Happy Wednesday everyone! WOW - so many posts - I'm not sure where to start!
Congratulations to everyone who have had a loss at their WI so far this week! Way to go! I will be weighing in tomorrow night which is a day earlier than usual but I couldn't get in on a Friday this week. I'm pretty sure I will have a significant weight loss this week - keeping fingers crossed!
For those of you who didn't see the water challenge until Monday, let's count Monday-Sunday as your 7 day week so you can get all 7 days in! YAY!
Water Question and some facts:(taken from a weight loss class I took by Herbalife, based on cumulative research - I can get the name of where this data comes from if anyone is interested, but here goes)- Milk and soda doesn't count. Herbal teas can count as water, but anything with caffeine in it is a diuretic which causes your body to dehydrate - so for every cup of coffee or tea or caffeinated soda you drink, you are supposed to drink TWO glasses of water to counter the diuretic effect.
- A minimum of 64 ounces of water a day for the "average" person is suggested to keep the body hydrated. It should be drank evenly throughout the day rather than in big gulps because if you chug it down, it just goes straight through you to the bathroom.
- HOWEVER, if you are on a diet and want to lose more a guide is to drink 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight. (YEP, so if you weigh 200 pounds, you should drink 100 ounces of water a day for optimum weight loss!!!!) If you have a medical condition that doesn't allow much water intake, do not try this.
- Water makes your metabolism burn calories 3% faster - so let it do the work for you!
- Water suppresses appetite naturally and is key in burning stored fat. Your body doesn't know the difference between hunger and thirst so when you feel hungry, drink water first!
- Studies show that a decrease in water intake can cause fat deposits to increase! (OH NO!!!)
- Your kidneys do not function properly without adequate water intake.
- Water also helps to maintain proper muscle tone by giving them natural ability to contract and not be dehydrated. Also it helps prevent sagging skin from weight loss and develops a clear radiant complexion.
- Water flushes waste products from the body so it helps eliminate constipation.
So grab that glass of water and enjoy!
Survivor:I loved Russell before, but I'm kind of done with him now. I want someone new to rise in the ranks over Rob and Russell to win. I agree...that Stephanie girl has a serious celebrity crush on Russell! I have a few favorites but can't think of their names right now...but I can't wait for the show tonight!!!!!
Kinect:I am really liking the Your Shape Fitness Extreme game. It has some great fitness workouts and is all based on your age, weight, activity level, goals, etc. Pretty cool system. It's hard to get the steps exactly like your trainer especially since I'm out of shape, but I do what I can. It's kind of creepy to see yourself as an image on the computer screen - it makes me want to lose weight even more so that my computer self looks better! LOL Darn that infrared scanner's accuracy!!!
I do think I want to get Dance Central - for some fun activity. It's by the makers of Rock Band and those games are excellent.
Activity:I looked at boot camps but the one in Rocklin is only at 5:30am in the mornings and I just can't get up that early! I also don't think I'm physically capable of keeping up yet, but I hope to find one that I can participate in after dropping a few more pounds.
I want to try a Zumba class, but I haven't yet.
I also really want to do the C25K program, however I did try it before and my ankles and calves just can't handle any jogging yet. So I have to build up stamina in longer faster walks for awhile before diving into that. But I REALLY want to try jogging/running - my body just isn't ready for that yet.
