Down 2.2! I was a bit disappointed as I thought it would be more, but I've been so sick with the flu that I was only able to do 3 days of my 50 minute walk. I'm trying to be happy with the loss and forge on!

That's the spirit! As we age (I HATE that expression, but it fits), it becomes harder and harder to lose. Another thing is managing expectations. The Biggest Loser shows their competitors losing 8, 10, 16 pounds in a week. In the first place, most of the candidates for this program have a high percentage of fat to lose. If you watch the episodes with the doctors on, they focus on the percentage of fat. In the second place, those competitors have none of the life challenges for their day-to-day lives that the rest of us; they don't work, and can totally focus on their weight loss. Lastly, they work out many hours a day, which most of us can't.

That was a great loss for being sick. I had a cold that has finally gone away. I lost nothing the first week I had it, only a pound the second weigh in, and I think I gained this week. I am less than 5 pounds from goal, so it is going to get tough from here on out.

Good luck, Patti! You are doing great!

LOVE, JILL

Today is my 1st week. I have lost 5.5 lbs. I know that it is going to be a LONG journey for me. My body just loves to be fat. It will not let me easily lose this weight. But, I am going to have to remain stubborn and just continue eating what JC says.
I just have to remain positive!

Middleaged: Your body doesn't love being fat. It probably is not sure what you are doing to it! It is a mind thing. I was watching The Biggest Loser last night, and even though I have heard this all my life, it resonated with me last night. One of the participants, Moses, was talking about how he started the journey to lose weight for his family, so he could be there for his wife and daughters. He had a break through last night where he realized he had to do it for HIMSELF. When he was doing the right thing for himself, the side effect is he would be a better husband and father for his wife and children. It is a mind thing!

What are you talking about 2.2 pounds is wonderful. You are right on target, that is what they want you to lose each week. Congrats to you!!
