Hi, I am fifteen and 170 pounds. I just started the program 2 days ago. I've been very depressed about the way I look. Since I started I been constantly worried I wont lose weight. I have asthma which triggers when I exercise. I also worried I wont lose weight and gain weight because I can't finish my menu plan. I get full just eating the main dishes. I feel more fat then I first started. I so scared I can't sleep. I also worried that getting to 140 is not enough, that I'll still have some belly fat. Im starting to think maybe I should change my plan to 130 but I don't know what's best. So confused. Please help I feel sad. This is suposed to be a exciting experience for me and I want to feel like it is instead of worrying and crying. I would also like a buddy who is going through the same things and is my age

I have a 13 year old daughter in your position and I believe you feel just like she does.

Don't worry about your goal weight. Whether you make it 140 or 130, doesn't matter today. Wait until you get to 140 and see what you look like. I'm on Jenny Craig and have about 13 pounds to meet my goal. Looking at myself today, I'm sure I'm going to lower it, I'm sure I won't be happy in 13 pounds. But I'll deal with it then.

As far as your asthma and exercise, don't jump into anything too fast. Just try to increase your activity every day. Take stairs instead of elevators. Have your parents park a little further away from the door of the store. Gradually get more steps in. You may find the weight loss helps take care of the asthma problem.

The food will work itself out as you go. I regularly eat only the entree for my meal, then have carrots an hour later if I feel like it. I usually eat my milk serving from breakfast with my lunch, in the form of a yogurt.

Good luck and keep using this forum - we're here to help.

You need your beauty sleep! If you are all stressed out and dont get proper sleep, it'll affect weight loss and make it much harder to loose weight from your belly!

Drink lots of water, follow the plan as best you can, be as active as you are comfortable doing, and you'll be just fine. I promise! Besides, you have a young persons metabolism. It is far easier to loose weight while you are young than when you get into your 40's and beyond.

As far as exersize goes, there are probably some types that you could benefit from that may not trigger your asthma. How about yoga or pilates? Swimming? A leisurely walk or bike ride? How about a little weight training? Not all exersize requires you to run around and get all sweaty in order to loose weight.

When you reach your goal of 140, you can always decide to loose more. Wait and see how it goes.

Take care,
Angela

You have received great advice from these ladies. Don't let fear sabotage your weight loss efforts. Drink your water, as mentioned, also space your meals and snacks. Save something for late night.
Most important, take it one step at a time. Get through one week, then on to the next. Slow and easy, you can do it! Because you WANT to do it. Best wishes! Keep us posted.

Hello sweetie, I know how you feel. I weighed 150 pounds at around age ten and now weigh 240 pounds. I know I have a lot to lose, more than you do and for me I feel fine! I mean...I did not want to lose weight at first because I become comfortable with how I looked. I am eighteen now and I have asthma too...
