At least this is my second week with the program, I know I can do it, my first week I lost 4 pounds. Even my JCC said to just try your best and if you gain you gain. You know you can do it and you will lose it back. But that's not enough for me, I want to KEEP losing! Seriously I have yet to find anything healthy to eat besides apples and I'm NOT going to eat apples breakfast lunch and dinner! Talk about keeping the doctor away, it will keep EVERYONE away. Hahaha.
Anyone travel for work? What do you do to stay OUT of the dreaded gain section?

Hi Whitelotus...
Your dilemma is exactly why I just joined JC TODAY! I travel almost every week for work and practically live in hotels...I do get to choose my hotels and I will just make sure going forward that I have a microwave either in the room or nearby.
I havent even received the food yet (I was comparing NutriSystem and JC and decided on JC because it sounds like the support network is stronger). The counselor I spoke with assures me that there are several "shelf-stable" options, such as a tuna or chicken salad "kit" that you can take along, and I think another chicken fajita salad that would work...there are a few other shelf-stable entrees that would work also I believe. I always try to stay in Embassy Suites or Hilton Garden Inns (I'm a Hilton girl), but even in a Hampton Inn, there is a microwave in the lobby in the breakfast area or in the little market where there is a very limited selection of frozen meals. I figure if worse comes to worse I can live off the vitamin bars (sorry - dont know the official names yet) and find a microwave at least once per day.
Sounds like we have a common concern and I will watch this board for any ideas others share...
I am determined to get healthier! I did this for a birthday gift to myself. My birthday is this coming Monday and I need to lose about 80 pounds. Long way to go but I WILL get there! My reward will be a trip to Europe in early October where I will be able to climb the ruins without killing my knees hopefully.
Good luck to you in your travels and with your new JC diet!

Hi There...
I'm a big traveller, spending about 15 days a month on the road. So... I was MAJORLY freaked out when I first joined JC because I didn't know how I was going to do it.
Tips:
1 - If you have an iPad or iPhone, download the Jenny Craig App to your phone. It has dining out guides and suggestions of calorie counts. I usually try to keep my meals between 250 and 300 calories.. which matches the JC frozen dinners. I don't worry so much about fat (even though I probably should), but I'm just trying to make it through my travel week! Suggestions for places you can eat:
* Subway - Lots of options - I eat here almost daily (veggie sub most days because I love it) I also pick up extra of their apple packets to make sure I get my fruits in.
* PF Changs - They have AMAZING veggie items that have very low calorie counts, which I love
* Salads can be found anywhere - Salad (no cheese, no bacon, no croutons) with a lean protein + extra veggies + JC or light dressing on the side. CPK and BW3 have great salads that can be customized
In order to avoid overeating, I often go to places that weren't my old favorites where I'd be tempted toward the usual poor choices. Instead, I try new places and always check the menu online before hand. When in doubt, enjoy a salad and don't be afraid to special order (i.e. steam the vegetables, no oil, no butter, etc.)
2 - Airports are terrible for food, so eat before you go if you can. Also, scope out what's available for future reference - I've been known to pick up a Subway sammie on the way if I know I need lunch and TSA doesn't mind at all. Otherwise, I definitely try to eat before hand (it's just easier). As for snacks, most restaurants and snack bars have fresh fruit and at the BEST gift shops they have dried fruit (the kind with no sugar). Check the ingredients. You do NOT want the kind with sugar. You can also bring your JC snack or anytime bar, of course.
Also, I'm not a big fan of it, but you can always bring veggies through security in baggies from home. I'm not a big lunch packer, but I've done it a time or two.
3 - Hotel Choices - Stay at a Hotel that has a continental breakfast. Take a dry JC breakfast - I eat Complete Start on the road, and grab a FF milk and fruit from the continental breakfast. I also try to stay places that have concierge lounges (Marriott, Hilton) when I can because you can also get an evening snack - - most have veggie trays.
4 - If there's a JC in town, stop by and get a meal - I eat JC on the road in some cities I travel to. Then, I swing by McDonalds (yes) and get 2 side salads and eat it with one of the low-fat Italian dressing packets.
Ultimately, you're just getting started, so anything you do that is "good choices" will be better than what you've done before... I didn't stress too much in the beginning because I knew comparatively that it was SO much better than before.
Hope this helps... I keep a blog which shows a lot of my travel tactics. If you're interested, take a peek.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the
attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way
your mind looks at what happens. - John Homer Miller
