The days I am at home, I really struggle with cheating, wanting a treat here or there. I tried the free foods but when something is stuck in my head. Tips for stopping? I would lose so much more if I could just stop!

Stay busy!!!! Thats what I have to do, even on off days and being home all day I have to keep my hands busy. Whenever you feel a craving come on get up and move about....anything to distract yourself. Cravings usually subside fairly quickly. Drinking water helps too.

Come on here and post away too......the distraction is great. ha

Is anyone at home with you?? I find the best option is to tell my DH. He then either takes the food away and hides it, or watches me like a hawk tongue.gif

If he's not around, I just try to distract myself. The more days you stay strict with the program, the easier it is, I find. So, perhaps work up to a goal of something you can get yourself once you acheive x number of days strictly "on plan".

My DH has a red toolbox with a lock. I ask him to put all my trigger foods in it- crackers, peanut butter, nuts, etc. It's not an issue. I used to feel guilty and pathetic, but I'd feel more pathetic if I couldn't control myself and started gaining weight. If an alcoholic had booze in the house, he/she would drink it. Same with trigger foods for me. So, I lock them up. Out of sight, out of mind.

Don't bring unhealthy food into the house. This is key. If this isn't 100% possible (other family members) then definitely put it out of sight (I love Frana's suggestion of lock and key!).
Drink 1 to 2 glasses of water if a craving hits.
Go for a walk.
Brush your teeth or chew gum.
Do something that involves your hands - knitting, typing or writing.
As Melissa suggested, posting here will help keep you distracted and remind you of why you're doing this. I also like reading a few chapters of Linda Spangle to help keep me on plan.

Finally, you can review a few bank statements to remind yourself that you've put a lot of money into this program. This is an investment in yourself. You deserve to be healthy, so stop standing in your own way! Good Luck!!!! smile.gif

I just got some teeth whitening strips that require 30 mins of application - I put them on when I walk in the door after work (my witching hour) and it helps me calm down and break the pattern of binge eating that seems to occur during this very specific time period.
