8 Doctor's visits in about 6 weeks!

The good news is my red blood count is improving (I will go back in a month for a follow up), the needle biopsy was done without too much pain and the results were Benign, the echocardiogram was fine. So know just to rule out any internal bleeding as a cause for my low iron -- I have a colonoscopy scheduled in a few weeks.

We have a wedding to go to in 6 weeks on Sunday, July 3rd for one of my husband's co-workers so that is a good reason to get back into some good eating and exercising habits.

The other good news is that we just signed up for FIOS internet in the city -- so I will be able to use my own laptop and not have to share the internet connection -- which should make it easier to check in with you all.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hey Everyone! Sorry I've been MIA again. Ive been spending less time on the computer without the TV working because Mira "needs" me more. I'm typing this all one handed because she insists on sitting on my lap.

Ashland was fantastic! We saw Measure for Measure and August in Osage County. We always see one Shakespeare play and one that isn't. Measure for Measure was done with a sort of 70's style, which was kinda cute, and even though the play supposedly takes place somewhere in Italy they included a LOT of Mexican stuff... including 3 gals playing guitar and singing in Spanish.

I FINALLY found a place really close by that has Zumba! I went to the first class last night, and I had a BLAST!!! Its so good to be moving this old body of mine. I will definately be making a habit out of that.

And speaking of old body, tomorrow is my 10th annual 29th birthday. *sigh* Yeah, I know you all probably think 39 isn't all that bad, but I really haven't been taking as good a care of myself lately as I know I should be and I am feeling much older than that. We haven't planned on really doing much tomorrow. Maybe take the kids to a movie or something. Next year we'll have to do something GRAND!!!

Well, everyone take care!

Pattylynne - hope you have a nice restful weekend.

Angela -- first Happy B-day! I'm 43 almost 43 and 1/2 so I can tell you being in your 40's is not bad at all.
That is great you find a place to do Zumba -- hope you can make it a regular habit.

As for me SUMMER has ARRIVED -- it is in the mid 80's today -- will have to get my walk in early tomorrow while it is still on the cooler side. TOM is almost done and the scale is down from last week. Will put my weight into the e-tools and see how I am doing tomorrow (always do a morning weight).

Nancy hope the weather stays nice and you are busy at the garden center -- might actually get some begonias for the backyard.

Happy Long Weekend all.

WOOF!!!

Angela, have a great weekend celebrating your birthday. I remember 39, I'll be having my 16th 39th birthday this year. Glad you found a zumba class that's easy to get to regularly.

Marg, I thought of you getting off early today and having a nice long weekend. All those doctor appts you must be feeling like a pincushion. Hope all turns out well. I love begonias, so easy they like to go dry.

Donna, is this the big weekend for the giant windsock? I bet your friends will be so impressed by how skinny you are this year. Get lots of steps in. Can't wait to see the video of the windsock.

Vickie, glad you hubby is doing well, he sounds like a really good guy. You must be so proud of your neice and what a good head she has on her shoulders. Glad your move is finally over. Enjoy the weekend hope it's relaxing for you, you certainly deserve it.

Jen, glad all is okay at your house. Hope everyone can enjoy the weekend.

Well, you can tell by the WOOF, it has been a long day. I'm at 28000+ steps and almost 2900 calories. We finally got some nice weather but we're ready to fall over. It's tough to have such a big change, 50"s one day 80's the next. My weight went up .4 this week which I can't explain except for some salt since the morning before it was down over an lb and I had some crackers. If today is any indication we will be really busy this weekend. My new garden center doesn't allow us to wear shorts, craziness. So I am ready to fall over and it's only in the low 80"s. I hate to think of what it's like in July. Well I need to get the laundry done and take a shower. Back at work by 6:45am till 6:45 pm. WOOF! I work through Tues. Have a good weekend, remember gardening is good exercise.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone! You gals are so sweet biggrin.gif
I had a nice day despite the deluge of rain. Hubby bought me an iPad for my birthday! It's going to be great for my tea biz. I have a class this evening to help figure out how to use the thing, but even fiddling around on my own I find I am liking it very much.

Eating has been BAD BAD BAD, but with my new enthusiasm over the zumba class I think I can get past that and hopefully get back into loosing mode.

Take care,
Angela

Thought I’d check in the final day of the month. First, a mia culpa to all as I never get to be able to address each of you personally …I am thinking of you and following along!

Status quo at my house --- nothing exciting this past weekend or week. My weight is either up a pound or same, depending on the day. Still getting workouts in, but I have no defined eating plan (hmmm, wonder what the problem is? I’m being sarcastic here). My BM still says I should be on a weight loss trend, but that isn’t happening, even when I have daily deficits of 500-800 (which I do). I am thinking I might take it off and see how I feel. I was doing a contest with the fitness center to see which federal building could get the most steps in for the Month of May…so, I really tried to get lots of steps and had to wear the BM for at least 4 days per week – I wore it all the time so that they took the highest number days for me…I think our building is going to win, which is cool. What do we win? Nothing, but hey, it was fun to try to get my steps up.

This next month is going to be CRAZY with stuff, esp early on, but I just have to ‘suck it up’ and deal. In the first 3 weeks of june, we have 5 baseball games, 3 baseball practices, at least 3 soccer kick arounds, closing on our house (we refinaced for a really great rate), the parish picninc, dance recital rehersal and then the recital itself…then Brian’s bday with a sleepover with 10-11 year old boys. I’m tired just thinking about it – and that doesn’t count work….and, of course, school is out. So, they are at Y camps all the time now (adds 30 minutes each comute time) --- no school makes some things easier --- no rush to get homework done, but also just seems like there is a never ending stream of ‘things’ to do over the summer months…I really need to win powerball for 200 million and be able to stay home and not work…hey, even 100 million will let me stay home all and not have to work!

Better get going. Lunch time nearly over and I need to try to get a short 10-minute walk in or I’ll go crazy this afternoon staring at the computer.
