Welcome to WEEK 7 of the SURVIVOR WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE!

Hey everyone - sorry I started this later in the day than normal! But here we go...

Week 7 Mini-Challenge:

This week's episode had the "Last Man Hanging" challenge - and players could choose between playing for immunity or eating cheeseburgers.
So which will you choose this week...playing to lose weight or to eat the cheeseburger?
This week's challenge is all about choices - and the decisions we make. Throughout the week, post your "this or that" moments. At lunch did you choose between eating your JC meal or going for fast food? In the morning did you choose to sleep in verses get up to workout? For each "this or that" moment this week, let us know how you did - good, bad or indifferent. Let's make honesty with ourselves important this week, and keep one another accountable to those cravings, opportunities and challenges.

Good luck to everyone - both Red and Blue Teams! We are in the home stretch and counting down to the final tribal council and our final team results - just a few more weeks left so keep up the good work everyone!

on my way home from work today, I stopped into a JC centre to pick up a few food items to fill out my week (I missed WI last Saturday). Then I drove to a meeting. I didn't feel comfortable heating & eating jenny once i got there - so what to do?? Wait or?? I decided to get a 12 grain bagel w light cream cheese on the way. It was filling and satisfying, and only slightly higher than a Jenny meal (430 cal). I then had no problems avoiding the salsa & chips, chocolates and other goodies on the table for the meeting!

I had been feeling bad about not waiting to eat my jenny food at home - but i was so glad i had chosen this (bagel) than that (goodies) at the meeting - and had i tried to wait I know my hunger would have increased the temptation tremendously. I have logged my food into MM and all is well!

Blessings,

Ladybug

Good for you Ladybug for avoiding the tempting treat at a meeting. If it's in front of you, it's hard to resist! At my work, they have donuts!

I didn't do so well yesterday and frankly I'm scared for the week. Been having a lot of family issues, work is continually stressful, and my best friend is having medical problems. I took off yesterday because I had vertigo on the weekend and wanted to make sure I was ok. Turned out I was fine but used my free time for a great lunch at Claim Jumpers (ribs, clam chowder, and corn bread)!

Last night I had JC (probably should've skipped dinner to diffuse some of my lunch calories) and for breakfast today I had JC. I'm hoping I can use JC when the walls start to come in and when I have the thought of "oh, just give me something to eat!"

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Did anyone find Week 9 to be REALLY hard? I am having a hard time staying focused, logging food, exercising, etc. I just am tired of it or something. UGH! And the scale isn't budging this week at all so far...probably because I'm ignoring all of my tools!

I wanted to not walk last night. My hubby was great and coerced me to do it. I wanted to eat pizza or fast food. He again said, "oh you have your jenny food. You don't really need that." I probably would have made really poor choices if he didn't help keep me going yesterday.

I am going out to dinner with a friend tonight. Will have a couple glasses of wine but will try to pick a somewhat healthy meal - like salmon or something. Eating only my JC menu all day today so that I can have the yummy treats tonight. I'll have to exercise extra tomorrow!

Hi everyone,

Vacation is going well. Getting up every morning at 6:30am and running 3 to 4 miles depending on the day. I'm not eating JC this week but am making sure that I'm maintaining a calorie deficit. So far it's working out well...just need to cut off the alcohol by Friday so that I'm not retaining water for Monday's WI!

My BMI at last check was 30.2...so really hoping I get into the 29s and out of the "obese" range by Monday's WI. Note*** personally...I think that the BMI ranges need to be taken with a grain of salt. I'm pretty fit...and while I know I'm lugging around 40 extra lbs...I'm very muscular and there's no way I'm "obese".

Cheers all!

Boy not many posts this week. How is everyone out there doing? I hope the mini-challenge didn't throw everyone!

So last night I went out to dinner with a friend. I chose not to worry about what I ate. We shared 2 appetizers (fried), I had 2 glasses of wine, ordered a fairly rich pasta/steak dish for entree, and we shared a dessert. I haven't eaten that much food in a long time! I knew it was bad. I also stayed up much later than normal and got little sleep (for me). I weighed myself this morning - OMG! I gained 1.2 pounds!!!!!!

Now I'm so upset at myself. I totally sabotaged the likelihood that I will get to the 20 pound mark at my weigh in tomorrow afternoon. I am SOOO doing a lot of exercise tonight and getting to bed early!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry this is so late coming. This has been a crazy week. First the bad news, I was up 1 lb at my weigh-in on Monday blink.gif I was so disappointed, but certainly not surprised. We had our weekend away with our friends, and I ate whatever I wanted. It was a terrific weekend for life balance, not so much for food. So for the challenge I think I was pretty successful.

For this week I have already had one of those "this or that" moments. I am teaching a class away from my office and we have been going out to lunch. Today we went to Rubio's and I had to decide fish tacos or grilled chicken salad. I chose the salad (dressing on the side) and was so happy with myself for making that better choice.

Congratulations to all of us for a 65 lb weight loss. You all are so encouraging. The last time I was on JC this was where I fell apart. This has been a wonderful challenge and I count you all as a big part of my success. We need to think of another challenge for after this one ends. This has been so good for me.

Leslie, I feel for you with your step-son. During my daughter's teen age years I wasn't sure if we would make it through. We did and you will too. She grew into an amazing woman. biggrin.gif

Have a great week everybody!

Hey everyone....sorry, but I gained .2 this week. Ok, maybe I should have gone to the bathroom before weighing in! LOL It's barely a blip, but the first time in 9 weeks I didn't lose.

But I think this will be a good week. No food distractions, no going out, no plans. Just sticking to my menu plan. The week after next will be LOTs of challenges so I need to stay really focused this week.

Survivor: OMG Phillips is TRULY a crazy man! I cannot believe they didn't turn on him and vote him out. He is poison at camp!

We will definitely have to think of a new challenge after this one. I think it is good to take it in chunks with a goal.

Leslie - having your WI so soon after your meal out didn't help the number at all, and .2 is not bad, considering. Of course you don't want to have meals like that every week!

I don't see how they can stand to keep Phillip around until the end - he is a lunatic & I believe really could "snap" at any moment. I am not looking forward to seeing him in his undies for the rest of the show blink.gif - maybe Jeff will take pity on him and have a clothes challenge LOL to keep ratings up!!
Poor Matt seems to be really having a hard time, but i love how authentic he is in his faith.

WI tomorrow (finally!) I am not a patient person by nature - 2 weeks in between WIs is not my thing - I may not remember my passwords to update all my tickers anymore!! ohmy.gif I do WI in at home most days (first thing in the morn) but can be anywhere from 2.5 to 4 lbs heavier by the time I get to WI at JC, so although I know i am down but not sure by how much officially. I have had a couple meals out but done my best to eat as much Jenny as possible - funny how much that seems to help??? tongue.gif

I hope everyone is enjoying some special plans for this weekend and has a chance to connect with family or friends - but I also hope we took a little time out of our busyness to remember the sacrifice that this day (Good Friday) commemorates, and the victory to be celebrated on Easter Sunday! I went to a really great service today (but sobering) and look forward to a joyous celebration on Sunday. i love how people who do not always attend church take time out to come at Easter - it is like a great big extended family reunion!

Blessings,

Ladybug

It's me again! rolleyes.gif Just checking in after WI, was down 2.6 - but that was for 2 weeks - still very happy to see scale moving again. It actually showed .8 lower at home yesterday than today - so if i can keep it together this week i may have another good loss next WI. Only 2 more WIs before I go to Cuba! Must keep my plan in focus!

Tomorrow (Easter Sunday) we are having a pancake breakfast & potluck before church, and then a big ham & scalloped potatoes family meal at 3pm, so not a very "jenny" day but it is only 1 day - 2 meals - I have very little chocolate in the house to have for tomorrow so there should be none left and the rest of my week looks really good for being able to stay on plan. I bought good chocolate - I would rather have a small amount of this than a large amount of that (cheap easter candy) and i would rather have these 2 special meals and nothing else but veggies than to try to jennify them, as i love breakfast food! But of course i will try to contain myself somewhat! wink.gif

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE - HE IS RISEN!

LadyBug - great weight loss this week! Even if it is over 2 weeks...who cares? It's still a big win so celebrate!

For those of us who gained....it's just a small blip in our journey. Let's get back on that horse this week.

Not a lot of posts for this week - I'm still tracking everyone's progress but not much to report at this point. If you haven't posted yet for Week 7 - weight loss or mini-challenge - please still do so on this thread and I will check back over the week. With the holiday and such it seems like a lot of you are out of town and busy so no worries! Hope you are having a great time with family and friends!

I've been thinking about our next challenge, once "Survivor" is over. Has anyone ever tried logging your miles - walking, jogging, biking, treadmill, whatever - and tracked it against a major landmark? For instance, in the JC articles they have a bunch of suggestions for this - and I found the one for the Iditerod. Seeing as how I have Siberian Huskies this one intrigued me - basically you log your miles and keep track against the milestones of the race track - and eventually you end up walking/jogging/etc the distance of the Iditerod! We could also do one for "climbing" a major mountain range or even coast to coast across America. And you learn a little something along the way. I know on the Weight Watchers boards there were a ton of people participating in these types of challenges/posts and they seemed pretty popular. The other idea I had was the Couch 2 5K challenge, but I don't know that I am physically fit enough to try that yet, and many of you are already runners. Let's start bouncing around ideas for our next challenge and see what we all can come up with that sounds fun!

Hi all,

Haven't been myself this week so I didn't log in much. Felt in the pitty party world for part and then of course there's the good ol' stress, too. But I made it to the end with a 1.4 loss for the week!

Today I finally watched the Touchstones dvd (which I had since the first time I started JC). It was very interesting. On one of the exercises I cried (which was helpful), but very surprising to me. Will have to look into that more closely. Anyway, so glad for a loss!
