So I was watching an Oprah episode from this past December where she was talking about gratitude and I remember having always thought about following her advice about starting a gratitude journal. She mentions how it really does help to focus on the positive while you are struggling through something and I thought, what a perfect thing for my JC journey. And since I've been so addicted to the forum, I thought it would be a great thing to hear everyone else's daily or weekly or onetime posts.

“When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears”
Anthony Robbins

1. My DH who was recently laid off (again), just got great news about a new position.
2. I enjoyed my 3rd week C25K running session during a magnificent Miami day next to the bay.
3. Love my new sneakers that will make me a Zumba pro.
4. Lost THREE pounds this week! So grateful to my wonderful JCC who has helped and supported me every step of the way.

Thanks for reminding me about this. I meant to do it the first time I heard about it, but didn't. I'm not sure I'll do it now because I feel like there's so much on my plate (no pun intended, being a JC girl. laugh.gif ) But it's a very good idea!

I'm so happy that people are joining. This has been a busy week and I have forgotten to post but here are some new ones.

1. Grateful to my little girl who told me for the first time "You are the BEST mom!" And later whispered in my ear over and over "I love you". Can't really get better than that!

2. So thankful to my kids' wonderful teachers. They are doing amazing work every day and am amazed to see how much they both have grown this year. Reading their progress reports really was an awesome experience. I can't believe they're no longer babies!

3. Happy that I finished my 3rd week on the Couch to 5K program. A little more challenging this week but I did it!

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend! Blessings to all!

Great thread idea! Hope I remember to visit it FREQUENTLY!
  1. Today I am thankful for my renewed energy and good health after maintaining my weight loss for nearly 14 months.
  2. I am thankful I had the will to make s/f hot chocolate instead of sharing DH's nachos that I just made him.
  3. I am thankful to have like-minded individuals who share this weight loss journey and the rewards it brings on this MB.
  4. I am thankful my son is newly employed by the city PD, my daughter has a great job, and my SIL is experiencing his very first semester of college at age 28.
  5. I am thankful I have so mannnnny things to be thankful for; I'll quit for now and join back later.

50+ pound weight loss and into maintenance. It's been an exciting road and well worth the effort.

Here's to weight loss and a new life!

I've had a tough 24 hours after hearing some sad news about a close friend. I feel like I'm walking in a fog and this morning kept thinking I owe it to her and my own family to snap out of it. Then I thought of this journal. What a perfect place to take the steps.

1. I am so infinitely grateful for my beautiful, talented, generous friend S. She is a ray of sunshine and I hope her light continues to burn bright as she fights the cancer invading her.

2. I am so lucky and blessed to have a wonderful support system that will pray for her and send her the strength she needs.

3. So thankful to my amazing children who make me realize what life is all about.

4. Thankful that hearing this terrible news just strengthens the fact that I am fully committed to JC and making myself the healthiest I can be. I am fully in control and owe it to myself to do it!

I love you sweet S! Even though I'm miles away, I'll be thinking of you everyday!

((((Marta)))) sending you a cyber hug.

I am sorry about your friend Marta, what an awful sentence to be given. My dad had cancer, and it really made him and I appreciate this life we are given alot more. I think when we see loved ones go through illnesses it should bring us into a heart of thanksgiving and gratefulness for our own good health....like yourself, so kudos to you there. When my dad overcame cancer the first time it really made him look at life differently, it made him a gentle and kinder person, having compassion and love for others, more considerate. He said he didnt have time for hatefulness and unforgiveness in his life ....just thankfulness for the 2nd chance he was given. So yes, I can see where you are feeling very grateful and thankful today, for your family and health.

Again Marta, I am so sorry. Sounds like you have a positive attitude though and I am sure you will be fine. God Bless You!

Today I am thankful to Melissa for the bump! This is a great topic that I missed. It also helped me to understand what 'bump' means.

AND I am thankful to the random girl who approached ne at the gym to tell me that she could see I've lost weight!!! Love her!

Finally, I am thankful for Zumba. It gets me off my tush and to the gym. I hate to miss a class. And we all know that the best exercise...Is the one you do!!!!!

I am at the end of my emotional rope after having a rough week. I needed this thread, I needed to regain focus.

1. I am thankful I am not a stress eater. I laugh as I write that, but this week is so much more tolerable knowing that when I go in to weigh this afternoon that I will have a loss and not a gain.

2. I am thankful for my friends and family, for being there for me, supporting me, and reminding me that no matter what happens they love me and are there for me.

3. I am thankful for this forum, I can come on here and read people's good news and rejoice with them.

4. I am thankful that I am me and I have my life and no matter what **** happened this week, the sun will come up tomorrow and my life will go on. The sun will always come up tomorrow and that's a very good thing.

Thank you for bumping Melissa!!!

Just what I needed this week as well. (And funny enough, I started this topic. Hmmm...shows you I still need major help following through).

This month has been beyond tough but I have a lot to be grateful for.

1. Grateful to have amazing friends and family who tell me every day what a great job I'm doing.

2. Elated with the garbage truck man who hollered across the street "Lookin' good! Keep up the work!" SERIOUSLY!

3. Extremely thankful my dad will be out of ICU tomorrow after an unexpected long stay in the hospital. This Daddy's little girl loves him to pieces.

4. Lucky that my oldest got over her strep throat and I had one day to regain my strength to now take care of the little one. Yes, strep will pass!

5. Although unhappy with the scale this week (first time with NO loss), I am so grateful for this journey and new life I am beginning. Here's to another step in the right direction.

Much love to all of you!
Marta

I am thankful I found the book "Today We Are Rich". It talks about this very topic and so many more great things. And the author of my book mentions that he was on the Oprah show... just wondering if it was the same person rolleyes.gif

I am thankful for our camper which took us out of town for the weekend while DH teaches his class. I dropped him off at school and am enjoying a diet coke at McDonald's.

I am thankful to have a laptop so I can communicate on the forum while on vacation, as it helps me stay focused.

I am thankful I have a good job to go back to tomorrow. Today the sun is shining and it appears as though we might get spring yet.
