Hello 60'ers! I'll be 62 this Friday - yay, I can collect SS now! Of course I have to retire first and I'm not quite ready to do that yet!

I joined JC 4/2010 and lost 37 pounds in 7 months and have been on maintenance since November 2010. I have all the standard issues our age group typically suffers from - limiting arthritis, hypothyroid and the dreaded menopause! I have not been very good about exercise but I do between 8-10K steps 5 times a week. I followed the weekly menus without deviation for the first month and then started to do momo's and substitution of my favs for my not so favs but still followed the program. Now that I'm on maintenance, I do Jenny for lunch5X a week (at work) and sometimes for breakfast as well. Dinners and weekends are momos but I follow the guidelines and still log my food daily. You can do it!

I'm reading through this topic & I see that the last entry was in June -- it's now Setember! How is everyone doing? Can we all support each other & check back in? I'm on my 19th day and have lost about 3.5 lbs. Loving the foods & finding it easy (except that I had to drastically cut back on wine). I sure miss my evening glasses of wine (5 oz x 2 = 10 oz per day). One before dinner when my husband arrived home from work, and one with dinner. I don't think there's any way to incorporate wine into JC, except one or two glasses on the weekend as a treat. Sigh.

I seem to be the only one lately posting on the 60+ topics. Have all those special women lost all their weight, gone on maintenance or simply given up? I have seen no new postings on this board for months now. Are you out there? I'm ready to jump to the disabled group if no one answers this post <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I am 61 and joined jenny craig on the 9th of April the first two weeks was down 5.5 pounds but last week
did not show any loss which was very dissapointing , but I was not that active either so that might be part of the problem . I hope this week shows at least 2 lbs that would make me feel better.

I really like the food , and the snacks .

I have the armband which i find so great to keep track as to what i am doing ...
Have a great week everyone ...

Cheers
Missy

Sure nice to have a few members over 60<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Are you talking about the Metabolic Max that syncs to bodymedia? I have started using mine and other than the time involved (not much) it is helping to keep me honest and does give positive feedback to actually see what you are doing ---- or not.
Just started a month ago and also very discouraged as I speed walk for an hour and have not cheated at all and only lose .04 per week. Need to have someone to talk to, let me know how your doing, would love to hear from you.

Well I still haven't figured out how to reply. So here goes.

Yes this over 60 is still out here!. I have been doing Jenny since October 2009. I started out at 377.5 and got down to 272.5 and then last November 2010, I started having several serious health issues and all the meds they were putting into my system, were making it very hard for me to stay on my program. They were changing it on a weekly basis and my body just couldn't adjust and one medication actually made me very depressed. It got really hard to cope, so in July of 2011, I just decided to walk away, get my head together and get the medications balanced out, so I could continue to my goal. I never gave up and I did gain a total of 20 pounds back. So on Saturday September 17th, I renewed my contract and am now on my way to my goal 225 pounds. I would love to have a weight loss buddy. Wish you were a little closer.

So I am an over 60 who still works full time, is married to my best friend, over 44 years, have 2 grown children and 6 grand children, all in all pretty busy. I go to the Y twice a week for the old ladies Wave and Jog class in the water. Recently they added a venture pool, so we have a lazy river, that we can power walk against the current on tues, thurs and saturday early morning. I still have serious health issues, but I am in a very differnt place now than a year ago. I never focus on the weight number, I just focus on writing down what I eat, exercise, I mix jenny food with my food. The program has really worked for me, I love my consultant and all the behind the scenes people at Jenny's office. There has been tons of support and as I have been going through all this stuff, my consultant has worked with me and we have laid out a plan for the future to meet my goals, we also figured out that my body burns proteins, much better than carbs, pastas, so when we do my menus, we work the foods in accordingly. All in all this program has really worked for me and I am looking forward to maintence, the goal is to make it by October 2012. Not in a hurry, slow and steady like the turtle.

Hope to hear from you!

Hey, guys! I am 64 years old, and I lost 119 pounds at age 57. I returned last September because I regained 36 pounds, and I am proud to report that I am right back down again! My doctor was very pleased with me because I proved that menapausal women (sorry, Digby) can lose weight. I work out 5 days a week, but until recently, only moderate exercise. I do the Leslie Sansone WalkAerobics tapes which are gentle for us "mature" folks. I just started Jillian Michael's 30-day Shred. OMG is all I can say! But, I am doing it! I am on Day 3, and it is getting easier.

You can do it. I am living proof!

LOVE, JILL

I am reading this post many months after it was posted. I am floundering. Can't seem to get on track. I am afraid to give up because if I do there is nowhere else to go. I had a month or do that I was feeling like I could do it, but I am an emotional eater and when those emotions go awry I am not rational when it comes to food. I am so in control of the rest of my life. I live alone but am surrounded by friends and family who love me and I them. So what's the problem here?? Just bad habits that are hard to break. I feel like I am writing to no one since this is not an active thread, but here I am doing it just the same. Perhaps just airing my feelings will do something positive for my attitude today. Hope you found some great support and thank you for posting when you did. Here's hoping for a great day for me and anyone who happens to read this!

Ladies,

Part of the problem of why no one is answering you might be that you're posting in the Over 60s section which doesn't get read by a lot of folks. Most people post in the GENERAL forum.

I'm 62 and joined JC and lost 45 lbs. It took me over a year. Some of that was because of my job as an event/wedding planner and there were always parties, tastings and such. Part of it was my age. At the time I was in my late 50s and, let's face it, we don't lose weight as quickly as guys or the younger women do. So I pretty much lost it all in ounces rather than pounds (I would have the occasional "good" week where I'd lose a pound or more, but that was rare.)

I kept the weight off for more than 3 years, had a dumb slip, gained back about 10 lbs. and ran back to JC (I should have returned the minute the scale edged past the five pounds mark.) Anyway, I came back, worked at it and am now again at goal and on maintenance.

You CAN do this. The food is great. You'll get a tremendous amount of support her on the boards (if you don't mind that lots of the ladies are in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, rather than just caring about us 60+ year olds), so post often (preferably on the GENERAL boards to get the best replies) and we'll help each other. :)

Lana you are NOT alone on here. There are a bunch of us here to help you along the way.

What are the things that make you go off plan? I am an emotional eater as well and any excuse will work. One of the reasons I post here and interact with the folks on the forum is to make sure I stay accountable to myself. If you are having a bad or emotional day, come here and tell us about it. I guarantee there is someone here that has been there before and will have some suggestions for you.

Welcome to Jenny by the way!!! It does work if you work the plan!!
