I joined mid August, 2010 and I am loving my new girlfriend, Jenny Craig 'cause she can cook. (Actually, we haven't ever met)

I enjoy the variety of meals and the food is pretty good. Still, I definately have my favorites. I just had to get over the shock of the portion sizes. They are a half to a fourth to what I am used to seeing and eating. Still, I don't usually feel hungry for long because I definitely eat more fruits, vegetables and dairy than I used to. I have also found that I am spending more time to prepare and measure and even take longer eating now than I used to. I think my volume of total food is actually higher than it was, but now I am eating better food choices.

I have lost 37 pounds from my top weight of 290, but still have 79 more to go to reach goal. I am exercising nearly every day for an hour, since I read in the Jenny Craig literature that the majority of people who maintain their weight loss do an hour for 5 or more days a week. I figured I might as well jump in with both feet. I do a lot of walking, mainly. I do try to mix it up a little and go dancing, snorkeling, weight lifting, the abs ball and exercise DVDs. I feel much more fit now.

It can be discouraging to have done so well so far but not be near my weight goal yet. I really have to focus on how far I have come. I am also trying to not let food and exercise consume all my focus. There are other things in life that deserve my time and energy besides how many pounds I can shed and how quickly. I tend to go into all or nothing mode and start hating myself for any wavering. This is not the first time I have needed to lose weight. I have been on many diet plans and even reached my goal on many of them. Sadly, I have now weighed the most I have ever weighed. Before Jenny Craig, I had come to accept my extra weight as something I just had to live with. I needed help and extra support for this to work. Thank you Jenny Craig.

Very much enjoyed reading what you had to say. I am similar in the way that I take the all or nothing approach. I have only been on for a week now but in previous times on other plans I would cheat and than feel bad. I think what I like about Jenny so far is that it is teaching me a lifestyle and not a temporary solution. There are going to be tough times on the journey ahead and we need to celebrate every win, success, and pound lost.

Hope you have a good day smile.gif

Thank you for the encouragement, Nato. I was wavering on Jenny Craig recently and losing my momentum and motivation. At first, I broke even because I was still exercising. The next week, I lost but it was less than half a pound. The kick in the pants was over the week of Halloween, I gained 4 pounds. This last week, I got back on track with my menu and didn't cheat at all and exercised every day. Well, I lost 7 pounds. As you said, we need to celebrate all the wins, even the little ones. As they say at Jenny, it's about progress, not perfection. I am in it for me and each step in the right direction improves my whole life.

Stay positive as you are.

Will

I started a reply and was trying to refine it and accidentally deleted the whole thing. I rewrote it only to find I had hit the new topic button instead. Sorry guys, I am still trying to learn how to use this thing. In the meantime, I can be dangerous. I hope to get some responses to my "new post," "R U Cooking 4 Yourself Yet?." I have received several responses to my post for the 40-100 weight loss group I titled "New Beginnings" and some responses to my first post under the 40s age group that I called "New to Chat Rooms." There is still a lot for me to learn and I am often a slow learner, but hey, I am enjoying the process. I especially like the weight loss part.

Hang In There and Enjoy the Ride!

Will
