WELCOME to WEEK TWO of the Survivor Weight Loss Challenge!

Anyone can join at anytime. If you would like to join the fun, please post the following information and I will add you to a team roster:

* Your JC name / first name (optional)
* WI day
* Your current weight

WEEK TWO MINI-CHALLENGE:
On Survivor this week, the teams competed in an obstacle course challenge where they had to use different tools in their Craftsman toolbox to complete each leg of the course.
What are the "tools" in your weight loss "toolbox"?

If you want to compete in the Week 2 Mini-Challenge, pick ONE of the tools in your toolbox to focus on for this week, and post whether or not you complete this challenge Sun-Sat.
  • BodyMedia armband wearers: Log ALL food everyday and hit your personal targets EACH DAY (Calorie deficit & activity)
  • Meals on My Own people: Log ALL food everyday JC online or in a journal, ensuring you hit your target calories daily. Post at least ONE of your favorite JC recipes for the group to hear about.
  • Other-Exercise: Tell us what your "go-to tool" is for exercise and amount of time, and commit to completing your goal for the week.

RED TEAM:
  • Leslie74
  • dietmama
  • Darbyk
  • All-in-Ang
  • Ladybug

BLUE TEAM:
  • msnelson13
  • LoseItIn2011
  • Lisa Bilz

GOOD LUCK to both the Blue and Red Teams! I am so enjoying getting to know you all...I hope you find these challenges FUN and helpful. Have a great week everyone!

Since I am still trying to focus on my armband, I will chose that as my Week 2 mini-challenge.

My goal this week is to log all of my food, have a calorie deficit of 1000 cals/day, and a minimum of 45 minutes/day moderate activity.

What will you all decide for your week 2 challenge?

I'm going to take the arm band challenge. I haven't been consistent with updating my info, but my goal this week will be to log everything I eat and meet my targets. I'd love to see my JCC's face when I tell her how good I did with my armband! I'm going to look at it one day at a time...so today, I've been successful! biggrin.gif

hey all - I am pretty good at making my targets on the armband, so I think I will set an activity goal:

2x Curves
1x Leslie Sansone walking DVD
everyday min 15 min on Rebounder

These 3 tools, plus my treadmill, are my go to items for activity - and if I had to pick just one, I couldn't! blink.gif I will be out of town 2 days this week so left the T-mill off of this week's list, but will bring my rebounder with me!

If this kind of activity can become 2nd nature for me, it will help me so much when I reach maintenance. When I started to regain last year - all my healthy habits just disappeared and I need to keep them up if I want to be successful long term. I accept that now. rolleyes.gif
Blessings,

Ladybug

I'm an armband wearer. I just updated my goal in BM from a 500 cal deficit to a 750 cal deficit. So that will be my target this week to hit 750 every day. The only challenge I have this week is going out to dinner Friday night with friends - but I've done pretty well so far when eating out. Just have to plan ahead. Good luck everyone!

I'm also pretty diligent with the armband..almost obsessive about syncing and logging my food so that I can analyze my numbers:)..and it does work!!

I just recently raised my activity level from moderate to very active on the armband to make myself reach a little more with the "vigorous" activity. I'm going to take on the "other activity" challenge. While I walk, run, and do TKD several times a week...something that gets my heart rate up and me sweaty very quickly is jump rope. I HATE the jump rope:) So I'll commit to doing at least 500 skips every day this week to get my endurance up for that activity.

Have a good week everyone!!!

This is going to be a good one for me. I am travelling all week, so I will be tracking all my food in my Fatsecret.com journal. I used it last week while I was travelling and it kept me on track. I also commit to daily exercise. This one is a little harder, but the hotel has a gym and I will also hike each morning while I am in Paso Robles.

My weighin is Monday the 21st, and I am praying that I will have continued losing weight with all this crazy travel.

Hey ladies - happy Sunday! I LOVE seeing you all posting your challenges for the week - I'm so exciting for all of us to have another THINK THIN week!!

For the armband, I find what works best for me is when I get the next week's menu, I enter all of the Jenny Food, milk, fruit, lean meats at one time for the 7 days. That way each day, all I need to do in the evening is go in and update it - usually takes about 5 minutes. I add the veggies (I hate that it calculates the calories on veggies! It always puts me over), remove anything I didn't eat, maybe switch a few things around if I chose to eat something different...and I'm done! That also allows me to check my stats each evening, which I love to do. I wish it had a water intake tracker on there.

I can't seem to get the Vigorous activity to register - I can be doing a Kinect workout and sweating, and it still says no vigorous activity. What do you have to do to get that to raise?

Yesterday I bought a pair of those shape-ups tennis shoes. Hoping that will increase my exercise for my legs when we take the dogs for a walk. We have been making our walks longer and longer which is nice. However, my husband is going to have knee surgery sometime soon, we just found out last week that he has to get it done. So the dog walking will be difficult while he is in recovery. Yes, I know I can take them one by one (we have 3 Siberian Huskies that PULL) but when I do that, the two that got left behind howl the ENTIRE time I am gone. Kinda drives those at home batty.

With the time change today...and me sleeping in far more than I normally do...I ended up skipping my breakfast and snack and went straight to lunch. So today should be an easy day to hit my targets! Just did a bunch of household chores, and will go out with the dogs in a bit with my new tennies! My calves do hurt a bit this morning.

By the way - CONGRATS to the Blue Team for being the leader in weight loss this week!

Blue team - week 1 weight loss - 10.6 pounds
Red team - week 1 weight loss - 9.2 pounds

I wish I could figure out how to post a table from excel into this field. I'll have to figure that out so that I can post for everyone at some point.

Yay! Go BLUE!!! (and go red also!) wink.gif great job everyone!

I will do the armband challenge! My deficit is at 1000 and a min of 45 min of moderate exercise...going to be a difficult week though. We have a ton of family coming in and so much to do around the house...not much time to exercise... oh and lots and lots of homemade cooking goodness lol! especially for shabbos this Friday! yikes!

My go to exercise is the elliptical for 30 min or more and doing squats, lunges and jumps while holding my 25 lb son during commercial breaks!! smile.gif

Keep up the great work everyone!

Reporting before leving town:

so going great! I did 10 min earlier first thing and am taking rebounder with me. Will probably get in more tonight easily while watching Biggest loser!
Foodwise yesterday felt like a struggle - I am doing the exercises in 100 days of weightloss, and the section i am in (lessons 21=30) is all about favourite foods and thinking about them and listing them and then choosing to eat some in small portions, slowly etc so consequently i ate off plan and indulged some tastes/temptations in a conto\rolled way - but still it threw me a bit so ate fine calorie wise but not really on plan yesterday. Now i travel for 2 days so hope this does not continue!

Congrats Blue team!
Blessings,

Ladybug

Hi everyone!

So good news bad news. The good news first, I lost another 2.4 lbs this WI (that's 13lbs since I started). YEAH!:) It was also my 4 week WI and they re-did my measurements...I lost 10 inches!!!

Bad news...I've been getting only 100 skips a day in..not the 500 I originally targeted...so sorry team, I blew my mini-challenge this week, but I'll keep at the skipping:) Doing well with the exercise, I've been hitting my targets...have been doing a lot of running:)

I'm trying really hard to make 20lbs lost ... I promised myself a nice pair of RayBans once I hit that goal.

Hope everyone else is having a great week!!!

Hey Ang - great job on the weight loss and inches this week! WAY TO GO! Hey, it sounds like you and I started at the exact same time - I will be doing my Week 4 WI and inches tomorrow.

Klump - I have the same armband goals - 1000 cal deficit and 45 min moderate activity. Hey, with all of that preparation at home for family, you are probably racking up the steps and activity! Who knew vacuuming and doing laundry could help us to our goals! I read an article one time that said when you are doing laundry, if it is on the same level then you should take one item back and forth to put away so that you get a lot of walking in, and if you have to go up/down steps, take only 3 pieces at a time. It would take me hours to get all of my laundry done I think! But, it's a way to log those steps in I suppose.

I am so proud of everyone on here for posting and tracking for the mini-challenge. I have to sync my armband, but with all of the rain we are getting this week in Sacramento, we haven't taken the dogs for a walk since Sunday, and although I did do a workout on Kinect on Monday - I think I tweaked my knee a little so it has been hurting - I can't do lunges or squats quite yet apparently. Needless to say, I didn't do anything yesterday. I think my # of steps is not going to be meeting my daily goals this week - but I'll check tonight after work. It's really hard to get 7500 steps in a day when I sit in an office for 8 hours. Especially when it is raining so I can't take a break and go for a walk around the block while at work.

ADMISSION: Okay, I have to confess. I went off plan twice already this week. On Saturday while I was out shopping, I stopped at Red Robin and had a cheeseburger and fries. I was SO craving it! I couldn't resist. And last night, I got pizza for my hubby and step-sons, and I gave in and ate 2 slices instead of my JC meal. I was a little anxious and stressed about something, and I just wanted the pizza. I tried to convince myself not to, but I did it anyway. It's so hard to break old habits of going to food for comfort.

However, that being said, I still have been losing this week, so I'm looking forward to my WI tomorrow. Hopefully those 2 moments of weakness won't hurt me in the end.

Well, back to work. Talk to ya' all later!
~ Leslie

Hey Leslie,

Don't sweat it!! If you were really craving it and you didn't give in...maybe you would have ended up bingeing later. After all, this is a new way of life and not a "diet" right? It's best just to acknowledge that it was a splurge and move on:)

Hey Leslie,

Don't beat yourself up about the indulgences. It is all a matter of perspective. I think most of us have spent years feeling like we were failures when we didn't follow whatever "diet" we were currently on to the letter and then falling into the "well now I blew it so I guess I'm a failure" logic. You recognized what you were doing and made the food a part of your plan. This has been one of my hardest lessons. I've spent years beating myself up then sabotaging my success.

I have logged at least 30 minutes on the treadmill every day since the challenge started, whoo hoo! I am still eating on my own this week, and tracking my calories daily. I'm averaging between 1200 and 1350 calories daily. I am looking forward to my weighin on Monday to see how succesful (or not) I have been during this two weeks of travel. I just found out that I will have to be back here in Sacramento the first week of April huh.gif

Wishing everyone a great rest of the week! Go Blue and Red! We can do this.

Leslie, thanks for putting this all together. It is really helping me to stay motivated!
