I seem to be the only one lately posting on the 60+ topics. Have all those special women lost all their weight, gone on maintenance or simply given up? I have seen no new postings on this board for months now. Are you out there? I'm ready to jump to the disabled group if no one answers this post wink.gif
Hello, is anybody there? I need support and know we can best accomplish our goals together.

>Kathryn
Auburn, Washington
SW - 251
CW - 235
Goal - I am concentrating on 5% at a time rather than get caught up in the total lbs so much. I have lost my first 5% in the past two months and am settling in with the improved health feelings at each 5%.

Hi Nana, I just joined about 10 days ago. I am really happy to see that you are an advanced member. You probably have this down pat. I'm 66, started at 180, have been down to 177, butI'm 180 today. Have to start exercising. I don't plan on giving up but it is looking like a long road. I would be so happy if we could support each other. Please friend me as I have not learned all the ins and outs of this site yet. At least there are 2 of us. Hope there are more. sherrie

Okay - I just started the program last week and am glad to see some peer folks. I too would like to reap the benefits of other seasoned folks to help me be successful this time -- I do hope to not only meet but exceed the estimated life expectency. It goes by so fast and I would really like to take control of my weight but have some satisfaction that I really can do this.

Now...about exercise.....

Oh, and how do you add the weight ticker?? Haven't figured that out yet.

Hi Ladies

I am 61 and joined jenny craig on the 9th of April the first two weeks was down 5.5 pounds but last week
did not show any loss which was very dissapointing , but I was not that active either so that might be part of the problem . I hope this week shows at least 2 lbs that would make me feel better.

I really like the food , and the snacks .

I have the armband which i find so great to keep track as to what i am doing ...

Have a great week everyone ...

Cheers

Are you talking about the Metabolic Max that syncs to bodymedia? I have started using mine and other than the time involved (not much) it is helping to keep me honest and does give positive feedback to actually see what you are doing ---- or not.

I finally decided to do some measurements because while I wasn't losing what I thought I should be. I felt lighter. I slipped on a jacket yesterday and was amazed that it was loose. I actually did measurements so I could use that as a gauge in addition to the weight. I should have done this when I started so I could truly feel the joy of success!
Using the armband as well. It makes it almost fun. and it keeps me honest because I have to record what I eat.
I am on week 3 and doing okay - perhaps the best I have ever done on any program. I think one must look at the whole picture as one goes along since there are bound to be bumps along the way. At least for me, according to the magic band, I should reach my goal first quarter next year. Long way off, but ....

Keep the faith!

I have lost 5.5 lbs. on my scale (probably shouldn't weigh at home, however). I do not like the armband. Do we have to use it? Please advise...I am 71 and have written in before. Renie425

I weigh myself every day at home. It helps keep me on track. I lost 1.8 pounds this week after gaining a little last week.
I moved from Boston to San Francisco years ago.

I am on this site. I have been on the plan for 3 weeks now. I don't like wearing the armband because I had knee surgery and really cannot exercise very much. I will wear it when I am able to exercise. I love the food and have kept directly to plan according to my list of foods. Hi out there! How are you doing? How do you insert the weight bar?

Hey, guys! I am 64 years old, and I lost 119 pounds at age 57. I returned last September because I regained 36 pounds, and I am proud to report that I am right back down again! My doctor was very pleased with me because I proved that menapausal women (sorry, Digby) can lose weight. I work out 5 days a week, but until recently, only moderate exercise. I do the Leslie Sansone WalkAerobics tapes which are gentle for us "mature" folks. I just started Jillian Michael's 30-day Shred. OMG is all I can say! But, I am doing it! I am on Day 3, and it is getting easier.

You can do it. I am living proof!

LOVE, JILL
Started 1/5/04 - weighed 282.8

Hi.

I joined JC in late January. Have lost 13 lbs. I have 17 more to go. I am 5'2" age 64and it is very slow. I bought the JC scale. It tells me weight, water, & fat. It doesn't tell me how my weight compares to the last weigh-in. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, it seems complicated to me -mind, food-body. Does anyone else have trouble grasping it?

Pat: The Food, Body, Mind is pretty straightforward (notice I did not say EASY): The food part is taken care of by the Jenny Menus. Follow what they tell you to eat (in whatever order you want so long as you ONLY eat what is on the menu for the day and your limited and unlimited free foods), and you have the food part knocked out of the part. For body - they mean GET MOVING. It doesn't have to be p90X or Jillian Michaels or a workout like they do on The Biggest Loser. Just get out and walk. Head out your front door, turn left, and walk for 15 minutes in one direction and return. There. You probably went over a mile. Or whatever distances you manage. Just get moving.

The MIND part is what we all have to work on. Most of us have a bad self-image either through a sudden weight gain that took our confidence away or through a gradual increase, maybe even starting at a very young age. We play the tapes over and over in our minds that we "aren't as sexy as {__fill in the blank___}" or we can't do the things that so-and-so can, etc. We have to STOP that dialog and FAST. We are all worth it. But, until you BELIEVE that, the tapes will continue to run. No one can stop the tapes except you.

Welcome to our little group! Keep us posted about your progress.

LOVE, JILL

Jill, you are amazing!! I sure hope I can lose at least 60 lbs. Started at 219.8, now down to 211.5. Love the food (most of it). I hate the Italian food, however. I am Italian and a good cook. Need to lose for health's sake. Just had knee surgery and may need a knee replacement as it's not getting any better after 6 weeks. Do you use the armband? I cannot get used to it, and because of my lack of exercise (due to knee), don't like it. What do you think?

Good Morning! What a pleasure to check into this forum and see so many energetic members. I have been on JC since last November. Have lost a total of 15 pounds and have been stuck for about a month now. It's an attitude problem.....I just don't care..........I actually do but can't seem to get motivated ....I need to lose 75 pounds more so I can't afford to have this mental block...You all are amazing....... I am 64 years old 5'2" and at 203 lbs. I am single so I eat out alot and am trying to get back to just eating JC foods. The exercise is not easy for me because I'm lazy....I do ride my bike for about 30 minutes or until my legs give out, when it's not rainiing. I live in Indiana, as you may know, we have been bombarded with horrific weather. I Walk with a fellow JCer on Monday nights. I work full time, am single, so I really have no excuse. I stopped checking in to this forum because no one participated. What a delight and inspiration it is to see all of you here. I look forward to your motivation rubbing off.

I'm excited!

Joan

Hello all -
I just started JC on Saturday. I'm 62 years old and have at least 50 lbs to lose. This is day 3 and it has not been a challenge for me because I've taken a few days off work over the holiday. When I'm not at my stressful job, I don't have any problem staying on program and exercising. Tomorrow will be the challenge. I am definitely an emotional eater and will eat mindlessly when I'm stressed. When I come home from work, I'm too tired and just want to collapse on the couch and veg out. I know what my problems are - now I just have to conquer the challenges. It's good to have support here with other age 60+ people with similar challenges.
I look forward to support and sharing here and hope to conquer some of my Body/Mind demons
Jane

Hello 60'ers! I'll be 62 this Friday - yay, I can collect SS now! Of course I have to retire first and I'm not quite ready to do that yet!

I joined JC 4/2010 and lost 37 pounds in 7 months and have been on maintenance since November 2010. I have all the standard issues our age group typically suffers from - limiting arthritis, hypothyroid and the dreaded menopause! I have not been very good about exercise but I do between 8-10K steps 5 times a week. I followed the weekly menus without deviation for the first month and then started to do momo's and substitution of my favs for my not so favs but still followed the program. Now that I'm on maintenance, I do Jenny for lunch5X a week (at work) and sometimes for breakfast as well. Dinners and weekends are momos but I follow the guidelines and still log my food daily. You can do it!
Leslie - Lazy Zebra

First Goal - 145 lbs - Met 8/10/2010. Lost 24 pounds in 16 weeks, Average 1.5 lbs/week
Second Goal - Zap those last 10 pounds!!

Whether you say "I can" or "I can't", you're right!
