I am considering purchasing the Kinect for Xbox 360. It's a fairly big investment and since it is new technology, I want to make sure it is worth the money.

I looked through the fitness games, and it looks like the best reviewed are the EA Sports Active 2.0, Dance Central, Kinect Sports, and maybe the Biggest Loser (although I'm not ready for that strong of a workout).

I need something that is fun that tricks me into exercising, and I hate gyms. I don't like others watching me.

If you have a Kinect and games you like/ don't like - please let me know! Thanks.

I don't have a kinect, since I have the Wii, but a friend of mine does and it's a ton of fun. We play Dance Central and Kinect Adventures. Both of them are tons of fun, get your heart rate up and let's you burn some serious calories. I think you would be happy with it!

Leslie, have you purchased Kinect by now?

Kinect is great and works nicely, but I have to admit that mine doesn't get as much use as I expected. We have had it since christmas. I like Dance Central and Adventures, the one that comes included with system purchase. My daughter still likes kinectimals, although she loses interest from time to time. We also have Sports and Your Shape Fitness Evolved. My husband played Sports a couple of times. I am embarassed to say that I haven't even tried Your Shape and I've had it since February.

One thing that I don't like with xbox is that you can't watch netflix, hulu etc. on it unless you buy a gold membership. That is on top of netflix fees. With wii there are no extra charges. Xbox gold membership is $60/year, but there are upgrade cards still to be found for $40. We paid for gold this year but won't be renewing once it expires.

They have a Zumba game out for it not. I plan to buy it once I reach my 15% goal. But I enjoy the Kinect Adventures and Dance Paradise game on there. My kids enjoy it too!

BarbaraCakes,
I also wanted zumba game but amazon reviews weren't that great. People are complaining that the game doesn't pick up the moves so it's more like a dvd than a kinect game. My jcc conirms this but she says she still loves the game.
Sometimes it drops under $30 on amazon.

Yea I have heard that too. I know some games tend to need more movement room so maybe thats why it doesn't pick up. I know a few people who still enjoy it though so im still debating if I'll be getting it or not :-)

I have the x box kinect and LOVE it! I use it as my main workout - I do at least 5 days a week. I started with the "Your Shape- Fitness evolved" but did not care for this workout video. You really don't get much of a total body workout.

I now have the Biggest Loser for kinect and love it. It has several preset programs, or you can just do a daily training and it will provide a random set of excersises for however many minutes you want.

I am doing the 12 week preset program for weight loss and you tell it at the start how many days per week you are going to work out, the length and how strenuous you want the workout. I started with 6 days a week, 40 min each workout and at the moderate level. After week 2 it asked me if I wanted to change anything and I upped it to the challenging level. This particular preset program is a total body workout, but they have preset programs for arms, leg, etc.

The only small drawback is that if I don't have time and only want to do 20 min, then I can't sign in as "me" because it has me on this 12 week program. I just sign in on my husbands id and do a daily training routine.

The kinect display is good because it lets you know if you are getting the form correctly and to get the max calories burned you have to keep up with the pace of the instruction on the screen. Since ther are levels of intensity (easy, moderate, challenging and hard) you should be able to start off with something you can do.
And in this program that I am doing there are weekly weigh ins. You can have Bob or Jillian as your on screen trainer or has it randomly select for each day/
Some of the excersises I just can't do, but I notice I am getting better and at least try to do them. I've noticed I am getting stronger.
