Hello - I am through my food challenges, but I am a little worse for wear...
I have been over 1700 calories most days this week (my week starts on Sunday as I WI on Saturday) and was 2100 yesterday after the Birthday meal out. The good news is yesterday is the only day I have not made my 1000 cal deficit target, but was still 600 caloriesl, as I jumped on my rebounder 30 minutes when I got home! Otherwise probably would have been in surplus!! And then I watched Survivor - Matt is sure doing good on Redemption Island, isn't he?

I hope to eat a little lighter tomorrow - but the leftover Brownies will be difficult to ignore - they are rapturously good, and 250 calories for a 2" square. sad.gif

Plus, I guess even though everyday was somewhat planned, it was kind of like a binge or cheat, and part of me wants to keep adding in extras (like 250 cal Brownies). But I am dredging up my slogans like:

"Protect my plan" and "I don't eat things just because they are there" and "Tea is my comfort food of choice"

Thanks for all the Birthday greetings - hi djansen! Welcome! Do you watch Survivor - not required lol.
wow did Dietmama you pulled off a great loss, and Ang - you are sooo close to 15 lbs! It will come, hang in there.

Leslie - I think the hormones may be more of a factor than you realize, look how much TOM (or preTom) sends everyone for a loop. Then of course is the mental battle. I really recommend you develop your own affirmations or slogans to help you to do battle. I can so relate - I have actually audibly moaned when passing a fast food restaurant after fighting the urge on my commute home (I drive 35-45 min, and have to pass several "hotspots" for me, They are not always hotspots, but occasionally they sure are).

I like this word picture - it is a garbled quote from Beck (who wrote the Beck diet):
we have a resistance muscle; the bad news is it is very weak - however - like any muscle, the more we use it, the stronger it becomes! BUT we also have a give in response, which we have been exercising for years, so it is very strong - however - if we use our resistance muscle, our give in response will become weaker and weaker! So Leslie - you did exercise resistance, at least a bit - and that was good. smile.gif

Let's all strengthen our resistance this week - that really is what I need to focus especially tomorrow. wink.gif
Blessings,

Ladybug

Hi Ladybug,

Good luck getting back on track today! Can you get the brownies out of the house somehow? I know having temptations in the house is horrible!

My daughter is a girl scout and i've been ok as long as the tagalongs are gone! those are the only GS cookies I eat smile.gif

And no, I don't watch survivor sad.gif I used to...but well....for whatever reason I just don't anymore.

I am on a 1200 calorie plan. I do Zumba 2x a week, and a TNT (15 min abs, 30 min weights) 2-3x a week, and then other cardio 2x a week. My body fat has gone from 28%-21% since August....it's measured thru a machine, not thru the typical bmi calculations.

Recently I have been cheating a TON, but I figured I would get back on to the forums and make myself accountable w/ all of you! Looking to have at least a 2 lb loss this week and really want to get into the 180's for the first time in 11 years!

Have a wonderful day!

Hey Djanson - what is your WI day and what is your current weight? (If you already weighed in this week, we will count next week as your first WI on the challenge). Other than that, just have fun! The team with the most collective weight loss at the end of the challenge wins. We also have optional mini-challenges that are "loosely" based on the Survivor challenges, so if you choose to participate and complete the challenge in a week, you also earn your team an extra point. That's about it! We're here to have fun and encourage one another.

So, I lost 1.2 pounds at my WI this week! That makes 12.6 pounds total lost in my first 5 weeks. Not bad.

Thank you ALL for your words of encouragement. Yeah, yesterday was rough. My JC counselor gave me some good words of advice. I went home still wanting to get the pizza and told my hubby how I was feeling - just really really anxious for no reason. He said, "well maybe instead of that pizza, why don't you get some wine to calm down a bit?" Not a bad idea. So, I stuck with my JC meal along with a bunch of veggies and had a couple of glasses of wine. I didn't think I was going to get in any exercise because of the rain. As we finished dinner and were watching TV, at around 7pm Rick looked outside and said, looks like the rain has let up a bit - shall we take the boys for a walk? So I re-dressed (I was already in my PJs for a night of sulking LOL) and we took the dogs for a walk - so got some exercise in after all. The best part was, as we walked outside, there was a COMPLETE rainbow!!! So, it was the universe's way of telling me I did good, considering the day I was having.

This morning I feel MUCH better. Sticking to the plan today!

FOOD TIP: So, I love sauces on things - especially asian sauces but they always have TONS of calories. However, if you have the Panda Express bottled sauces at your grocery store...check out the Kung Pao sauce - it is only 25 calories for 2 tablespoons. Last night I sauteed a BUNCH of veggies: fresh green beans, water chestnuts, baby corn, onions, zucchini - and added just the 2 tablespoons of the Kung Pao sauce. It gave the veggies a great spicy kick and I didn't feel like I added a ton of calories that would hurt me. Most of those sauces are well over 70 calories, but this one is the lowest and is really good! So if you like spice, try it on your veggies sometime.

Oh...and Survivor this week....Matt is rocking the redemption island challenges! I think the purple team is gonna get a HUGE wake up call at the merge...they are way too comfortable in their alliance and aren't thinking far enough ahead in the game. GO ROB! The guy is brilliant. Phillip is just on for comedic relief - but I bet they keep him on until the end because nobody would give him the million dollars I don't think!

So the challenges this week were the ball in the maze, and the catapult balls caught by teammates in weird racket looking things. Boy....I'm really gonna need to put my thinking cap on for next week's mini-challenge!

Brownies are at work - where I can get one everytime I go to the washroom, or kitchen!!!

I am supposed to bring the leftovers home but I am hoping that there won't be much left so that there is just enough for me to charitably leave for the weekend staff.

djansen - your body fat % has really improved, awesome - but 21% is really low, especially for a woman, do you think it is accurate? If it is - it means you are very muscular, so I think you would need to go about weightloss a little differently from fatties like me! I would definitely discuss this with you JCC, and maybe even insist they refer your info to corporate/dieticians for advice. Because your JCC may not have had this situation before - overwight but not overfat. I think 1200 calories may be too low for you. Are you very tall?

hi ho hi ho....will check back after WI tomorrow!
Blessings,

Ladybug

WI day is Thursday
CW 192.8

Yes, it's actually pretty accurate and I do have a lot of muscle and am pretty strong. Yeah, sometimes when I workout more I do bump up to 1500. I do definitely still have plenty of chub on me. I'm only 5'7. Before JC, I was in a size 18/20 and XL shirts. Now I wear L or sometimes a M depending on the cut and can wear a 14 pants. Unforutnately, I still have a bubble butt and lovely twinskin from a full term twin pregnancy. I have been on JC for 3 years now sad.gif and well, sadly, I wish I would've lost more by now, but it's my own fault. I woke up today and decided, this is it...need to get these last 30 lbs off and do it now! Hoping you can all be my support to get it done asap smile.gif

Hi everyone,

When I first read the challenge I thought I would try the meal mini challenge, but later decided against it. My week has been so hectic that I didn't want to add a cooking challenge, but I did do something different at the gym. I tried the rotating step machine (not sure the real name) for 10 minutes after I rode the stationery bike for 25 minutes. I've watched people on that machine and everybody seems to be real fit and they have a fast pace. That is definitely a great workout even at the slowest speed. I felt so accomplished afterwards. I'm going to try it again on Sunday when there aren't a lot of people around! Maybe I'll even last longer than 10! biggrin.gif

Down 1 pound this week and I met my challenge goal smile.gif
I really think part of my slow weight loss lately is because I switched birth control (pill to the mirena). A friend of mine told me she retained water for a while when she switched.

Darbyk - I went back to week 2 to see your update there too - good job!

sorry red team I am a little bummed - .4 loss 2 weeks in a row. Home scale indicated at least 1-1.5 lbs but my routine was different prior to WI today. Also, had a few higher calorie days - here's hoping I have good one next week.

Plus today I had a new JCC, mine was sick & it was her last day so didn't get to say goodbye. sad.gif And I never got to ask her who she would recommend as her replacement! The new one seemed fine, but I am going to talk to the program director to get her recommendation too.

on a more positive note - the brownies stayed at work and I am quite sure there will be none left by Monday!

Leslie - I have an exercise ball I have never inflated, could that be my challenge for next week lol? wink.gif
Blessings,

Ladybug

Good morning everyone - sorry I didn't post this on Saturday - teenagers hogged the computer all day.

Here is what I have for our stats - let me know if I missed anything as I re-read through all of the posts. Sometimes it is easy to miss something.

BLUE TEAM:
msnelson13 - ??
LoseItIn2011 - (-1.0) / +1 pt for challenge
Lisa Bilz - (-0.8) / +1 pt for challenge
djanson24 - just starting this week (next week's WI will count)
klump12 - ??

RED TEAM:
Leslie74 - (-1.2) / +1pt for challenge
dietmama - (-4.0) / ??challenge??
Darbyk - WI? / +1pm for challenge
All-in-Ang - (-1.4) / +1pt for challenge
Ladybug - (-0.4) / ??challenge??

Right now Red Team is in the lead with a 7 pound weight loss this week! However, we still have 3 members needing to post their WIs for this week so it isn't done for this week yet! Great job everyone.

Please post on this thread updates to the above only for week 3. Check out the Week 4 new thread, starting today, for further support and fun.

Ladybug, it was great!

I'm starting to read the book now "Chi Running" but with two little ones I hardly ever have time for leisure reading
so we'll see.

Anyway, it's all about making running a painless and natural activity and something your body was meant to do with out injury. That got me hooked and I've been trying to follow the YouTube videos ever since I started running 9 weeks ago and so far NO shin splints, knee pain. NOTHING! I'm hoping the class will take me to the next level. Highly recommend to anyone who is afraid of running. They want to teach everyone no matter their health, age, etc how to run pain free.
