Nice that there's some support by way of chatting here on JC. I'm 35 and 5'4 and 164 lbs... my goal is 140 but if I reach it I might go for another 5. I still am not "horrified" at my weight but I know that I would be very sad if I wait until I am horrified... and that the journey will be that much harder if I do that. So I'm doing it now.
So far I like it on JC. The only thing I'm worried about is that I'm making lots of substitutions to the planned menus and I hope that doesn't come to bite me in the butt. Has anyone tried entering all their foods on the armband website (I get mine on Friday) and see whether they are in the right caloric range? Is it easy or hard to do?
My sister just started on JC too. We live together. I am reading about how some of you need to still cook for a husband and children... wow... that's amazing that you do that and are able to keep this up. It's worth it!

What do you mean by substitutions on the planned menus? Are you adding or own food or just switching the meals around?
You are right...I did the same thing. I was gaining weight after quitting smoking. I saw family members who are over weight and it scared me that I would end up like them...so I made the choice to get the weight off before it got the best of me. I am 5'3 and my weight got up to 143. I am now down to 115 which is my normal weight range. I feel so much better!!
Good luck to you and your sister!
